Really love this format for brief, informative reviews. Keep them coming!
Thanks so much! We have no plans to stop ;)
I play such games a lot with my brother, mostly escape room style or adventure games.
We started with EXIT series but once we got through all we just bought a one of copies of different ones (fyi Unlock is our favorite), but we also played Adventure. It left a bit a sour taste overall, we played only once had following conclusions:
- Atmosphere of the locations is really really cool and the item Artwork is cool.
- I like that you need to chose where you use your batteries to see in the dark
- The Story conclusion as really bad, as soon as stuff got concrete it got bad
- The walking around and turns made no sense to us. The game says you need to walk there first, but it does not change anything. It is a bit to much dependent on your own roleplaying (which I do not like)
- You kinda kept a lot of items that you never needed, one thing I like in Unlock, that you remove old stuff to have a better overview at some point. Especially in Act3 with so many locations and items, but you only needed 20% of the stuff on the board was annoying.
Unlock is the gold standard for us as well. I liked the first two entries in this series, but the third one basically made me give it up
The next one "Volcano Island" has just been released. :-)
Oh man, can't wait until it makes it over here to the USA!
Logical ways = Old School Adventure Games does not compute!
Not unless I can try to combine the chicken with everything in my inventory....
Still, thanks for the review!
Haha, well, that IS a good point :)
Don't forget to say that they tend to be adult themed.
That's a good thing to highlight. I did call this out specifically in the playthrough.
The Dungeon wasn't very "adult", though. I played with my 7 year-old and didn't have to avoid anything except toning down some violent descriptions.
@@OneStopCoopShop my fault for not watching the play through
No worries. Monochrome Inc certainly gets pretty disturbing by the end :)
