  • In this episode, I'm going to try Lovemachine ThickLizzy that was shaped by CNC machine. I consider ThickLizzy as the best beginner surfboard to progress and have fun in the water.
    It paddles like a dream, very stable, comes with a lot of glide and early projection to get into the waves early. You can work on your style, posture and flow!

    Great to see you riding a board that suits your conditions much better. This is the sort of content we need. You don't need to be on the latest big name brand board. Thanks Yuri. No shame in riding funboards on small waves - the joy can still be there

    Nice to see you on a longer board. Everyone looked super smooth out there.

    That Thick Lizzy became a classic!! You should never sell it. I bought a 7’8 Haley Pin a while ago and I loved the board on small waves super fun!

      It did!! Met so many people with either Haley Pin or ThickLizzy. Everyone was very positive about it. Believe or not, I recently sold it. I’m waiting for the new batch of Lovemachine ThickLizzy’s at Glide Surf Shop. I want to get either 7’10” or 7’4”. They should arrive in the next two months🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Yewwww - love to see fotty of the Lizzy in action. I’ve got an 8’ Haley Pin and one thing you didn’t mention is how fast it is when it’s planing!

      Haha.. yeah it's getting a lot of speed and need to learn to control it to do the turn. I'm waiting for the Love Machine ThickLizzy to be available at Glide. I sold my 7'10" Handshaped ThickLizzy not a while ago. Cheers!

    I've been learning so much from your videos and recommendations! What are the BIGGEST differences between the FM and the ThickLizzy after riding both of them?

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  Před rokem +2

      Hey Maverick! Thanks for watching. The difference is in performance. ThickLizzy is a true mid length that glides incredibly well. You can kind of feel that you are on a longboard but it moves around when you want to turn. The FM is more about performance going rail to rail, more precise lines and turns. I've recently tired my buddy's 6'8" Custom FM with pointy nose and it felt that it needs at least 3 ft wave to be able to go down the line compared to my 6'5" FM Custom with round nose which was going better on smaller days. For the wave count, glide and fun, I suggest going with the ThickLizzy. Hope this helps.

    Love it - the vibes in the water were great that day.
    I'm going to dedicate my next year of surfing to the Thick Lizzy. If I can't style on the lizzy, what am I doing riding anything else?

      Haha! There are a few more good boards that could compliment it but nothing exactly like ThickLizzy😁

    Hi Yuri! I'm curious your opinion... What's a better longboard alternative, ThickLizzy or Album Darkness twin. Both at 7'6, which would have more glide? Thanks!

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  Před rokem +1

      Hi Ashley! I would go with ThickLizzy. Since it’s got 2+1 setup or go just as a single fin, it will give you the closer feel to a longboard feel. It doesn’t go well as a twin fin though. If you get one in 7’10” that would work as a perfect alternative to a longboard to cruise all the way to the beach.
      I didn’t try Darkness before. But the twin fin version will give more speed, freedom for turning but loose feel.
      Hope this helps!
