Man the 4g was underrated I used to have a 2009 4g Eclipse now I own an Evo X but man the 4g was a great car it was great daily it has good power and it was very reliable not to mention in my opinion its looks was ahead of its time, would definitely buy another one if I got the chance.
As a 2g owner is sad how the Eclipse name fell from grace
As a 4g owner I will say that it really isn't a bad car I really Love it ! It's just a let down compared to what the 2g offered With the evo engine and AWD
Recession killed it, people forgot ab the eclipse, Mitsubishi couldn’t make enough money to make a new one.
I have the 4G eclipse and it’s really fun and has a ton of space for convenience. But as you said they’re really hard to modify and find parts for. And I think a lot of people don’t like the looks of them as much as the 2G
It's hard to beat that 2g eclipse! Plus the 4g lacked AWD and didn't come with a turbo 4cl on top of looking like a fatter 2g
I have a 2g talon tsi awd and a 4g gt 6 speed. I love both cars.

I like the 4g. I've owned a 2g, 3g, and 4g. The 3g was my favorite so I picked up another one. Why I like the 3g is the build quality is way better than the 2g, and you feel the stiffer chassis on the 3g. My 2g was a 1999 and the build quality was so so bad, door handles want to fall off, windows rattle, etc. 4g build quality is pretty good, the inside door pulls are the only cheap part of the build. Large car though. Also the weight of the top 3g is lighter than the top trim 2g, 3g GTS is 3,053 lb the 2g GSX is 3,210 lb. So with the 3g you're making the same power as the 2g, lighter than the 2g, and have a stiffer chassis.

I would own a 3g but it's gotta be the GTS model and I would have to keep my 4g

i managed to find a facelift 09 gt for only 5.5k, its a super fun car especially since its my first car, plus its only got around 110k miles and is still going strong. definitely there are better cars, but i still love it.
Damn that's pretty badass I think for that price range its actually one of better cars nowadays but I'm biased tho I own one lol
I own a facelift 6 speed GT and it’s really fun car to drive. I’m the only one with the 6 speed in my area and there are other 2 eclipses but they are the gs models tho.

I know I’m in the minority here but as far as looks go I think the 4g eclipse looks better than all the other eclipse, just such a shame that Mitsubishi decided to make it FWD and that the modding community didn’t take to it as well as previous models
The 4g is also my favorite but owning it probably makes me biased. Modding community is small but it's enough for anything I'd want

Cause statistically those other cars sold more than the 4g and the 4g went down hard in 2008 cause of the recession... every car did actually it was just the nail in the coffin for the eclipse
