  • The next port I visited on my whistle stop tour of the Western Med was Marseilles. My colleague and I were on a tight schedule and couldn't decide whether to take the open top red bus tour, or the little train.
My advice? Take the train. If it's warm and sunny, it's much more fun. If it's raining, or cloudy, or cold? Take the bus.
The little train takes you from the town, along the beautiful picturesque waterfront and then up to Notre Dame, (I didn't know there where two Notre Dames in France).
To see this view for yourself, climb the steps, as if you are going to Notre Dame. They are fairly steep, but the view is worth it.
Don't worry, if you are mobility impaired. You can still get a nice view from the car park, there's just a few more trees, etc.
