Yep, been waiting for this one for sure.
Wow! Now I understand why they quoted me over 5K do get mine deleted. Doesn't seem so steep now... Great Job and thank you!
Dude, I thought the ford was hard, wtf gm!!??
Great video I have been waiting for almost a year for something like this. Thank you
Absolutely amazing ! Thanks Kyle
No problem!
Been waiting for a video like this, I subscribed and liked !
Thanks for the sub!

Your the mechanic that makes life look easy.
Great job, your skills are mint.
Can’t wait to get the kit for my 2017 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Amazing job man 🤙🏼👊🏼🔥
Thanks buddy I appreciate it
Super awesome Delete! Sound thick! Looks so much better without all that crap under the Hood!👍💯🔥
Thanks buddy, ya it’s a huge difference under the hood that’s for sure!
Yall like and subscribe you can tell he spent a lot of time editing the video.
Thanks man you have no idea haha
You the 🐐 for this one! 👍🏽
Hey, thanks for everything you do. You make life a lot easier for all the other techs out there.
I’m glad! To be honest I often reference my own videos myself haha
Wow, they keep making it harder to make your vehicle more reliable. I’ll never take the LMM for granted again.
Best duramax I’ve ever owned. Had 2 of them.
Thank you!! Very helpful video brother.
Dangerous video lol. You got balls my man. I love it.
It's legal where you don't have the US EPA ruining your truck.
@@scottleggejr didn’t realize he was in Canada.
Nice to get the Chevy/GMC on here. Insane quality on these "How To" videos. Would love to see some LML content if you can get one in your shop.
I have a couple older videos showing how to delete the LMLs on my channel as well!
Nailed it love it my dude awesome shit again
Thanks bro
Don’t got a diesel yet but close seeing this will make more sense once I do it on a older truck or same year model mostly likely some things will be different t but id imagine I’d be fairly similar
Amazing Job! Its hard enough but with your camera I cant imagine how difficult that job would be.. Great jog though.. I am thinking about getting a 17 one ton dually crew and deleting it with all the parts from Diesel dudes.. I totally think it will be worth it in the long and short run!! Thanks again buddy!!
Great video, love the details. I was lmao at you cutting perfectly good 5-700.00 NOX sensors and 300.00 EGT sensors lol😂. I work on these systems , they are expensive to maintain and I do not like them, we have no choice but to keep them here ,so that’s what we do.
😂 I should start selling all the used parts down to the states
Yup, 100% noooooo choice at all. I am absolutely emissions compliant
You are the man!!!
Just WOW! It doesn’t take long at all to be at a point of no return. There’s certainly no going back after making your truck federally illegal. Quite a ballsy decision, although I can hear the benefits when the engine is running.
Great video, I was watching intently!
Excellent video
Thank you
Anyone doing this for the first time like I just did today, I highly suggest letting the company that made your tune file rewrite your ECM for you. They had me install Anydesk on my laptop, and they were able to remote install my tunes for me. The tune software is the only part of this project that had me nervous 😅 Having them install it for me took all the worry away, and they are super nice too
Did you watch my “how to tune L5P video”?
@darkirondiesel yes I did, and it was extremely helpful. I would have completed it all using the video, but I was sent the wrong tuning software. They finally got the correct software for me, and since I had them on the phone, I asked them to install it for me. They did a couple extra steps I didn't see in your video. I assume it was due to hp tuners having done some updates to their own software. I really appreciate your videos, and I couldn't have done any of this without your videos.
@darkirondiesel although since I got your attention, I do have a question. Hopefully, you can answer. After my EGR delete, I have a code for fuel regulation range. I was curious if my 2017 should have that throttle body plug installed. Your video said to leave it unplugged. Any ideas where my issue is? Thanks...
Update.. I plugged everything back in and have definitely narrowed my issue back to that throttle body plug you said in the video to leave unplugged. With it unplugged, I get a code of P0002, and with it plugged back in, I get a code of P0001. The P0001 says fuel volume control regulator circuit is open, and the P0002 says fuel volume regulator control circuit range/performance.. Do you have any idea if I need a can bus plug here? Thanks
That’s funny. I literally did the same exact thing today for mine! Called them, they literally did EVERYTHING for me software and tune-wise. Much easier. And thanks @darkirondiesel for these videos. Extremely helpful, and also saved me 3 extra grand for someone else to do it.
New subscriber just of this video 🤙
Awesome vid bro👍🏽…Aloha🤙🏽
Appreciate it!!
Thanks for this bro
You bet
That’s cool how yours goes in my buddy had to put a T in for the coolant line🤔
Good video 👍
Thanks 👍
Painfully waiting for something to come out for my 2024 zr2 bison duramax. I am used to my twin turbo lmm that makes 800 wheel lol
Easiest way for that close couple scr at the turbo to come out is pull the trans mount nuts from the crossmember and jack it up to push the engine forward.
I paid to have mine done now I'm glad i did
Cummins was way easier
Thanks for the content
Yeah this is definitely a pretty big job!
A good portion of my Cummins upgrades were done watching your channel like an instruction manual thanks
Did my 2020 about 6 weeks ago... But I got my kit from a different company, but looked exactly the same(even the coolant hoses that were too short). I wish I would've had this video before then. lol. It really wasn't bad.
The V-band clamps were the biggest pain in the ass under the hood.... That front canister on the exhaust was the biggest pain in the ass for the exhaust.... for me. But it was a fun job.
Also, at 11:04, I just reused that hard coolant line for the coolant return from the turbo... It prevented me from having to buy more hose, and it gave it(in my opinion) a little cleaner look.
Only issues, When I start the truck, I get a DEF fluid low message and have to clear it. It's only when I start it, and doesn't cause any issues other than I get the message. Also, really weird, my trailer light plugs haven't worked since I free'd my truck. Flashed stock tune back on truck just to be sure, but still no power at the plug. All fuses look good. IDK.
Good video! It will definitely help a lot of people.
Hey who did you get your kit from? I was looking at the one from elite diesel but don’t want to get scammed lol.
@@justin_steen I used Unlimited Performance.
@@justin_steenI just tuned my truck and bought kit from elite diesel they had the tune file to me the next day. Good service,,
i had a fill def 100 miles till 185 max mph message l0l i had to play with the def plug on the driver frame. plugged it back in and filled it up and just had to play with it eventually i got it to stay off. i did the delete when the def tank was basically empty.
My man! 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Was this exhaust kit from diesel dudes? I like how the exit to it comes out the side behind the rear tire compared to pointing out from under the bumper
Holy cow. Glad I have a cummins. That's intense.
I see that JB weld @20:30 hahaha. been there brotha
Awesome video man keep it up. I have a 2022 gmc duramax that I want to delete. Just ordered the exhaust but wondering what tune and tuner to go with and my ecm and tcm are already unlocked. Does that make it easier to tune?
Shoot me a message on instagram
GREAT VIDEO BUD!
It is surprising that the Canadian government doesn't care about deleted diesels considering who's in charge. Wish this wasn't even necessary, i hate emissions and the EPA
Have you ever had the opportunity to delete a ecodiesel jeep wrangler or gladiator? Cant find a video of this process anywhere... Would be awesome if you could do one eventually!
That pin you put in the def injector line actually goes where the 9th fuel injector is on the driver frame rail.
I was wondering this. On my 19 it says to remove that hard coolant line from the exhaust & plug the 9th fuel injector on the driver side... I guess this is an alternative??
Hell yeah
As much as I’m interested but my 2024 is a 90k$ truck 😅. Maybe 5 years from now. I’m nervous but I’ll pay someone like you who knows how. 🔥🔥🔥
Do you have any idea where to find that u-bolt style clamp with hanger? Finding a 5” is almost impossible, my Flo-Pro on my 6.7 only has the one hanger welded on, adding that clamp I could grab another hanger. Thanks man! Great video on the L5p, definitely a bit more work than us 6.7 guys.
Jamo makes them
I just got done deleting my lml, uppipe/downpipe and i thought that was the biggest pain, jeez
Finally
I know i know
Maybe just a quick vid or breakdown on how to unplug egr and leave in place? Like if i was to delete dpf and tune truck but leave everything else in place. Hypothetically on my farm truck. Thanks
I’ll try to get a video like that done next time. But honestly if you just do the exhaust removal, exhaust install, can bus plugs and unplug throttle valve you’d probably be ok.
@@darkirondiesel thanks bro!!
Can you show how to remove the def tank
When will they have something for the baby 6 cylinder duramax ???
What tuning is required before the kit install?
A question, regarding the exhaustsystem. Why don't you just take the DPF unit,clear/remove what's inside it and put it back, you save money, and it looks as if it is still in place ? Regards from Sweden
So does the tune come from diesel dudes or HP tuners? The bundle from DD makes it sound like they give you a tune, but your tune video makes it sound like HP writes it.
When I deleted my 2023 l5p I just cut the scr in half. Aka the one on back of turbo. I didn’t remove the turbo. Took me 5 minutes to cut the scr out. To each their own. Also for the coolant return line on turbo to coolant tank I just used the metal hose that you threw away in the beginning and added a short piece of hose to the end to connect to the turbo. Looks a little cleaner and attached to the y bridge just like oem. But your way works also but have to buy a new hose.
Also good move using the oem fittings on the heater core lines. I used the aftermarket plastic ones that my kit came with. (Not diesel dudes kit) and I was towing and one of the heater core hoses blew off lost all my coolant in the mountains. So anyone doing this definitely reuse oem fittings.
Also I left alternator in the truck it’s totally up to whoever installing. It can be taken out or left in. Makes more room to work but is still doable to leave it in place.
Thanks for all the advice and insight man! The viewers will appreciate it for sure!
@@darkirondiesel no problem that’s what it’s all about. I was hoping you did this video before I did my kit about a year and a half ago. I was waiting and waiting but never came. And there is no good videos of l5p delete installs on CZcams or anywhere for that matter. So I’m sure this will definitely help out a lot of guys. I’ve done Cummins before and thought it would be easy. Well I was wrong lol. Way different than a Cummins that’s for sure. But keep the videos coming great work man.
What did you use to cut the scr? I'm doing my truck this weekend and any other little short cuts will help a ton along with darkirons video.
Legend.
I Hate how the diesel dudes are going up on their prices 20%
To clarify, they went up 5-10% depending on the kit. I agree, I hate price increases too but unfortunately their costs on the parts have increased lately which is the reason for the price increase. Inflation inflation inflation. How about we get Biden and Trudeau out of North America and maybe some prices can go down.
@@darkirondiesel Ah that's right. I don't know why I was thinking 20%. Looks like I need to get that down pipe ordered. Haha, right. Prices may stay inflated for the foreseeable future, but hopefully we wont have to deal with Biden for the next 4 years. If only Canada wasn't so far away. People here want 4-5K just to work on these trucks. It's crazy.
@@VRGamingTherapydiesel pickups are the absolute worst vehicles to work on,real truck mechanics hate them , and light duty you need someone who specializes in them especially the v8 diesels, as they are a special kind of crappy to work on. At least heavy trucks are designed to be worked on, the hoods lift forward they use inline 6 s there’s more room for things. I refuse to buy diesel for our fleet under 20,000 gvwr trucks , we are all gasoline until our low pros at 26,000 gvwr and up

Tree lovers will dislike this video
Trees literally eat carbon, they also grow faster when carbon content is higher.
Any way I can get those instructions? My kid decided to paint mines. Or where can I get the instructions?
Can’t believe the soot in it for a new truck
Right
Do they make a kit for a GMC terrain diesel?
Hey. So if your L5P EGR stuff falls off and you're allergic to block off plates, what's a good aftermarket exhaust manifold and up pipe setup? If any..
PPE has higher performance manifolds and up pipes for Duramax.
you needed to go over what the 2017-19 models say about the new bypass hoses im so confused with this part and it doesnt help that the diesel dudes didnt send me a pdf or a instruction manual for installation so all i have is your video i have now seen over 15 times.
You should be able to make it out of your pause the video when I show screenshots of the instructions, but next time I get a 2017-2019 in for an egr delete I can see about making a second video
Sounds really good! How’s the dog? Wish we could delete down here in the US.
I deleted mine here in Alabama who said I pull over for blue every time 😂
@@calvertracing7732 What does your post mean? I’m a diesel guy.
Is it possible to just do an egr delete but keeping scr and dpf stock just to be more lucrative instead of having a 4-5in straight pipe especially like here in the states but while still not getting that terrible soot through rerouted back into the engine since the egr is gone
Hmm I don’t think so unless you got a tune written specifically for you that only disables the egr but leaves the dpf/def system active.
Are the can bus plugs? Are they to trick the ecm to think the emission parts are still there?
They are to complete the power circuit that runs your fuel pump/sending unit.
When will be getting a 2024 delete?
How many hours total for install?
For how much this is the dp should come with it
I won't be removing the filter behind the turbo or installing a downpipe. Do i just leave the sensor wiring? Leaving it as is won't end up making the check engine light come on, will it?
Yeah you should be ok to just leave the sensors but make sure the can bus plugs are installed correctly.
Is there going to be something for the 2024s in the future?
Yes I’m sure there will be. Most likely they will just add 2024 to this kit I used in the video once tuning is figured out with them.
Do you install the can bus plugs before or after you install tune files?
I don’t do anything until I’ve tuned the truck successfully
how long would you say it took you to remove egr and install plugs and down pipe
About 8 hours
Hey, followed your video and the instructions. The delete itself was pretty simple and easy but afterwords I am getting a error message on my dash saying service exhaust fluid system, max speed 158mph. Any advise or tips you could privide?
Try plugging your def tank and nox sensors/particulate sensor back in and turn the truck on. If that doesn’t fix it, apparently it’s a tuning issue.
Yes contact the company that made your tunes
My God i thought my 2012 6.7 powerstroke was cramped this is just insane
This is actually an improvement from the earlier generation duramax engines haha
@darkirondiesel wow that's crazy. Good vid tho
Still waiting on diesel dudes to do a trans tune..all that new power and no trans tune is a disaster waiting to happen
Find any screws in that lower egr 😂?
Kyle I need you help man I have a 2019 and I’m having a hard time installing the plug for the def tank It seems like it is too big just to make sure I’m plugging it in the right connector it is on the bottom of the def tank right????
Did you watch the video where I go over the can bus plugs? Is that what you’re talking about? The video has chapters, go to the can bus plug chapter. I’ve never done a 2019 but maybe the tips and tricks I have for this 2020 will help you out. The def harness connector on this truck has to be popped into the right position to work. I show it in the video.
Yeah I did turns out it was on top of the passenger frame above the DEF tank I guess it’s different location for the 17-19 thanks for the help anyway tho
I have a 2015 crew cab short box. I want to get a 5 inch full exhaust with muffler but I also don't know what I sounds like with a straight pipe. Could I use one of those extension pipes that the kit comes with?
You could but you might have to do some welding. But my advice is get the kit with the muffler, it’s much easier and cheaper to swap the muffler out for a piece of straight pipe in the future then to buy a muffler in the future.
Also this is the link for the LML kit shrsl.com/4bmpm
@@darkirondiesel So the pipe for the crew cab long box won’t replace the muffler?
EPA open up!!! (Rams door down)
2023 5th Gen Cummins next, please 😢
The 2023 5th Gen Cummins will be exactly the same as the video I released for the 2019-2021. The only difference is you have to swap the Ecm, which I also have a video of!
So, how much do you charge?😂 Want to get mine done soon!
Just a minor correction. You called the component behind the turbo the SCR. That isn't correct. The SCR is the component located between the cross members downstream from the DEF Injector. The component behind the turbo is the DOC. So it goes - DOC - SCR - DPF.. then out the tailpipe.
Ah good to know. It’s all the same crap in my mind
Do I have to remove components I just would like to leave everything on and just change the exhaust
You can just swap exhausts, unplug the egr valves and throttle valve, then install can bus plugs
How much to delete mini 2021 Duramax ?
Did you get rid of your '22 Cummins truck ? Mine gave me endless problems.
Nope I still have mine. Haven’t had a single problem since deleting it. What problems were you having?
@@darkirondiesel What was written off as injector rattle at first (but within spec) became a "serpentine tensioner" fault and then the lifters failed. $35k down the drain. Always used Amsoil - and the recommended weight.
How much to have this done?
What about the software that decreases power when the DEF system is malfunctioning?
Like putting your truck in limp mode? Tuning the truck like I did in the tuning video (linked in description) will get rid of limp mode.
Hey, if I have a nox sensor code already on the truck will it stay on after the delete? or do I have to put the new one on, then tune it???
The tune should get rid of the code if you’re using the kit I linked in the video
@@darkirondiesel ah dang wish I saw this video three days ago
Can't you get away by just unplugging the EGR or is it necessary to delete it
You can but then you still have the SCR filter in the exhaust behind the turbo.
Hey I ran into an issue today with the heater core connector, the one on the drivers side is angled up and the one on the left is angled straight. The way it was on from factory had the straight connector on the one angled up which made it had to remove and even harder to put back. Can I swap the straight and angled connector lines because they fit perfectly? The left side would go to the thermostat and the right side would go to the lower radiator hose. Any help would be really appreciated thanks.
Hey, I’m not sure if you can pump coolant backward through the heater core. I don’t see why not, but I also can’t confirm it. What year is your truck? Did you figure this out?
It’s a 2019, and I still have them flipped for now. I’ll be able to start it this weekend so hopefully everything works as it should
@@philipneville3172 Ever get this figured out? I have a 2019 also.

Very very far away in Canada
You really had to ask?
I’ve heard you have to mess with your injectors doing this is that true?
False
We just bought this kit for a 2020. Ordered the down pipe and 4" kit that uses the stock tailpipe. The first piece of the 4" exhaust wouldn't clear the tranny crossmember. We already had the down pipe in so we had to cut the flange off and shorten the pipe. So either the down pipe or the first piece is too long. We tried to contact Diesel Dudes on a Friday and didn't hear back til Tuesday. They claim everything was right, we just didn't install it correctly. Bullshit. I've forgot more than most guys know. There's no way that exhaust would've fit correctly without shortening one or the other. I think once they got paid, they don't give a crap. Next time I'll just source the parts seperately and save a pile of dough.
I’m sorry you went through that. I didn’t have any problems with mine and I haven’t had any negative feedback like this either. Maybe it was a one off situation, either way that’s unfortunate.
@@darkirondiesel Yours was a 5", correct? I'm thinking they sent us 4" for a 17-19 maybe. There must be something a little different with 20 and up. I've looked up a few other exhaust kits and some are listing 17-23 and others have a separate kit for 20 and up. Idk, we already fixed it, but I won't be going down that road again.
What about the fines and impound charges when you get caught?
If it’s illegal where you live I don’t recommend doing it.
Does the throttle valve stay unplugged on the 2019 2500hd? Just deleted mine but have it plugged in and its been running fine. The instructions never mentioned anything about leaving it.
A few trucks experience issues with the throttle valve plugged in that’s why they recommend unplugging it to eliminate that possibility. I’d suggest unplugging it, problems can pop up out of nowhere.
@@darkirondiesel Thanks man! You released this 1 day after i finished my delete, wish i would have waited and watched this, would have saved a few headaches!
I wonder if this valve is just for warmup strategy. Like closing off to force EGR gasses through the cooler to exchange heat. Maybe one reason quick warmup goes when the EGR goes..
Now someone crack the code on the global B ECM!!!
what about the 24s
I just got my kit for a 2022 and still got the same coolant hoses as you. Lmfao
