I just bought my daughter a double horn and she doesn't know it yet. It's going to be a surprise. I often surprise her with new instruments. I see a lot of women playing the French horn, so I think she will be in good company.
As an intermediate horn player learning this piece, this helps a ton to be able to hear a master play this piece. I'm in awe and incredibly excited to play this piece!
I heard this first when I was about 5 years old. I fell in love with it right then. The time I believe I heard it performed best was in a concert hall in Graz, Austria. I still love this piece. Out of all the great composers, I love Mozart the best.
Bobo Dieter Not on the French Horn you don't, especially that fast. The harmonics are so close together, it'd be easier to lip trill than to even try to trill with the valves.
In all honesty, I'm 100% woodwind, but french horn just... I don't even know, I might cross over. French horn and flute are my top favorite instruments, their sound is mesmerizing and it just leaves you in a trance, so pleasant to hear. I play bass clarinet (bass isnt bad, but I'm torn with my bari sax) Anyways, Baborak, my God, that's all I have to say.
The Horn takes years of practice and work. It won't sound good till then 😂 if you're willing. I love this instrument, but it's annoying taking all the heat that I suck in my band lol and I practice an hour and 30 minutes a day minimum!
I could play like that if I was 100000 times better, if I practiced 26 hours a day, had the guy as my french horn teacher, and if I was Jesus Christ, miracle worker from Gaillee. Almost there! XD
I've always found the sound of the french horn to be likened to that of an aristocratic poet, with a bit of high brow humor thrown in. Marvelous performance.
Wow, I have been playing french horn for about 5 1/2 years now, and am going to audition for the Boise you philharmonic, and that is want i want my audition piece to be.
Mozart , Mozart and Mozart . When all sounds in the universe fade away , nothing will remain but the muziek of Mozart. With my respect for all other great composers .
All of Mozart’s wind concertos are truly something special, and this comes from their apparent simplicity. Others like the Flute (and harp) concerti as well as the other horn concerti have little to no counterpoint, nothing truly groundbreaking, but there is a charm in it, a voice brought by clever instrumentation and technique, that only Mozart could muster. I started listening to Mozart from the wind concerti, and I have to say, it lead me to amazing stuff.
Okay, I was second chair french horn in high school under the instruction of the amazing Robert Sheldon. But there is NO WAY I could've done even half as good as this genius!! 😮 (For the record, I graduated high school in 1997. I was renting my french horn from the school. I cried when i had to give it back after graduation. 😅)
His tone is just so warm. I've never heard anything else like it.
That's why the Berliner Philharmoniker prefers the Alexander 103: this 'romantic' sound.
Mozart’s just seems to have this magical effect of making the soloist feel like this is the concert of their life. Oh how I love his expositions.
Nikolas Gaudreau YESSSSS
What a nice sound! He is one of the best solo horn players in the world. His Mozart makes me happy. Bravo!
I just love the sound of the horn, no instrument gives me the chills like the horn, so keep blowing guys
Check out the horn solos in Four last songs.
Not only does Baborak kill it (as always), but this orchestra REALLY interprets Mozart well!
Agree
This is hands down one of my most favorite pieces to play on the french horn. Horn players just gotta love them some Mozart man.

Jennifer Crawford clarinetists as well!! the mozart clarinet concerto is sooooo fun to play
The dedication to practice and still having the passion is really to be commended
Miles McKinley how old are you may i ask?
MrGoony01 Funny how fast technology notifies me. Lol 21.

Oh man, brings back high school memories of my first REAL horn concerto.

ni hao

That's the best cadenza on this concerto I think I've heard.
Listen to berry tuckwells
I heard that fam, couldn't have said it better myself. Crunchy munchy cabba labba ding dong and all.
J Jimenez I Love You.
so fluid and strong - muscular, but not over-aggressive. well done!
Yeah they all managed everything perfectly.
how could Mozart walk around with that sound in his head day and night?
He had a lot more pieces going on in his head than just this one
Ken Long well he wasn't rich so this is all he really had going for him. His surroundings weren't pleasant.
I work all day with this beautiful piece in my ear. Best ear worm ever
Me too
JUST BY PUTTING ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER
Very nice sound of Horn.
That's Beautiful and soft sound. I would like to have your tranquillity playng in front of so many people . Bravo !
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 🇦🇹 🇦🇹 🇦🇹
I love his interpretation! And those trills... are so fantastic! and the cadenza...
What a great Horn Player :)!
6:13 gotta love it, people start coughing when cadenza starts
So.... how many years has it been since he's missed a note? Dang. That was perfect.
Sara wwily
the only time i've heard him miss a note is once during a 27 min performance of gliere's horn concerto on YT and you can barely tell he missed it
Now only if I can walk into my college audition do tht and walk out
I played this in 8th grade after 2 years of playing and won solo and ensemble it’s possible to play anything
@@parkergent9206 Good for you my guy. Its been four years since that last post. xD Now Im finishing up my degree with 3 recitals under my belt. :D
The last horn part was very impressive. I could only hold my breath and just watched it.
Love that deep, brilliant horn sound.
Beautiful... spectacular horn!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece, Jennifer.
2:46 Pretty sick lip trill.
Miles Gaultney It`s easier to play a finger trill with 0-1
+Bobo Dieter one does not simply finger trill a whole tone
Bobo Dieter Not on the French Horn you don't, especially that fast. The harmonics are so close together, it'd be easier to lip trill than to even try to trill with the valves.
I SAW THAT!!! I rewinded that about ten times thinking, "wait I didn't see his fingers moving" and I'm just omg he didn't use his fingersssss.
Ughhhh it is so hard...

Horn is the most beautiful brass instrument. I tried to play a clarinet once and could not. French Horn all the way.
REDorsey all brass instruments have their own beauty
I could play like that if I was 100000 times better, if I practiced 26 hours a day, had the guy as my french horn teacher, and if I was Jesus Christ, miracle worker from Gaillee. Almost there! XD
it's not about time. it's about practicing right and slow. dedication and effectivity is key
Timothy Wendel that is abig true
Thomas Zhang .
But you are not a Jesus Christ ....
But trying - always appreciated!
Good luck!
🎵🎷🎶🎺🎶🎷🎵
Or you could play a better cadenza and call it a day.
Thomas Zhang t
Incredible performance!! Blown away by this guys vibrato and overall tone. Such an awesome instrument.
I've always found the sound of the french horn to be likened to that of an aristocratic poet, with a bit of high brow humor thrown in. Marvelous performance.
The horn is an Alexander Model 103 . One of the preferred horns of the Berlin Philharmonic.
Holton Farkas my Favorite
I got a Holton Farkas in 1972. Still works great. Me, not playing as well. :)
Chaya Shalom MY MAN
Francis Pau Thankyou. I was wondering what he was playing
I play the horn and I love this piece.
Man This guy trills with his tongue. Excellent. I love it.
Excellent! I'm usually not the biggest fan of brass, but I am blown away
I see what you did there.
+Jon Chapman I don't think it was a pun, but it worked out lol
Wow, I have been playing french horn for about 5 1/2 years now, and am going to audition for the Boise you philharmonic, and that is want i want my audition piece to be.

Exellent. Perfect. So clean.
so true. there are so many players that use the 103, but only Baborak has that velvety quality in his sound.

Oh... And restringing a French horn is a PAIN IN THE ASS!! 😂
My best Mozart horn concerto. What's interesting is his time changes so many times in multitude variety of way before it closes.
So pleasant and enjoyable thank you.
