    Wow.. Extremely well put together video for just a single small creator. No ads, no unnecessary small talk or stories, just good, informative commentary with background footage. I dont usually like long videos but I ended up watching most of it. I wish all car reviews were like this.

    I use to own 2009 Eclipse Gs as well, very nice car and also very reliable never had any issues, sadly it was totaled in 2016 when someone hit me at a street intersection after that I brought a Mitsubishi Lancer GT and I love it but still miss the Eclipse sometimes.

  • @thecontainmentunit2610

    I just bought a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. This video describes everything to a teeth. Fantastically awesome, my man!!!!!

    • @normcoremotors
      @normcoremotors  Před 3 lety

      The car as a whole is great. The only things I'm not crazy about: 1) The turn radius is really wide, 2) (and this is a gripe with most modern cars) rear visibility. The c-pillars are huge! Plus, people just seem to love to walk right into those blind spots in parking lots. Other than that, I loved my Eclipse!

    Hello! Congrats on your first review! I own a 2007 GS with a
    M/T. Very reliable car. Always be on top of maintenance and dont neglect your timing belt service.

    • @normcoremotors
      @normcoremotors  Před 4 lety

      Thank you so much! I love these things, and, if I can get my hands on one, I'd eventually like to get a 2012 SE model with the 6g75, but I'm very happy with mine. I'm paranoid about maintenance, so I'm prepping for the timing belt, which will be in about 3-4000 miles. Not playing with an interference engine! LOL!

      @@normcoremotors If you are attempting to get a GT because of power then you are heading the wrong way. The GS has more after market support. Your GS can do GT numbers with force induction on stock internals and be more light than a GT. If you're looking to mod your GS head to Club4G if you havent already. There you will find plenty of routes to help you gain HP.

      @UCq8h8pMXsMluMlyhRJ5_pOQ I'll troll abit. Air filter? Lol! Just kidding. Belts, pulleys, oil and plugs. I been beating my GS for a long while and never had to change my coil packs but that is fine. Im not sure what to do with your auto trans but i changed my trans oil and used Redline M/T. Maybe you can change your valve cover gasket as well and you'll be good. Clean the throttle body. Plan to do any mods?

    I just picked one up today. 110k for $5k, one owner. Feel like I got a great deal. I'm just worried about the timing belt. Service interval last I looked was 65k miles. I figure I'[[ just replace the water pump for good measure. I mean, it makes sense monetarily speaking.
    I agree, cabin noise is suck if that bothers you. And in my pothole region, I would definitely prefer an upgraded suspension.
    I know it's a 3 yr old video, but thanks for the intel.

    • @normcoremotors
      @normcoremotors  Před rokem +1

      Actually you got a great deal on that, given today's market. I'm in the process of getting another one, and the best 1 that I could find was a 2011 Eclipse GS Sport with 90000 miles, fully loaded 4 cylinder for $8000. I actually am gonna be putting up a video as an update explaining what's going to happen to Thunderchicken and why I'm looking at another Eclipse. Thanks for checking out the video! 😊

    Hey Normcore! I'm Eye Guy from TheAnimatedEye channel (take a guess who this is lol). Congrats on your foray into CZcams! As you know, I'm still trying to get my stuff up and running, but it's great to see you got all of this started. Now if only I can get that last piece of equipment from Amazon! But seriously, great job with the video! Not much of a cars guy usually, but I'll throw my two cents in. From my experience (you know when), the Eclipse is perfect for someone looking for a good amount of speed and power, but perhaps not for those who aren't confident in their ability to handle it. Anyway, great job on the video and good luck!

    • @normcoremotors
      @normcoremotors  Před rokem +1

      Personally I use Progressive because that's the cheapest one that I've had over the years, but the best thing to do is to try to see if you can get a quote from multiple different companies and see which one fits you best. For me in New Jersey I just put state minimum on my insurance on my cars because of their age, and therefore I wind up using progressive because it's cheapest

    Im currentyl planning in buying this car around september or october this year (when i'll have the cash for it) but there are so many options and i dont wanna screw it because this is my very first car. Im 6'3 tall, so thank you for saying how tall you are and how well you fit in. The thing is, is 8k USD a good deal for a 2012 GT with 100k miles in it? Also, is it possible to lift it up with a suspension kit? i live in a very bump-filled town, i dont wanna scratch the lower part of the car as my dad did with this Nissan Tsuru '92

    • @normcoremotors
      @normcoremotors  Před rokem +1

      Well, I'm 6'1" and fit in one no problem, so that shouldn't be an issue. A 2012 GT is pretty hard to find these days. Most are GS's. 8k for that isn't bad, but remember to do the water pump and timing belt, or it'llbe DOA. As for the suspension, there is a huge suspension aftermarket for this generation, so I would just look around o line, also check out Club4G (4G Eclipse forum). That'll help out a lot. Good luck! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! 😊

    • @normcoremotors
      @normcoremotors  Před 4 lety +1

      I would check the battery before doing any kind of diagnostic. This way you eliminate the simple one before you spend a wad of money on equipment or replacements. If the battery doesn't fix the issue, then I would say to have the starter looked at. An OBD II scan might shed some light on the problem, but there's no guarantee of that. Check the battery first though before you do anything else. Hope this helps!

    • @normcoremotors
      @normcoremotors  Před 4 lety

      @@nahidhjaffar1400 , it sounds like a shift sensor malfunction, which could put the car in gear, preventing it from starting, as it would need to be in park/neutral. You should definitely take it to your regular mechanic immediately.

      @normcoremotors  Před 3 lety

      I totally agree. They should've never called it the eclipse cross. They're pandering to the SUV market, which is huge right now, but that doesn't mean you sacrifice your best nameplates for a quick sale. As for me, I'm switching to an 02 Cougar because it has less miles and a full restoration, but I loved my eclipse.

    • @normcoremotors
      @normcoremotors  Před 3 lety

      Well, unfortunately, I'm planning on getting rid of my eclipse, due to money and practicality. I'm currently going to replace it with my 2002 Mercury Cougar C2 which has 1/2 of the mileage and a full mechanical restoration. That's probably going to go too, so I can get a 1992 Cutlass Supreme Coupe for $1200 and this way I can potentially make $8000 in total profit. We'll see.
