Halo Reach. My favorite game of the series with one of the most unique soundtracks. This track titled "Swift, Strong, Brave" counts as the Reach main theme but it's often also referred to as the "Overture" in a extended version that works in the ending theme "Ghosts and Glass". I'll cover that track separately.

Gotta say my man noble 6 honestly
Jorge. Every time
I'd love for you to do a full on Halo 3 OST piano cover.
Halo 3 has some beautiful songs that i dont think i've heard be tackled on piano
"It didn't take long for Reach to fall, our enemy was ruthless, efficient. But they weren't nearly fast enough. For you had already passed the torch. Thanks to you we found Halo, unlocked its secrets, shattered our enemy's resolve. Our victory - *your* victory, was so close, I wish you could have lived to see it. But you belong to Reach. Your body, your armor - all burnt and turned to glass. Everything, except your courage. That you gave to us. And with it, we can rebuild."
C'mon man, no spoilers!
damn i wish i could like this but its at 69 likes
Well....guess I'm crying now.
Oh, man. What an experience.
Remember Reach
@@rango_gt Dude I know! Itâs been eleven years and I still havenât beat Halo Reach! Game spoiled. Wow.
Something I noticed in Halo Reach music is that the armony, melody and rythm is pretty much eastern european/western asiatic, which is perfect because Reach is mainly inhabited by Hungarians
I love the cold energy of this kind of music. The closest I can relate it to is Mahler, but I know he's not Hungarian. What eastern european western asiatic music is there thats more similar
It has that vibe somewhat, but this music is insanely western. Funny thing is it's very typical for a westerner to think something a little different sounding is a whole different culture lmao
@@PeterGriffin-kb2hf hello Beter
Wait the spoken language was Hungarian? That's really cool
Yes, for this reason Marty used E Phrygian scale rather than the classic E Dorian from the Trilogy due to the different vibe that Reach presents from a story perspective.
This track feels like Halo, but just so difference in a way that makes you feel that are a super soldier, but soldiers don't always succeed. Halo Reach did a great job with that and the soundtrack went along greatly
yeah and now they just crap all over that and theres like a million spartans in the new games... yawn
@@onetwothreefourfive12345 Yes because the last surviving member of Noble team started recruiting people. And the new generation of Spartans aren't kidnapped kids who rarely survive augmentation. They're adult soldiers that volunteered, so naturally there are a lot more of them. Not trying to talk your ear off, just trying to give some insight lol.
@@davidhocker2677 Didn't most SIII candidates survive augmentations?
@@matthewrodenhouse6256 I believe so
@@matthewrodenhouse6256 Pretty sure, then again Spartan 3s were expendable.
"That lone wolf stuff? It stays behind. Got it?"
actually he says 'clear?' then noble six replies with 'got it sir.'
Until *Objective: Survive*
@@theoriginalemim At that point, all he was doing was giving the covenant the middle finger
Got it sir
I was gonna say in the end noble six died alone, just like many of the headhunters before him.
i really like the more grounded and "desperate" tone in reach music and general vibe while the original trilogy feels more like a fantasy tale with misteryous tones and wonder.
cool cover!
Reach is ultimately a gorgeous tragedy, nothing you do, no matter how amazing or impactful will stop the inevitable. During the entire campaign you know that you are on the road to ruin, and Bungie's decision to kill nearly everyone you had come to know during this story is a stroke of genius.
@@Keemperor40K it was nice to see this side of halo, like those who read the books for reach knew that it wouldnt be a happy ending story. But it was still a great story to be told regardless.
halo usually didn't fail in the music department.
Reach music feels more like a war for humanity than any other halo music did IMO.
jun was like nah fam rookies
I grew up playing Reach.. playing it probably way too much. This puts a hell of a smile on my face, it's wonderful
Same bro, same.
I started with the 360, so reach was my first halo. It was a gateway to the rest of the series. Still a halo fan today.
You and me both. I made it one hell of a point to go back and play it on my 360 in the years leading up to the 360âs servers shutting down. I miss it, I really do. It feels like the last time I was truly happy was back in those custom game lobbies with me and some online friends.
There is never too much of halo.
God, these halo piano covers make me tear up, real talk
fr man, the memories ;-;
Honestly I'm glad I grew up to have Reach as my first Halo game. Such a grim, dark game meant to teach the human toll and despair of war.
I'm glad it was your first.
Because it IS the first.
@@snowoffstream5823 Halo Wars.
@@SolusDarkcoat I don't count the pac versions tbh. I know they add a bit of depth, but in the terms of boots on the ground type fps, reach is intended as first.
Not saying you're wrong. You're right, but also, it's kinda meh imo. They weren't too enjoyable so I didn't really remember them...
"Spartans never die, they're just missing in action."
That was the description of Lone Wolf, the last mission of Reach
@@alphahuner1116 Actually it was a directive as this states. ONI Directive 930 is a United Nations Space Command regulation regarding the reporting of SPARTAN-II fatalities. It created a tradition which eventually extended to the SPARTAN-IIIs as well. However, the protocol is no longer applied to Spartans, the UNSC opting to honor their sacrifices accordingly rather than maintaining an aura of invincibility for propaganda purposes.
@@quicksilver2140 Still
Nah, they just Respawn.
"Except for noble 6 he's dead as fuck"
Marty did a great job encompassing the feeling of doom in Reach's music. Songs in most other games give a feeling of hope, that the underdogs, humans, will overcome. While in Reach, they were being run to defeat, and the music really helps achieve that atmosphere.
What I like most enjoy about this song is the almost funerary nature of it--of imagining soldiers knowing they are going to their death but doing so as fiercely and bravely as they can. It's both haunting and hopeful at the same time. This is and has been one of my personal favorite songs I have ever heard for science fiction.
I have been falling asleep with this main menu for over 7 years almost EVERY DAY on my large TV.
Upon hearing this, I naturally started to sing along with every tune and my mom walked by saying she hadn't heard this in a long long time.
I was shocked she even remembered, all she did was walk by my room sometimes.
Awesome
Wow this brings back some memories....
It hasnât even premiered yet
@@Noothing5461 just seeing halo reach I mean
I commented on your Halo 3 ODST cover requesting for more Halo pieces. You've just gained a subscriber!! đ I had constant chills throughout the video. Been a Halo fan since the first game came out. Cant wait for more pieces from you!!
Thanks! There will certainly be more Halo music in the near future :D
What Bungie did that newer Halo games do not have is that sense of absolute tragedy, that Reach epitomizes and that this song encompasses so perfectly.
The reason why Reach is for me the best story of all Halo games is that it is ultimately a story of loss, great loss. Your character a super human Spartan, created to save Humanity in its darkest hour can only delay the inevitable, but not stop it.
In the end, despite your super-human efforts, Reach is burned to the ground and you are there to see the death throes of a planet, despite the incredible sacrifice and bravery of Humanity.
And this song with it's somber tone perfectly sets up that expectation of ultimate loss that is the cornerstone of this magnificent tragedy.
damn this comment is almost as long as your full name
What do you mean the newer halo games have tragedy as an example the entirety of halo 5 was a tragedy
@@danielliebergall856 lmao
Read Halsey's eulogy at the end. Even though Reach became a losing battle, it was like the Alamo was to Texas (Coming from a native Texan). The Alamo was a base that also functioned as a church, where Texan rebels were put to the sword against Santa Anna's nearly infinite waves of Mexican soldiers. I like to think Reach was softly inspired by the Alamo.
If you pressed X to doubt, I recommend wandering the streets of New Mombasa and tell me if you see "Remember Reach", or a character refer to Reach
@@danielliebergall856 the difference though is that reach was a good campaign
Reach was the first halo game I played, since i didnt own an xbox until I was 13. And let me say, I'm so glad i got introduced to halo through Reach. It helped me understand Halo's storyline so much better than if I went in numerical order
Jorge: spent most of his life on reach, died the only time he left
Emile: fueled by anger, his recklessness got him killed
Carter: trying to keep the group together: died at their breaking point
Noble 6: lone wolf most of his life: died alone on reach
there there's Jun who said no U and Cat who got murked by a halo 2 sniper jackal across time and space
I think Kat the techie got killed by a shield malfunction, so we can add that to the list
Kat: Brainy and got brained by a sniper. Also wasnât smart enough to turn on her shield.
@@anonylemon9823 shields had overloaded due to a massive radiation spike just prior
Kats death was the most relatable, not just because it was realistic, but also because we had all died the exact same way. By a jackal sniper from across the map
Jorge: Heavy weapons and demolitions expert, goes out in a boom. Emile: CQC specialist, gets stabbed. Kat: Brains of the group, gets brained. Carter: The captain goes down with his ship (Pelican). Jun: The stealth expert, fucking disappears. Noble 6: Lone wolf dies alone.
One of my favs by far next to ODST so I canât wait to hear it!
I think the Halo community can all agree that ODST and Reach were really good.
This was good to the extent that Katâs driving is bad. Good stuff man.
When you realize the covenant sent the best they had at 6 when they couldâve just glassed him and saved their men. Shows they really wanted to finish the job and make sure no spartan survived
The part at 2:00 always gives me goosebumps. More of this please!
"Kat, you read his file?"
"Only the parts that weren't covered in black ink"
1:12 I just saw my entire childhood flash before my eyes this was beautiful thank you!
âListen, Reach has been good to me. Time has come to return the favor. Donât deny me this.â
âTell âem to make it count.â
Halo reach has such a unique soundtrack, equally as impressive as any other entry from the halo franchise
It's my favourite personally. Reach in general is my favourite Halo game, I like it a lot.
My favorite part is at 1:03, anyways, great job!
Oh I loved this game!!!
I replayed it not too long ago whilst playing it through the MCC, loved every second of it.
The story, while not having the good guys win, but a somber ending. I cannot put to words by how brilliant this game is!!
Nerding out aside, brilliant arrangement and kudos from one pianist to another. Iâve watched a bit of your videos a while ago, that being your Skyrim theme cover video, which was absolutely fantastic!
I wish I could be here for it, I have to go to sleep for work. :( I bet it's lovely and brings us back to a time before all this.
Never Forget from Halo 3 is the most emotional piece of gaming music ever and I will not be corrected! Please do that one next.
cough cough *difference for darkness* cough *ashes* cough cough cough *the package* cough cough *one finale effort* cough cough *the drums in the halo reach opening scene*
@@JoeMama-rv9wl Ye but Never Forget always makes me cry
Heavy Price Paid from Halo 2 though, must not forget that one
90% of the original trilogy music is absolute bangers. You can't really choose one piece without doing injustice to the others.
The best thing about Halo music? Everyone has a favorite track, and everyone is right about it. Not many pieces of art can claim that, most have standout pieces, but Halo has it all.
Yessir! Loved it. Every bit of it, I'm probably going to try and learn this one too. Can you do Heavy price paid from Halo 2 for your next Halo piano vid? Would greatly appreciate it!!!đŻâ€ïž
Your halo covers are absolute fire. The ODST another rain/darkness almost brought me to tears. And this one is unbelievable as well. Good job and thanks!
I think reach will always be my favorite halo. It's the only one that truly captures the overwhelming sense of dread humanity felt facing the covenant. It gave you hope before snatching it away in ways that made sense and didn't feel forced. A great story of tragedy and loss and defeat that still ended up with you flinging a light into the future that saved humanity. A future you, the player character would never live to see. Kinda like if, "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" and "Charge of the Light Brigade" were made into a video game.
Im so glad someone did this. Reach soundtrack is amazing.
Chills just like the first time I heard it
This music is one of the only soundtracks that both warms my heart and saddens it at the same time. Truly masterful work.
I needed that so much
The thing I love about the overture is just how much desperation it evokes. It always comes up in game when shit gets VERY real.
Just recently wrote this for full Concert Band! I hope you had as much fun working on arranging this piece that I did on that one.
I swear, you have by far the best "visuals" of any piano channel out there, I mean LOOK AT THAT 4K SHARPNESS AHHGGGG. Also the costumes you often put on, it really is so sick. Love your piano style too, its so good just like this song. Thanks to you I got into piano, you truely are an insparation, thank you!
This puts a smile on my face
If I were to ever run a Halo DND campaign this would be a song I would play right as it was starting and I was explaining everything to them, the setting, where they are, who the main enemies are, etc etc
Oh my, you have a cover for almost all game I played, I love you
This has got to be my favorite video on CZcams. I just keep rewatching it.

The chords used in this piece are god-like craftsmanship.

Hey in sticking with the Bungie thing, you should do the Destiny 1 and 2 songs, some of them are absolutely insane
Love Reach's theme and you played it so well on the piano that I did not even like but I also put it in favorites
Ahhhh, the music of my childhood.
This is definitely probably my favorite halo theme.

Awesome
This is so well done, very enjoyable to listen to :)

REMEMBER REACH
Halo reach will always be my favourite, not just because it was the first halo that I really sunk hours and hours into and it coming out at a time which was the most memorable for me, but now that I'm older has my favourite story. The genre of fighting a battle the observer and sometimes that characters know they will lose and still giving it their all is just something so indescribable. This and Rogue One have similar vibes
Itâs been 30 seconds and iâm already sold on the idea of a halo reach piano album
