ikr, even if you mix tons of genre together, you won’t get close to the vibes kevin's music has
totally wrong. flaming lips, beck are all bands that he pulls direct sound. only naming a couple here tho
This guy is Kevin Parker
@@cowhidesunglasses ok?
@@cowhidesunglasses his name is kevin parker
He’s such an exceptional musician. I’m so happy to exist while he’s making music.

Word!
Me tooooo!! #LONGLIVEKEVINPARKER !!!
I like the kev actually countered his point of view because most artists just go along with whatever he says
Yeah the interviewer seems to be a bit too eager for validation of his opinions. Glad Kevin didn't enable that behavior. It comes off kinda annoying.
UnrecycleRubdish That’s why I can’t watch Zane Lowe’s interviews unless i really like the artist, he forces his own viewpoints on the artists way too much, I think he just likes the sound of his own voice
@@parlay-music like any radio host
I feel Kanye is one of those artists who steers away from what Zane wants to hear
AkbarStudios Kevin and Kanye are both strong minded and independent thinkers too
Posthumous Forgiveness is a masterpiece. The way it switches to the second part... and goes from him being angry at his dad to forgiving his dad.. wow. Tomorrow’s Dust is beautiful. And On Track is literally the soundtrack to my life. I love him so much. There’s no other artist i resonate with more.
Posthumous is my favorite of his, has me tear up sometimes thinking about if my father was to pass away I would be very regretful for not speaking more
@@crismeisters it gave me a new perspective with my father. I love his introspective lyrics
This comment is making my heart cry! Every word relatable, On Track is the song i've been waiting for my whole life!
Posthmous forgiveness is my life’s soundtrack ,I relate to every word on that song and I cried to it many times
I was also really impressed by that track for the same reason. Especially when he sings about wanting to tell his dad how his music career had taken off. Great song
“I don’t expect people to be on the journey with me the whole way. I expect people to get on the train and get off the next station. It sounds like I don’t care about my fans, but in a way, I’d be slightly disappointed if everyone that liked the first album liked every album after that. It’s one of those things that just has to happen. I think it was Marilyn Manson that said, ‘I don’t make albums for my fans. I make them for a new audience.’” - Kevin Parker
I love all the albums... can't believe my favorite artist is disappointed in me
Well I hate to dissapoint you Kevin but I've liked everything you have put out into the world and I don't see myself getting off the train anytime soon
What interview is this from?
"I don’t make albums for my fans. I make them for a new audience." - this is just bullshit, lol.
No it’s not bs. Artists get tired of doing the same thing over and over. It’s more fun less work if you are creating something new.
Imagine going down to the shops and seeing Kevin Parker walking around stoned.
literally tho
I wanna like this but 69 likes, but yeah if this ever happens to me my life is complete
If you think I couldn't hold my own, believe me, I can
he wouldnt be the only one stoned
Ive seen him down the shops multiple times haha I'm from Perth tho
Kevin is a time-traveller, stuck in space-time vortex. He doesn't perceive time as we do. He goes to the future and brings a bongo with him. Then he decides to go back and brings some synthesizers. Amazing album and sound. Absolutely love this mans vision.
Can I post this comment on twitter giving you the credit?
He’s not in that class mate. Time travel, space vortex? You’re making him sound like one of the great classical composer. Rachmaninov perhaps?
@@raiaansadeed4906 sure
@@joelkeane3160 well I think it's a dead end if we start comparing classical composers to mainstream artists. What I expressed should be considered in Kevin's musical context and his contemporaries. And it's just my personal opinion as someone who has been making music for 10 years. Still have lot to learn but I do look up to guys like Kevin, John Frusciante, Thom Yorke etc.

He's such a normal dude and it makes him so much more amazing. Kevin you're a prophet of music and sanity, thanks for helping us keep it together
ProphetDev what does normal mean to you?
Jarrett Rogers maybe they meant relatable which i think kevin is
@@Petersjackson450 And what does sanity mean? The definitions shapeshift through generations and eras, and the last 9 months have added even weirder layers to our collective perspective of sanity and normal, and there isn't new normal, there are new ways (collectively, individually) of stabilizing and rethinking what's normal. I think most people agree normal, however, is being comfortable with adjusting, even when you're not sure what adjusting to life, a new chapter, a new relationship means and yet not compromising your worth, skills, talents, passions, love, true feelings, and authenticity. If that isn't normal I don't know what normal is.

Breathe Deeper was inspired by you being stoned in public, more of that please!
Adrian i read in an interview that he was out shopping with his wife/friends in some local shops & he was way too stoned for his own good. so he just sat there while she shopped, brainstorming a song in his head and out came ‘Breathe Deeper’
@@StricklandPropane3 Interesting. Could you please drop a link to this interview regarding his wife/ shopping and being stoned?
If this amazing man doesn't win a Grammy this year, I'm going to riot.
haah you think Grammys are important
Fuck the Grammys
Grammys don’t mean shit
Album of the decade IMO.... but if he doesn't win one I can totally see Kanye West purging the entire venue 🤔
Anyone who says the Grammys aren't important isn't a working musician
That Easter egg about breathe deeper being a song based on walking around town stoned is amazing. Completely gave me those vibes.
He's an exceptional artist. Doing music by himself means more. He puts only one, personal soul into it!
If you like tame impala you should check out lonely gimmick - Grumpy Days, it gives me early tame impala vibes and its a great new indie song
Kevin : "Yeah Doubt is poisonous in creativity"
Lowe: "Have you doubted yourself in the past while making music"
Kevin: "ALwayss... yeah yup.. totally."
there are so many people experiencing anxiety about the future (hence society's preoccupation with sequels and reboots), i love how kevin confronts that fear and anxiety head-on, naming all the things so many of us are afraid to.
the album is so layered and so GOOOOD.
Your analysis is spot on! You should out the genre of 'Vaporwave' and everything that’s connected to it and our current cultural predicament (e.g. Hauntology)!
Listening to Tame Impala since 2010. It's been my favourite artist for 10 years now. Time flies but His music stays exaclty the same and you don't get use to it. It's amazing that we have such music. It heals and inspires. Also spreads Love.
Mark Baranovsky haha I wouldn’t say is music exactly heals. His lyrics in Innerspeaker and Lonerism and even Currents aren’t exactly all that positive haha but it definitely gives so much positive vibes from the music itself!
@@SugarW1thC0ffee It's not meant to be possitive to heal someone. If you lived through some tought shit in your life and you feel the same as he is saying in his lyrics then its kinda helps you. He is healing him self by making music. Its like writing a diary on a shitty day. You wrote all down and u feel yourself a bit opened to the new day.
Mark Baranovsky oh yea it heals him especially since he’s releasing his emotions through his music, but his music can be negative to people who are in need of getting away from anything negative and I’m his previous albums weren’t exactly good albums for an individual to move on since he talked a lot about relationship problems and yea we can relate but sometimes it ain’t gonna make things any better for some people
@@SugarW1thC0ffee yeahhh, nah idk i don't really heal listening to positive music? it just feels fake, processing to sad music is a whole different thing
@@SugarW1thC0ffee nah, listening to real and emotional songs is way more healing than purely positive songs imo. To defeat your problems you need to face them, not cover them up with false positivity. Also finding people to relate to is very important.
This is an amazing interview, Kevin is being open and trying to answer the question to the best of his experience
And every one of his song starts to resonate with you after 2nd or 3rd listen, as you start to get the hang of words and flow processing which is unique to each song.
Wow this is such a real interview! Love Kevin thanks for all you do for us as fans! Can’t wait to hear the new album!

@@M8DLT im a huge fan of porter since the spitfire EP. I saw him when he toured for Worlds, loved the whole album and stage show. (Excluding the track Flicker, that was horrible). This being said, the recently released single "Get Your Wish" let me down pretty hard. My girlfriend (who attended the worlds tour show with me btw) asked why i was listening to "shitty christian EDM" which is obviously an over the top joke of a statement but proved she wasn't a fan as a blind participant. I hope he doesn't try to follow up worlds just to do it with his "Main Alias", now that he has Virtual self to break the mold from what the fans that know him as porter are going to expect.

My number one inspiration thank you for your music.
Talented. When someone is in touch with "it", the music flows freely through them. And when you have a musician that can move out of the way and let that happen without their limitations hampering the music, the harmonic resonance is tangible. You feel the hooks and the dynamics like an emotion. It takes a musician with skill, patience, and humility to pull these sorts of connective frequencies from the Universe. The muse is strong with this one.
Also impressed with the interviewer. Intelligent, thoughtful questions and comments and he gives Kevin the room to explore his thoughts fully without seizing the space in between words to quickly get through a list of questions. Great interview...thank you to both of these humans for being a bright spot of my day. Cheers!
