I've had my machine and over locker for 33 years. And it's still going. I have made curtains, clothes for me and others, then my son's and now my granddaughter, toys and quilts. I am always sewing something. I know one day it will drop dead, but until then every time I go to sew and touch the machine, all my memories flash back in front of me reminding me of everything I've ever done on it. I never felt like it was too expensive as if you were a tradie you would have collected all your tools over the same time. And over the years I've bought the extra feet, and my machine is not just seen my hobbies made, but has seen a lot of memories and people's things I've ever made. My dear old machine has never deserted my, unlike some friends and indeed husband's, always treat your machines with love and respect, they will be there until the end.
I have just been gifted a secondhand 1230 Bernie, and I am over the moon, but alas, lost without a manual. Thank you for this video, and if you fancy doing some more videos about working this machine I'd be all over it! ;-)
My grandmother passed her 1989 Bernina to me, which I remember her sewing for years. I do have a question for anyone. I need to do hem stitch and I have foot 5. I'm told I need stitch 6, but stitch six doesn't not sew and catch the thread on the left, repeat. However, number 6 on mine machine doesn't do what I need. Any tips?
Hi ! I just got my grandmother's machine back. I have a problem when I start. It sews in the wrong direction, instead of forward it sews backwards, even though the reverse light is not on. Could you help me please ? Thanks. Camille
