This has inspired a certain someone in my house to take on French Horn once the trumpet is in place. It truly is the finest truest and mellow instrument in the entire brass selection. Beautiful performance.
Beautiful. I can only hope to sound 1/100 of how good this man sounds on this instrument. This man makes the instrument sing in such a divine way. Amazing playing Stagni. All I can say. :,)
Beautiful. I play Trombone and I like to compare the sound of other instruments to a french horn because it has such a clear, straight foward sound whereas a trumpet, lets say, has kind of a rumble sound. Love the sound :)
I keep coming back to hear this particular soloist. He is such "a gentle touch"--other people who don't have a lot of musicality or breath support would just slaughter the gentleness available in this solo. A lot of well-known soloists, who have been recorded, have ruined the solo (if you prefer the gentility of the melody over a big brass sound).
***** This solo you need proper air control. You need to be able to also bring out the emotions and story behind it. You can easily play this song, but they don't want to just see your techniques, but also what you personally bring and your style.. Here's the link to where you can find the printable free sheet. www.hornsociety.org/tchaikovsky/tchaik5
There is nothing like the sound of beautiful horn. I have to thank my brother for suggesting this instrument i have enjoyed every year i have played the French Horn. - Dawn
when I play my french horn I move...sometimes if the music goes with swaying I'll sway...or if I go from low to high I'll kinda move back then when I go to the higher note I'll move out and raise the horn and sometimes I'll just move back and forth...it all depends on the player sometimes people are better just sitting there like a rock and sometimes people feel the music when they play and play better moving with it
Lol the two hardest instruments rip but dang tho as an oboe player wow 👏🏻 it’s funny cuz the oboe player in our band (me) has a crush on the French Horn player and one thing we have in common: we both play SUPER FREAKING HARD INSTRUMENTS
Emma, never give it up. I played French Horn in school too, that was almost 40 years ago. I gave it up because I got braces, and I miss it soo much. NEVER give it up if you love it!
In general with brass instruments, to determine how hard one is to play. You look at the instrument and see how much the metal turns. The trombone does not turn a lot but the French horn turns so much it also have a small mouthpiece which makes it the hardest instrument
@ILovePeanutButer7181 In Europe Horns are reversed from what's standard in US. Thumb is F, released is Bb! They also switch horns in a different place depending of if they are going down or up the scale.
my school horn is a Conn D (i'm in high school)...the best horn player in the region (also my private instructor) told the school to get that model. It plays pretty well, but it would be better if some 6th grader hadn't dropped it (twice!) on a stand leg :P...
You can see it's a Duerk and not an Alex because the tail is 1 piece. The Alex (and most horns) use 2 pieces with a joiner, usually located at about the 10 o'clock position from the audience's perspective, when the horn is played.
I would say the Horn is up there. Just because of A) How hard it is to learn because no matter what you will sound terrible when you first pick it up and into your first year or so it is really easy to be disappointed when you dont sound good and B) How freaking close the intervals are in the high registers.
How come? It's read like any other Treble (unless the key signature changed for that piece) clef note. You can read sheet music. If you can't read sheet then its not the Key of the Instrument at all.
@Paintballer6432 Heck! Check out the version by Stefan Dohr & the Berlin Philharmonic. The oboe is a real 'Gene Kelly' of a dsncer, but oh, so beautiful!
@LlamaLuver86 In HS & college I played an old generic single F, a Reynolds and a Holton. Our professor was so proud of his new Conn D but I have wanted to try the Alex as played by the "dream team" from BPO. I thought the Conn was too heavy and dark.
even I play French and horn and let me say... that's hard as hell to play lol. I have tried that song over and over again but I just can never get the right tone
Such a beautiful sound can come from such an oddly shaped and sculpted piece of metal. So inspiring .
As a French hornist myself, I can only hope to become half as talented as this amazing artist.
Belive in you! Don't dream it, be it!
Cody Franklin heyyy there my hornyy buddyy 😂😃
i love french horns. That warm, uplifting sound is so relaxing.
The Horn/Clarinet/Oboe dialogue is just sublime! Tchaikovsky was an absolute genius at orchestration!

I only played french horn for a year in high school, couldn't afford my own horn. I miss it terribly :(
My wife's cousin, Ann Henderson (on Facebook) is giving one away.
Remember playing my old used two-pick up electric guitar. We miss things we no longer do when we were younger.
Kenzie Phillips me tooo 😭😭😭

yeah i agree. french horn was nuts in middle school
They're lying. The triangle is harder
Beautiful job; I'm thinking of doing this in my church in May; I've been playing for 60 years and never tire of the sound of the horn!
The french horn player was amazing!
I wish there was a LOVE rather than LIKE button for youtube.
The french hornist is incredible and this piece is divine.
There is nothing like the sound of beautiful horn. I have to thank my brother for suggesting this instrument i have enjoyed every year i have played the French Horn.

Such beautiful music that I can't express in words.
Nice job dude! 👍
I think this all the time!
1:50 that trumpet sitting on the stand behind the horn soloist. so awesome
I meant mellowest. It has a very organic sound. Not too bright, which I love about the French Horn. Wonderful opportunity to play this solo.
Its so... *snif sniff* b-b-beautifullll!!! :''D Haha I love this
playing this solo tomorrow :)
i play clarinet and cello and piano but i love french horn :(
grande interpretazione, stupendo il suono del corno

Buitiful
I play French horn in my school band
bravo
Danke.
God i love my instrument
I actually am learning the French horn, i play a double horn
I play Double Horn too F/Bb ! I actually started off with the Double Horn!
Hank The some guy. I played French Horn for four years and thanks to it being in the key of F, I can't fucking read sheet music. Thanks, band class.
How come? It's read like any other Treble (unless the key signature changed for that piece) clef note. You can read sheet music. If you can't read sheet then its not the Key of the Instrument at all.
The instrument being in the key of F has nothing to do with being able to read music.

@stickom This is not an Alex 103 - it is a "Dürk D3", a horn in the 103 style but some say it is even better than the original Alex ;)
Im a percussionist but I love the french horn
... and all this music comes from standard Alex 103... BRAVO!!!!
@bermicmon ... thanks, then it is Alex 103 but in somewhat metaphorcal meaning...
il suono del corno è sempre epico e felice, come tonalità intendo, esiste qualche opera nella quale il corno prende tonalità gravi, e tristi?
my heart broke at 3:35
Obeo player= the best chair dancer ever..
El mas bello solo para corno francés,maravilloso.
A couple of pitch problems, but I really like his interpretation. This is really a tough one to get the pitches right.
As a french horn player I absolutely love this
Can some one tell me how you can compare the The French horn and the Shofar.
1:50 "This guy is great but my moustache is better" Troll.
Danilo, great job my friend. What model of horn do you play?

at 3.04 is that a double bass or cello... and anyone know what key a note its in? seriously, obsessed.
@Paintballer6432 Does that guy to his right look a bit annoyed with his dance?
how can he manage to do the whole solo in Bb? i cant memorize the fingerings in Bb
One could argue that "Face it: I'm smarter than you," would be a more appropriate punctuation.
I just got a French horn
Tchaikovsky Symphony Nº5, 2nd mvt. solo horn, Chepe
If he plays everything on the B flat horn, why doesn't he switch the horn to B flat? With the 103 that's just a matter of replacing a screw.
@bendix5 oooh i see, thats weird :S
I guess I did well. I was given a first division rating. Thanks for asking lol :)
Ciao ma il corno francese è uguale alla tromab cioè i tasti e come far uscire il suono?
@MultiMini888 How was it?
by far best sounding instrument in my opinion other than the saxophone but has a dif type of tone to it
thanks I play alto saxophone
well i was hoping that you would try and put the enemy to sleep lol.
Hiss sax is awful git gud ;) but in all seriousness Euphonium has the best sound characteristics when plays well
