    As you look at the box, the left module is the actual ECM (or ECU) while the right one near the engine is the TCM (Transmission control module) that appears to work for both manual and automatic transmissions

    Just wanted to update. Cleaning the transmission connectors on the connector tree on the driver side towards the front bumper with deoxit d5 made the code go away. Back to normal as far as I can tell.
    I would absolutely recommend anyone with this code try this FIRST as the cost is only about $15 and anybody can do it. The connector tree is near the driver side front headlight, and they are all oriented vertically, so water can easily collect on top of the connectors and soak down into it, causing corrosion. As an additional bonus, you can use your extra spray cleaner to clean your battery terminal or any connectors you ever mess with in the future, and even clean your turn signal switch stalk if it's acting up.

      @@Peppermint1 I forgot what it was but it was a transmission control module code. Researching the code online showed potential repairs as replacing and reprogramming tcm or replacing shift sensor. Thankfully I knew I had caused the code by introducing water into the engine bay, and back when researching it led me to your video. Most likely was whatever code you discussed on this video

    Thank you for all your video, I took out the little fan and applied 12v red+ , black -, so the airflow direction is blowing air into the box. But when I put back the fan into position, I can't feel the airflow? Previous owner never changed cabinet filter. I changed it once I got it. So could it be any clogging behind the firewall.

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  Před 4 lety +2

      I did wonder too about the air direction. It's not easy to measure it - may try keeping a napkin close see if it suck or pushes it. My impression was the fan was actually pulling air from the box towards inside the cabin, which would perhaps make more sense, otherwise it will have to fight against the vacuum from the cabin blower. I'm not aware if the fan duct goes behind the cabin filter, I would guess it enters the climate ducts before the filter.

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  Před 4 lety +1

      @@calebandrachellezhang3597 There might actually be several separate issues with the car. AC not working can be a problem with lack of freon or too much clutch gap at the compressor or faulty cabin temp sensor. Alarm system is caused by failed alarm siren module. Dash gauges may be caused by the common DIM failure but mostly 2002-2003 cars were affected - possibly early 2004 if they have similar dash. For other problems look under the dash see which model of CEM you have. If it has many small fuses on it, it's the one that gets water leaking on it from a faulty seal under the windshield. If it rather has like black small relays, it's the earlie CEM model which is not affected by water.

    I have a 2002 volvo c70 , it has 200,00 miles, anyway its doing something weird when I put it into drive it sometimes double clunks rather abruptly , sometimes it's just a double bump that's not a abrupt one, when it's cold it doesn't do it, and sometimes it depends on the way my steering wheel is ( what way it's turned) other than that it drives pretty good , everyone in a whole it shifts a little weird but not major mostly if I gas it too fast not sure how to explain , the mechanic said it was my transmission , it shifts smoothly MOST of the time , the mechanic would not even bother w it, I haven't had it long and truly love it already but I'm not sure what to think it is, the mechanic seemed like maybe he had another car he would have rather worked on🥴 any thoughts? I have no clue about cars but am wondering if I should just drive it into the ground like the mechanic said

    It thesame as i experiencing now with my volvo s60 2001. My mechanic told me the problem is the tranmission gearbox. I look at it if the is wet or so.

    • @Peppermint1

      It's automatic ? What you describe sounds like the transmission is slipping in the 3rd gear. May be because a garage removed the top 27mm bolt thinking it's a refill hole, or simply because the 3rd gear band is completely worn. @@duposflies2621 For manual, look underneath the transmission for any leaks, and also monitor the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir (it uses the same fluid for the clutch slave cylinder). It is looses brake fluid it's indeed a slave cylinder job - expensive on this car because it needs everything replaced and the engine has to be removed from the car. hello, I have a problem with my volvo S60R 2004. Basically, my dashboard is nonfunctional given that I have a fuse that burns momentarily. The fuses 24 and 27 of the fuse box on the driver's side. The fuse 24 is for climate control, intrusment clusters and the power seat driver. I had the car scanned and the P0650 code came out.
    P0650
    ECM-6B00
    Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
    Signal missing. Intermittent signal fault. I used a multimeter to find out what was going on and it looks like I have a short circuit because it goes up to about 11.50 amp. I ended up buying an ECB3000B. It’s a short detector. Please help me.

      Normally repair services for electronic modules will try to salvage yours. It works most of the times. Xemodex in Canada is expensive, there are other electronic module repair services on Ebay. In rare situations where it really needs replaced, I think Xemodex can give you a used CEM already programmed from your old one, but they are not cheap. And Volvo will only reprogram if you buy a new unit$$$$. May also have a look on this blog, at the beginning volvos60xc70xc90buyersguide.home.blog/
