  • In this video, I walk up the Walk-up Trail of Stone Mountain GA. Stone Mountain Park is about 30 minutes outside of downtown Atlanta. It's about 1 mile walking to the top of the mountain and you will need good grippy shoes for this hike.
There is no edited audio, just the sounds of going up the trail. I did have a bit of trouble holding the gopro going back down- next time I'll use a different mount, so you may see some wobbly footage as I try to get back down the mountain.
This is a strenous hike that requires you to be able to walk over some large boulders along the first half of the flatter trail at the beginning. However towards the last half of the mile of the trail, the walk becomes quite steep and will require good balance, shoes that wrap around your foot and some people even use hiking poles.
I would avoid any sandals or dress shoes for this trail. It's along granite and I can imagine this being quite slippery when wet also.
Also if you have any physical limitations, please watch the video to help gauge whether you think you can complete the trail. Alternatively they do have a sky ride lift to the top- which may be a safer way to the top for some people.
I hope this inspires you to get out onto the trails.
