  • In this video we go over how to repair or replace the fiber optic rod of your front pistol sight, or any fiber optic sight. The process is really easy and we show you what you will need and how to do it quickly. Make sure you but the correct size of fiber optic rod for your sights, we've also had the best luck sticking to the basic colors red or green.

    Excellent description of how this is done. I lost my front sight tube this morning while turkey hunting and wasn't sure how to replace it. Thank you very much most informative.

    Thank you. That was clear and concise and now my front sight is clear and concise. The most important information you gave is let the heat build instead of getting too close. My Novak front sight had a bubble in the middle since I bought them and they sent me six rods free of charge. Another thing you might mention is when you clean your pistol take extra care in cleaning the fiber rod. You might fail to notice the absence of light after all the powder build up.

      +shooterqqqq thanks for watching. For me and my eyes I still prefer red. I haven't missed green yet. As far as using a lighter near the reloading bench I can't cover all lapses of common sense :-)

    Great video man. trial and error for me the first time, I would hold lighter too close and it would leave the optic super cloudy.

    Eyes can't seem to make out that front iron sight like I used too, but still want to co-witness with a Holosun.

    Before adding heat my rod was super bright and collecting a lot of light. After the heat, once the install was complete I noticed the rod was not as bright and not gathering passing much light. Is this typical or did I do something wrong?

    • @Learningfirearms
      @Learningfirearms  Před 6 lety +1

      +LilD12683 could be too much heat. Slow and steady is better

    • @TADDs101
      @TADDs101 Před 6 měsíci

      I have the same results .. about half as bright as it was before install, melting those ends has to have something to do with it

    DONT use nail clippers lol. Nail clippers tend to have a curvature anyways bc it’s for your NAILS. Use something more precise like a razor blade.
