  • In the mid-1990s, the singer and songwriter Kim Hill met a young rapper who suggested they start making music. That rapper’s name was will.i.am, and his group was a rising Los Angeles underground hip-hop crew called The Black Eyed Peas. The rest is history - or is it?
Hill found herself at a crossroads in 2000 and decided to quit the group and find her own voice, only to look on as The Black Eyed Peas reached global stardom with earworms like “I Gotta Feeling.” Having missed out on what every performer dreams of, does Hill regret her decision?
“Almost Famous” is a special Op-Docs series of short films directed by Ben Proudfoot featuring people who nearly made history - only to fall short. These are tales of overcoming disappointment at its most epic, from an astronaut who never flew to a superstar who never was.

bang g it’s sad because so many black women are automatically seen as “bitter”.
Edit: I am a brown skinned black woman. I have faced what I stated in my comment. I reworded what I said because some people don’t know how to use quotation marks. If you wanna know what I said it was “it’s sad because so many black women are automatically ‘bitter’.” Some of y’all really gettin trigger because you see “black women are ‘bitter’” without even reading what it said in its entirety. This is one of the reasons why people see us the way we do. Some people are so quick to jump the gun and label someone “ism, ist, phobic” without even knowing what they’re saying. Although it’s ignorant to judge a whole race of people off of two people who cannot read, it doesn’t help.

I had a backstage pass & when they were on stage I was mesmerized by her. She shined, she really did. As they were coming off stage & headed towards the back, she looked at me & gave me that great smile she has & I remember thinking ‘That girl’s one in a million.’
I’d talked about seeing them without Fergie, but no one I talked to ever remembered them like that, so I thought maybe she was just a contract player or something. It’s good to get an answer to a question I had wondered about for some 20 years.

The powerful non-Blk people behind the music industry (yew know who they are) intended for our cultural “life to imitate the dark art” of the music industry. For Blk men to incorporate the hateful, unloving lyrics and extreme disrespect shown to Blk women, within their own lives so that the Blk family foundation would be destroyed, love marriages would become non-existent (only baby mamas and daddies and unorganized broken families) and we as a community would have no legs to stand on. Media mind programming that still occurs today with music and now politics that compels us to feel hate towards others and to only see racism everywhere in society, even when it is not really there. Their techniques are stealth and very hard to detect because they let people who look like us (who actually have their mixed blood) do their bidding . This is the power of media mind programming. Always remain discerning and use your logic, do not believe all information presented to you on the news, simply because it is presented to you. Nefarious aims are kept at play to keep our community weak and divided.
