- Can essential oils help receding gums?
Essential oils are definitely gaining popularity these days. Those in the natural health field are concerned that dangerous chemicals in conventional health products may hinder natural bodily functions. Patients are also looking to decrease the chemical and man made ingredients found in the majority of beauty and health products. One of the most common complains at the dental office is tooth sensitivity and problems associated with receding gums.
The attraction to using essential oils in dentistry is that they may not pose such a risk to the body. Let's go over gum recession, what kind of essential oils might be beneficial, and how to apply the oils to decrease teeth and gum sensitivity. Marisa, RDH and BURST ambassador is here to cover the basics and then some.

Well, please do share how.
How?
How plz reply
How did you do it?
I started to notice receding gums and I began to use peppermint oil and ginger with salt in warm water. I rinse for 2 minutes twice daily and I see improvement already in about 4 days. I will be continuing this and will give update in 30 days
Did receding gums grow back any?
can u elaborate on what improvement??
any update?
@@bangkokdiscovery to be honest, I can't say for sure but the darkness is completely gone and I am not ashamed to show my teeth while I smile anymore. I would like to believe it did. You guys should try for at least a week and give your updates here as well. It worked for me and I really wanted to share it to help others. Peppermint oil should be the dominant ingredient btw
@@pratikpradhan2476 yes it worked fanstastic for me and my gum is almost back to normal. I can smile without being self conscious again. I now dilute peppermint oil in water and wash my mouth daily with it but not as strong as I initially started off with
Please post the list and the description under your Description for us to save easily. Thank you! Great video!
I am thinking of trying this for sure; I have high blood pressure so need to get the ok from my doctor. Thanks so much
Your smile is beautiful and contagious... :) Thanks for your tips
Awesome content! Thank you.
*W Great Useful VideO..* 😊👍
I added a lot of essential oils to my Listerine - clove, tea tree, lavender, rosemary, white thyme, frankincense, peppermint, grapefruit, cinnamon, etc. I used them every time I brushed my teeth, before going to bed and after getting up in the morning. For the first, my gingivitis is completely gone which I've been suffering since I was young - I'm now 45.
Did receding gums grow back any
Hank you so I h for sharing
What brands?
@@Teetee-yt3ip Now brand
How many months?
Very helpful. Thank you.
Hello! I have been using my Burst tooth brush for 6 months . I had an awesome check up yesterday with my dentist! I have battled with gum disease for years. The Sonic is too damaging for someone like me, so the Burst is the perfect option. I no longer need to follow up with my periodontist 🎉
This is awesome news. It's those super soft bristles that keep things safe and effective!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
@@BURSTOralCareTV Yes! My dentist and hygienist were very happy with the results ❤️
I really enjoy this little video
I appreciate this!!
I have gum disease for few years my lower two front teeth hurting me can’t bite on them
Just used peppermint essential oil in few minutes I had a relief
Thank you
Make sure you work with a dental professional to help you find the best oral care products for you. By removing the germs from around your teeth and dental work everyday, you should be able to minimize the inflammation in your mouth.
I'm wondering before dentist was around back in olden days what people use to use ? Because I know GOD had natural remedy for those people to use.
Perhaps diets were also incredibly different... not a lot of added sugars, sodas, etc. Often times people didn't live past their 40's or 50's to see much recession and decay also... Food for thought!
No - people just simply did not live that long.
@@BURSTOralCareTV In which cultures did people not live past those ages?
Neem
I read using clove repeatedly can damage gums and teeth
I didn't really hear which oils you have to be careful about using . For instance, are there some of these oils that are not good to put in your mouth unless they are in a particular form or have particular labels? I don't want to poison myself!
Clove oil essential is also used if you make your own oil paints 😉
Thank you!
True it happened to me I was put on medication so I’m using more TeaTree oil
What about Oregano oil...
grinding of the teeth at night (involuntary and not controllable) is a big problem for gum recession; wearing a guard is an option but not for me as I cannot stand them and it ends up on the floor in the middle of the night...you can take care of your teeth to the enth degree and still have issues...stress is the biggest factor
There are so many factors for grinding and you’re right, it can cause quite a bit of recession. Have you done a sleep study or talked to someone about airway issues?
@@BURSTOralCareTV thanks for your reply, no, I have not done a study and my nasal airways are partially blocked due to a deviated septum which was supposed to be fixed, but was not done correctly. But I am pretty sure its stress related (I can feel tension in my jaws that never goes away). The good news is that my gums are in excellent health (my holistic dental hygienist said they were and I have no plaque or barnacles) but I do have high measurements...5, 6, 7s which makes me so nervous...I want to go to the grave w/all my teeth intact!
@@splash4891 sounds like you are doing the best you can. Good luck
@@BURSTOralCareTV ok thanks
I also grind my teeth at night. I have a mouth guard that I'm going to start using again because I think that is what's causing my teeth/gum issues.
I have heard that swishing with wheatgrass & probiotics in the mouth can help, too...
I can vouch for wheatgrass powder in water mouthwash and cinnamon powder in hot water..(let cool before use.)..the 2nd works amazingly well for infections ,if u use enough powder, concentrated.
I’m planning on making a homemade mouthwash but as a base I’m going to be using aloe vera juice and a small amount of vodka along with peppermint and thyme essential oils
Don't use vodka. It will leave you with bad breath long term
You should try Xylitol it is great to not only remineralize your teeth but it imitates sugar so the bad bacteria love it but can't digest it so it stops the biofilm from forming but doesn't kill the good bacteria. Vodka is too strong and will kill the good bacteria too.
Alcohol kills good bacteria in ur mouth
frankincense, sage, eucalyptus, clove, lemon, peppermint, yarrow, tea tree
brushing my teeth never prevented gum desease that i have since my teenage. every time i do deep clean the tartar come back again after a couple of months, so quick, even though i keep brushing twice a day. i never tried this oil pulling that im hearing about recently, and how effective they are? if anybody can clarify please. thanks
One very important question. Do you floss every day? Most of the tartar starts to build up below the gums where your toothbrush cannot reach... Oil pulling may help a bit, but the key to preventing the soft plaque from hardening into tartar is to remove it first.
I add tea tree oil to my toothbrush along with toothpaste when I brush.
I love tea tree oil for preventing any infection so I will try this!
Can I mix tea tree and clove coconut oils together
Sounds like a mix combination but of course it's always nice to chat with someone that's an expert in these essential oils
Yes
Does it work
Make sure to watch the whole video to get some insight from the dental hygienist that created this segment. Of course this is not meant to replace the advice of your personal dental team
What about castor oil?
Similar to coconut oil, some claim that it has benefits but the American Dental Association and majority of dental professionals warn that it's not a proven strategy for cavity reduction or treatment of periodontal disease. Although there may be overall health benefits, our team sticks to the lane of dentistry :).
Here is a research article that might be helpful: www.todaysrdh.com/oil-pulling-is-it-worth-the-effort/
Ya no synthetic nothing for me thx
AMEN
can i just use listerine?
Alrhough that is a popular product, they key is to find something right for you. Trying to kill all of the germs (good and bad) may not be ideal. Also, ask your dental provider if using Listerine with or without alcohol is best for your personal dental history and current situation
@@BURSTOralCareTV i like the listerine green... kills bacterias!
@@manofmatter.yvezchannel Yes it can kill harmful AND beneficial bacteria. We do need the good ones so just chat with your dentist to see what's the best for you
22 years in federal prison BOP could give one ass hair about inmates dental health I’m in such bad shape with gum
Loss tooth loss furious !.!. Now I have to deal with shit tons of bills oral health is so important law suit coming their way
I used to volunteer and see patients at a prison when I was living in Oregon. We need to do before for everyone
Jay, that's exactly what the taxpayers need, is a lawsuit against them for your bad decisions. Because obviously money grows on trees. I mean what the hell? The middle class aren't suffering enough under the current administration, where everything is FREE! Until its Not. Do you know who pays for my dental care? Why I do of course. Chew on that for awhile.
Wow prisons in the UK have some of the best dentist's.
I'm 52 years old. Always brushed but never flossed. Yes, i know! Terrible! And now i have gum disease. I just recently had my top wisdom tooth removed. Xray shows two teeth next to it needs removing. Plus, One of my front teeth is loose. Not sore. Just the gum has receeded and the tooth is being held by what little bone is left lol. Dentist wants to remove the whole top row. But is hoping i have at least 4 teeth to save so i can get dentures. All of this is to expensive for myself & my family. I'm not vain, But i do like to take care of myself & look good lol. I've fallen into deep depression because of this. The dentist has told me all the bad things that is about to happen. My cheekbones dropping down. Not being able to eat so you die?? Wow! Lol. Even some people have had their jaws removed?? Not one positive thing to say or any hope given to me of a better outcome. Now i am on youtube looking for hope! Thank you for sharing with us. I need to try all these things. I am desperate as my mental state is not good. Suffered from depression all my life. Got on top of it 15 years ago. And now it's back. Sorry for the novel! Lol. I don't reach out in person. So it's good to share on here.
Your dentist is a shyster scam artist. This guy wants to wreck your mouth over something that can be fixed with a little common sense and oils. if you go back to this butcher you will regret it bigtime. Next he will want to chop your head off for a cavity. WAKE UP
