Discernment is talked about in 2 ways. One of them is discernment as a gift given to someone and the way someone gets it is through the worship of Allah. The second one is something that can be learned through being very observant and detail oriented.
The Prophet (SAW) had immense discernment - sometimes the sahabah were amazed by the level of discernement they would see.
