The Fu yaning and Yujin confrontation really left me so uncomfortable and anxious. My eyes really doubled in size and the amount of awkwardness I felt was out of this world.

I think it's actually good that they don't show a lot of the fan favorites. Other trainees deserve to get a chance too. Bahhiyih already has a HUGE following and her spot is pretty much secured (let's face it, the girl has the most support globally and domestically of all the trainees).
It's a good thing that the fans who just tune in for Yujin or Bahhiyih are kinda "forced" to watch other trainees, especially in the first few episodes. I do think Bahhiyih could get a little more screen time in the future, but there's already fans who are mad cuz Mnet uses Yujin for views. But I hope that those who are just there for Yujin or Bahhiyih will find other talented girls to vote on (such as Shana, Ziyin, Yurina, and many of the other girls)

If you completely ignore Fu Yaning as a person and mute everything but the performance, she’s quite decent as an idol. Kinda hard to put aside her image as a problematic wannabe thug though.
I watched the first episode too and I liked the J-trainees the best so far. Kawaguchi Yurina, Ezaki Hikaru, and Nonaka Shana all made in on my pick list.
If she make it then there will be a lot of scandal of her and it will bring down the group.
I agree with you she’s talented and it’s a shame she felt like that her own talent couldn’t speak loud enough so she felt the need to drag other girls down like she did throughout the episode:/ I’m kinda glad though bc I wouldn’t want to stan someone who secretly acted like this

I wanted to like Fu Yaning because she’s really like the full package but I just can’t look over the way she acts
it was shocking to hear what yaning said to yujin, but she was rude right away when she was first put into her “all-rounder” cell. she said “i didnt feel anything when i saw shana. i dont think she has what it takes to be an all-rounder.” it was just sad bc the girls put into cells are supposed to bond over their similarities
i also hate mnet’s editing!! they made some of the performances they skipped over seem so bad. one of my favorites is wang yale & i think she did well
It's a mistranslation. She said Shana's appearance is not like an all rounder so it's surprising. Not really bc she thought Shana doesn't has what it takes to be an all rounder

Personally, I was disappointed that I didn't get to see the trainees I'm most hyped for. I also think that mnet has already chosen the trainees they want to push and are giving them more screen time. That being said, I'm really looking forward to:
Yujin (for obvious reasons)
Seungeun: she is from a group called BVNDIT, really good dancer, they haven't had a comeback in over a year and I'm worried about their future.
Bahiyyih (she is so cute)
Roada Xu/Xu Ziyin: She was on Youth with You 2 and easily one of the best vocals there and probably here too, luckily she speaks korean quite well and is Yujin's cellmate, so I'm hoping to see her debut this time.

Hi some of you have pointed out i was too harsh on Fu Yaning and upon reflection i realized that is the case.
Thank you so much for pointing out the issue, even if I don't like her or agree with her - I shouldn't have been so harsh on her cause she's still a person at the end of the day who has feelings.
In future videos, i will make sure i don't bring her up or talk badly about anybody else (minus mnet lol). I am sorry for any inconveniences i caused.
Honestly yes she's human but this girl doesn't deserve a platform, she is an awful person & needs to be cancelled, she legit is doing this to her self, sad no one actually stops her & makes her realize her personality is not good to be an idol, if she did debut with the new girl group..that group is doomed from the start, down hill fast, she has talent but her terrible attitude makes her ugly on the inside.

Ikr, right when I saw that cell is was like "you guys need to disperse, FAST 😬". They're gonna get dragged down because of her and, sure, she would be an asset to a performance but a good majority of viewers decided not to vote for her. I love the other 2 in her cell too! So I hope they don't get eliminated from being in the same cell as her.

She also said that they will do better than the original version of the song which is, such a clownery for me. Her expression and tryin to be strong like not smiling and her attitude is just not it. Yeah as fan of cpop for ages i have to say that that wasn't even much of a diss tbh🤣 also she sang half of the chorus before saying 'but you dont' , the viral clip where she said "we go up, but you don't" looks way too rude than the actual situation. If you watch the episode you'd understand.
I don’t think the other contestant just need to worship yujin. I know yujin is experienced idol but now she is in a competition with them. They are equal. All the contestants should be treated equally. No hate towards yujin I hope she debuts in this new group.

But there is no competition between Korean, Chinese, and Japanese idols because their are 3 guaranteed spots for each. Maybe because each group but no one from the Chinese or Japanese groups should be competitive towards yujin because she’s not fighting for theirspots
But she is the original singer of Helicopter. Even now she is also in the survival show, Fu Yaning should still respect her as respect the original singer.

i dont think its a bad thing for mnet to focus on newer trainees instead of bahiyyih cherry bullet etc. like yeah they bring in a lot of viewers but the other trainees deserve screentime too lol otherwise its just gonna be outright unfair for them. episode 2 is gonna be when they actually perform their auditions so theyre gonna get a lot of screentime there anyways. other than that i agree w everything else you said
Also I agree. Pop star was good, they were talented BUT it didn't stand out. They looked like generic kpop idols which is good but not enough. In this show where everyone else is also talented, you need to know what qualities separate you from the others. Some people didn't agree with the decision but I also think the mentors made the right decision.

I respectfully disagree. I'm not saying this to be rude but I feel like nearly everyone spouts this same opinion because it's what the judges said + Yeyoung and Dayeon not getting top 9 stickers.
Dayeon came blasting out at her rap and her voice was beaming, Yeyoung was even better imo, vocals were extremely consistent, flawless ad libs while doing a difficult dance, and she's a beautiful visual (basically seemed like this whole performance was designed to show off her strengths). If you watch very closely (like I have because I liked it so much), there was a point or two where both of them danced more sharply than Suyeon and I think Suyeon got the top 9 sticker over them primarily because she also did a good job and Sumni is obsessed with people that look fierce. Honestly quite sad how much it stumped the start for Yeyoung and Dayeon and really hope they don't get eliminated prematurely.
Feels good to finally say this, not many people seem to share my perspective. Please disagree or share any thoughts with me, haven't had a chance to discuss this with anyone yet :)
i think the reason they're trying not to give bahiyyih screentime is so ppl won't think mnet is using her for views-that, or (and let's hope i'm wrong) they're planning on eliminating her 💀💀💀

I don't think they'll edit her out. She was featured quite prominently in the pre-show content (O.O.O and k-group unboxing). If they wanted to edit her out they should've started already, it's too late to make people forget she's there now

She already has so many haters from being the most popular participant. If the show isn't careful they'll hate on them for not giving the other participants as much screentime.
I think they didn't give her much time, because they didn't want to introduce her, yet. Like when they will say she is Huening, obviously just after that need to be talk about idol brother and famous/talented family. Which give me a hope, is that she was a center in a short clip from performance. If we won't see her next Friday, it will be the end

Jiwon actually got several segments in the episode (she got more screentime than May): we saw her "girls who love chicken feet cell" connect and I thought her saying Hsinwei must be the number 1 beauty was hilarious (we stan a humble queen).
Also there's no way they'll edit out Bahiyyih, she got ending fairies in both O.O.O's.
There seems to be a lot of differences in faves but can we agree we all want Bahiyyih and Yujin to get in the group?

Topic Discussion: Fu Yaning
Honestly, when I watched the teaser of the first episode, she left a really bad impression on me especially when Sunmi and Tiffany's face went down, I immediately thought she fucked up (sorry for my language but I can't find any better word to use :)). But when I watched the actual 2.5 hours of the episode, (rip💀) that whole drama situation wasn't actually that bad tbh. I found it quite entertaining actually because although she was in fact being disrespectful towards a senior who has already debuted and has a huge fanbase, the other girls looked like they were enjoying the drama because who wouldn't and Yujin handled the situation very well with her dance of Helicopter to show Yaning who is boss.
The part of her I didn't like though is when she said she didn't think her cellmate had the qualification of being an all-rounder, which I found very offensive because, with her alike, ALL the girls had their hardships and struggles to be where they are now.
Another thing I didn't like or more so wonder why was when I heard of her N-word situation. I am speaking as a member of the Black community (so please don't come after me) I was enraged when I heard of this. It is not just a word to be thrown around, especially by her so I was just in confusion on the matter. I thought to myself maybe she didn't understand the usage of the word or who can say it, and then I thought again that she did know but still went ahead to say it. I kinda calmed down a bit though after I heard that she did in fact post an apology on Weibo (a Chinese social media platform) about the matter. I did let it go eventually because although it did happen, she learned from it and I do hope that she doesn't do it again. But yeah that's all I have to say about her... for now 😏

east asian ppl usually carefreely use alot of slurs in the country. cuz the n word kinda means like 'friend' or 'bro' in the language. i just dislike that ppl r saying "she should know since they speak english" like bish wot r u on. and also most social media + google r blocked in china so it wouldn't be easy for her to find out. plus did ppl rly expect her to learn what it means by looking it up💀💀 like if i was singing a song from a different country i wouldn't read through the entire song and each words meaning now would i. but she is in the wrong either ways and have already apologised.

last but not least, i think Fu yaning is ok, in the newest episode she shown to be a fair leader, so i kinda like that. she's not my pick tho
Every reality show needs a villain. The fact that there is so much hate against Fu Yaning shows that the audience is eating it up which is exactly what mnet intended.
Fu Yaning is definitely a good performer, better than most of the contestant tbh... the thing about her is since she is very confident, her stage presence really does outshine some of the trainees there and i can't blame the trainers to pick her even if her attitude is bad

MNET doesn't care about these type of stuff, its very clear that there gonna use Fu Yaning as a "villain" of the show just like any other survival shows they've done. But you gotta give credits to where credits due, Fu Yaning can really perform well because shes very confident in herself and thats why shes ranked 7 in the C group & a top 9 contestant

Something a lot of people don't know about the c-group twins is that they're amazing dancers, they usually perform together doing only dancing and no singing, that's what made the performance "bad", they both have no training with singing and dancing at once, but they're amazing performers and I can't wait for them to show that.

There was a lot of tension when Fu Yaning did that statement to Choi YuJin but I think it's more of a Show the Money vibe just like Tiffany said and she just got a strong personality that might rubbed off to the majority. We also need to consider that this show is being run by MNET. Let's cut them off some slack.

If anything it’s beneficial for her. She’s getting popular because of it, and she definitely will live up to it. She’s v talented and she basically has a guaranteed spot in the lineup.
I personally think that bahiyyih did have a good amount of close up screen time in the first ep, if ur a person that wants to see ur fav, keep in mind that there are 99 girls and that the first ep were was insanely focused on the girls that would perform and the reactions from the girls that give u, u know an actual reaction lika an OMG face. Bahiyyih is pretty calm like an angel when she gives a reaction, she even gave a thumbs up after a girls performance which shows she is sincere. I also am a fan of bahiyyih and I want to see more clips of her but then I realized there are 99 girls, bahiyyih got 3-4 screen time in the first ep and to me I accepted that b/c there are other girls where they didn't get that much screen time. But for real, with just 1 screen time, u can't forget bahiyyih cuz just by sitting she looks like an angel, I'm not even lying. Don't overthink stuff, this is just the beginning, when they are actually performing to compete, they'll be plenty of screen time for bahiyyih.
Edit: bahiyyih actually got 9 screen times so idk why us are getting sad. Mnet probably saved the best for last, we just gotta wait
I watched the entire show too. But honestly feel like dropping the show because the whole elimination with “cell group” thing just doesn’t make sense to me. It just feels like MNET’s attempt to create a buzz over it (when it comes to the elimination round). At the end of the show, I’m like “return me the 2.5 hours of my time”. But maybe I will just watch the performance video that’s uploaded on CZcams in the future.
And regarding FUYANING, YES! Totally agree with you. She NEEDS to know that LIKEABILITY is very important in such survival shows (especially since this is her first appearance on this show?). I know she did participate in a China survival show before. But many didn’t watch it. So what was presented in the first episode, is really going to be our first impression of her.
Just like you, I was already very turnoff by her attitude in the teasers. And the comments she made in that close door private interview, was so UNFILTERED (in a bad way). She was literally judging one of her cell group member’s appearance saying that she doesn’t seems like an “all rounder” nor “in the SAME LEVEL as her”. I mean it’s okay to think that way from first impression but to say that out??? Was that necessary? In my opinion, it’s always better to protect oneself and be extra careful with the things that you said. Especially so, for someone who is aspiring to be an idol who will literally be under the public eyes. And I don’t quite understand why there is a need to diss yujin. Although she did make her intention clear that she wanted to boost her member’s confidence but it doesn’t sit right with me. Like won’t your members feel more nervous (now that others have higher expectations of them and will compare their performance with CLC’s).
Regardless, even if she manage to step into the industry (for whatever reasons)… she needs to remember that Yujin is still her sunbae.
EDIT: I am well aware that many factors might have play a part in how she portrayed herself in the first episode (how it MAY BE scripted, and might just be a case of cultural differences). But since it’s only the first episode, and that’s just my very honest first impression of her. But I sincerely hope (and more than happy if) she proves me/us wrong in the upcoming episode since it’s not like she can clarify anything until the show ends since the trainees are probably on SNS ban, like they can’t talk about their thoughts on the show just yet. Because frankly speaking, her first impression wasn’t likeable (and apparently many felt that way too). It’s been days since the first episode, and believe it or not… I am still trying to wrap my head around how she literally blew away her chance of debuting through the prog with her attitude in the first episode (Ps: it’s more than that diss that was a turn off, in my opinion. I know that many have mentioned that it’s might be evil editing or scripted. But it’s down to her body language, her tone, her unfiltered thoughts about other trainee everything of which just adds on which makes me view her negatively for her first impression. And it might be a little far-fetched if every tiny details were scripted).

@@lathifahdhiya723 THIS IS SO TRUE! Literally every other thing just feels like the produce series. Even down to the PR videos and the games (the part where trainees have to stick their hands to guess the object in the mystery box?).
Although, the cell group concept is DIFFERENT from produce, but very annoyingly, it’s a step towards a bad direction. And a step towards Mnet having chance of rigging the show (but harder to get detected).

Mnet could make the girls they don’t want to win to be cellmates with girls that most likely going to be eliminated. Although all I just said was just assumptions. @@lathifahdhiya723 true!! to be honest, the cell group thing is unfair from the beginning. Since some members are formed into groups based on abilities such as (the number 1s in their respective country; the all rounders; people who have produced albums before). While, the others were based on some very random interest. And only top 9 are able to choose their cell group members. And very likely, the top 9 will more or less have people that belong to groups that are categorized based on abilities. Idk how long will this cell group system last (like are they going to keep it throughout their entire show or not).
Moreover, when it comes to elimination round, let’s say a particular group with one member that are general public faves got eliminated because of the system, then the immediate thing that comes to viewers mind is that the other two trainee votes must be so little that the popular trainee got eliminated. Rather than thinking that it could be rigged. So it can easily go undetected in that case.
But after giving a second thought, I think Mnet probably came out with this system because they want to have an even number of trainees representing each countries though. After all, the show is catered to global fans (and particularly appealing more to China and Japan viewers). Especially since knetz often voiced out their opinion on not wanting a group with China members (due to political beliefs that China members tend to have). But it can also be resolved if Mnet make everyone have their picks from different countries? Like if only can vote for 3 members (it have to be one from each country for the vote to count).

i think that about the pop stars group, the stylists should have done better. suyeon obviously stands out, but i think rather than really her aura or talent, her pants color just doesnt leave you. because she has a much more outstanding color on her pants, she automatically stands out. they should have done all in very different color or all the same shade

I mean your top three kind of perfectly illustrates one of the major problems with this show.. It's just not fair. Well, there's LOTS of reasons it's unfair but this is one of the BIG ones. Your faves are just the trainees that you already know/already have a fan base.. It's not exactly based on much else. I love CLC and cherry bullet but I don't like when members from groups that have not only debuted but have multiple albums already come on these competition shows as if they are just like the other girls.. It's happened almost every season now. I personally think someone with a certain amount of album/single sales either in a group or solo should not be allowed to join the show. It's just not fair when the show is set up to reward those with more fans and it makes it extremely hard for talented yet unknown trainees to be noticed. Eventually the show will just be filled with idols who have already debuted and have professional experience in the industry. At that point the whole opportunity the show offers and the "follow your dreams!" mentality they push will seem even more cheap and pointless than it already does. But that's just my opinion.
Also I wanna say that I dont dislike the idols themselves that come on shows like this. I respect that CLC and Cherry bullet and any other groups that sent girls here are trying to bring more fans and attention to their groups. I respect them and the pressure they must feel as idols that are already professionals in this industry.. That being said though I still don;t think its fair to everyone as a whole if there is that big of a gap in between contestants.. I mean there are literal unknown foreign trainees competing against extremely popular and well known Korean idols.. it's just not fair.
Lastly, you were too harsh on Fu Yaning imo. I don't agree with the way she handled the situation but you went in on her a little too hard..

I was really uncomfortable with the argument about K group should be better than everyone because KPOP started with them. And that one girl saying that the J group would've gotten a different rating if they were in the K group. That's just rude to be honest. I felt really mad when they were saying that. The only advantage they had is really, the language (you can say the place too). Everyone of them, no matter what group they were in, still trained and made effort to get there. For them to say that they ranked high because they were having a different standard than the K group is so mean.

i wouldn't blame the girls tbh, it's just been drilled into their minds (even the j and c contestants) that the korean trainees are just expected to do better because they get proper training and the media exposure in korea that covers j and c idols (for example produce 101 with that one japanese trainee and produce 48 with the collaboration of akb48). also racism and idol mistreatment plays into this too, foreign trainees like vivi from loona and the j-line from izone got lesser lines and screentime, a lot of netizens think this automatically translates to them being untalented or inexperienced.

They are going to save her to ep 2 bc they know her fans want to watch her perform. It's the same reason why they cut Yujin's performance and literally went "to be continued". Sad but it gets the viewership up.

I'm reading these comments about fyn and I agree that not bc someone knows English it means they should know the "culture" and everything. the thing is, way before gp999, some of her fans try to reach out to her to educate her about the n word multiple times but she completely ignore them. people tried to educate her and yet she still didn't apologize until before ep 1 just because mnet and her company saw all the hate comments.

I just hope people who came across this video next, stop hating yaning anymore. She's already mentally hurt for some manipulated scene created by Mnet. After several season of the produce series, I can't believe that people are still falling for the editing of Mnet. She doesn't even deserve the hate at the first place. Her reputation are severely damaged through this incident. She gained too much negativity and it breaks my heart to know that she secretly cried to her parents but still act tough in front of the camera for the audience and her fans. She can always choose to cry in front of the camera in the show to let people pity her but she didn't.
I'm glad that most of the people change their opinion towards her later on on the show.

I dont like Fu Yaning's treatment of Yujin but I have to admit that her performance was one of best on the show, even including the K-group and J-group trainees. If she hadn't shot herself in the foot like this, I would have bet on her being in the Top 9.

Well, I think they should have made a trio based on their rank... Like K01, J01, C01 one group and K02, J02, C02 another cell....and in this way till 33..In this way there would have been less chance of elimination of really talented artists because of one/ two average/poor performers. Their debut is dependent on it and they should have thought something better to assimilate them than to randomly form a group.
If it were such a difference between the groups it would be obvious of which ones to vote off. And if they had already strategized which ones were worst to best there’d be no point in the competition. But I think that they should keep one member from an eliminated group, that would be more fair imo

you have to fully take note when watching Mnet suvivor show... is fully autotuned vocal. sometimes when you listen everything, it feel abit off and you start to wonder why the comments on vocals crack or certain things come out that didnt came out of the full ep.
also another note to take in, specially this kind of survival show. you need to give even higher expectation when you already debut. but i do guess cause in PD48 the japanese did not have the same system with how kpop trainees train which is why those japanese side got lesser harsh words from the mentor or teacher. they are even given lower expectation as well.
as for screen time, it seem like they editing pretty much like show me the money season 1 or 2

I get where you are coming from but still I don’t get how you find this fair? yes those girls are popular compared to most but if they don’t get screen time like other trainees won’t they still fall behind and not debut? These girls have worked hard too and they deserve some recognition for that, can’t believe people want to discredit them so bad that they are happy they aren’t shown, then what’s the point of having them in show? Just to get popularity for the show and benefit those other trainees? That’s selfish of mnet!!! Plus I love Yujin but it’s kinda clear with the show revolving around her, mnet wants to debut her (and I hope she does) but the other idol trainees not getting attention also shows that ment wants to hold them back! I really think it's too early to say anyone's going to fall behind. It's been one episode. I just think that we should give all the girls a shot rather than only watch the show for one person, because mnet may disappoint all of us. I think you're assuming a lot about what I think.
I just finished watching the first episode and here are my thoughts (off topic but this is my first time watching a show like this I mean I have seen clips of Produce 48 since I am a Wiz*one and I have seen some other clips of shows like this but I have never sat down and watched a show like this). Also I split my thoughts in paragraphs so it will be easier to read.
I remember when it first started when they were meeting each other that was so awkward and also kind of sad because I remember there was one connect word that was "They almost debuted together" when they met each other they were "Wait! I know you!" that was sad.
I already feel connected to the girls since I watched all of the videos of them that were on CZcams (It took me 3 days to finish that I almost fell asleep during the Japanese groups videos) so I know all of them I don't recognize all of them at first but I am able to tell who they are after they tell their story.
For the performances the first few weren't the best but it got better after that I think my favorite was the Korean Maknae lines "Crazy" because I remember that no one was expecting that since they were all so cute also during the performance one of the contestants mic fell off but she didn't show a reaction and kept it professional and when they turned around she put the mic in her pocket and I thought that was really cool and professional I also really liked J groups "Boombaya" because so far all of the J groups had been cute but this one broke out of that stereotype and I really liked "Kick it"as well.
Overall I don't think there was a performance that I hated or that blew me away because I think we have to remember that they have time to improve so if they didn't do well they can still improve through the show I also think that a reason some of them weren't performing as well was because they were nervous but tbh I would be too because they were performing in front of Sunmi, Tiffany, Yeo jin Goo all VERY famous people and all of these dance/vocal coaches that have worked with famous idols so I think a reason some of them didn't perform as well could be this.
As for the mentors/coaches I think they are doing a good job personally I thought they would be stricter but than again this is only the first episode. Tbh I am glad they are not super strict because I really don't want to see these kids cry (I don't know why I called them kids I am younger than all of them) I don't think that there is anything wrong with being strict sometimes you need to be strict.
As for my thoughts on the whole Fu Ya Ning situation I definitely don't agree with what she did at all but I don't think that she should get that much hate and before one of you replies to me saying that she is a racist and has said the N word multiple times I know that and that's even more wrong than insulting Yujin but as a Kpop stan this is nothing new. People are hating on her for doing this (I don't agree at all with what she did and I think she should aplogize) when all idols do stuff like this and people avoid that/defend them I am not going to call any idol out but I want you to know that EVERY idol has done something wrong and people often defend then saying that they are Korean/other race they wouldn't know (That is the lamest excuse even if they didn't know they should learn) but now that she has been antagonized people are attacking her. Now I am not going to spend my time defending her and I don't think what she did was right at all but I am not going to start hating her because of that I am going to watch all the other episodes to see if she is worth it.
Also I have seen a lot of people complaining about how long it is but tbh I am glad that it's long because I get to know them better also I have all the time in the world and I am lonely/bored.

now i dont know how they formed the groups BUT i feel like if they auditioned with people they came to the show with (like in previous produce shows), there would be less terrible performances??? like obviously the baby monsters were a huge success and some other groups too but i feel like there are trainees that are known to be good and already werent able to show their full potential bc they didnt know how to pick the right song for them. but i guess it's part of the competition.
