Halo Reach. My favorite game of the series with one of the most unique soundtracks. "Ashes" is such a strangely beautiful but fitting piece that plays during the most understated death of the series. Sometimes it's just your time.

The sheer surprise when Kat's death happened and then this soundtrack played... It turned from coming up with a plan to burn down Sword Base to getting Kat's body and the rest of Noble Team to safety. It was such a change in atmosphere in a matter of seconds
That's the whole point of the game, it's not about the characters it's about reach and how doomed they were. No matter what they did the covenant had an answer, like when the long night of solace was destroyed, there was hope but then a covenant fleet arrived. Same the mission before when you destroy the spire but then the covenant destroys the unsc ship. Its my favourite campaign.
Reach is doomed to fall cause master chief was not present. It's prob one of the best halo story apart from 123odst 4 was ok but 5 n onwards not really but am hyped for infinite

Reach is still the golden standard of quality and quantity of content in a game, has an exemplary story for what it is (as in not an RPG), and incredible gameplay. It may not be my first Halo, but it is by far my favorite.

You're not alone
Having replayed the game recently I was struck by the deep sense of dread and somberness that permeates throughout the game. I've probably played the game well over a dozen times but it is still there. Once Jorge dies it is constant, that feeling that soon everything I see and touch in the game will be dead and burned to glass. The mood of the music and the game becomes muted and sad, contrasted with the bombast that is typically found in the Halo games. I just felt so sad that Noble 6 didn't go on that Pelican. If one thing had gone different. But no. They're there, on Reach, surrounded by the bodies of a thousand other of their brothers and sisters.
Not getting on that pelican saved the universe. If 6 didnât take the Mac Cannon and fire on that covenant cruiser the Pillar of Autumn never wouldâve made it off Reach and thus both Chief and Cortana never wouldâve made it to Halo.
Noble teamâs efforts paved the way for the future.
What Tailon says is true, without Noble Six's decision to stay with Reach, Humanity would never have discovered Halo, broken the enemies' resolve and win the war.
In terms of story telling Reach is when Bungie was at their absolute prime. I'm not sure we'll every again get a story so heart wrenching and impactful, especially with the other 4 games worth of lore that backed it all up.
@@nawdawg4300 it really was their prime. But honestly, I wish it didnât go down the way it did because I replayed it recently and Iâm much older than I was my first play through, and I now notice all that really happened. Itâs so heroic and melancholy and it feels like they deserved way more than what they received. RIP Noble team. True Spartans.
â@@talion4033 I beat each Halo (up to Reach) a dozen times when I was a kid. but I never grasped the emotions of the game and then when I played it again after years, it was like playing a whole new game even though I knew all the gameplay

I remember playing reach (first halo game I ever played) thinking im gonna be such a bad ass soon and then KAT goes down, never had I been so shocked at a game before
I never thought a Halo game would show a semi-unavoidable instant death like that. It brought up the mortality of Spartans and how even supersoldiers can't prevent all bad things from happening, even 6 of them.

I forgot just how great so many of Halo's songs work even without the context of the scenes they are paired with (and how powerful they can be when they are paired up).

Halo Reach the opposite of most games, the heroes lose and don't save the day. This game just showed how not everyone get to make the sacrafice and you win or how not all soldiers die in the heat of combat. It beautiful and sad at the same time
Halo Reach has to be the very first Halo Game I've ever played myself (I don't count Halo 3 on multiplayer because that was at like a friend's house when I was 7)
And I still come back to it now and it always hits me
Ironic how all of Noble team dies,
Carter-A259 - Noble 1 - Captain: Died leading his team to victory, going down with his ship (a pelican) like a Naval Ship Captain would go down with his.
Catherine-B320 - Noble 2 - Engineer: Died due to technical malfunctions with shielding, Shielding failed to block Needler Shot to back of the head.
Jun-A266 - Noble 3 - Sniper: Contradictory for him to be on his list considering he lived, but not surprising because he is a sniper, staying behind the frontlines.
Emile-A239 - Noble 4 - CQB: Died in Close range combat due to fatal stab wounds due to an energy sword
Jorge-052 - Noble 5 - Heavy Weapons Specialist: Died due to heavy weapon malfunctions and required a manual detention to be preformed
Spartan-B312 - Noble 6 - Lone Wolf: Stayed behind on reach when given the attempt to EVAC. Died fighting alone as a last stand to kill as many enemies as possible.

This is my favorite song from halo. It has this striking impression of being cold and lost, almost as if to say "but where will I go now?" And then it opens up with the warm strings, which despite the beauty of their intersecting melodies are not reassuring. Perhaps to look back at what was once beautiful, with agonizing longing

Beautiful đ This was one of the first few pieces I learned. I love how you added your own style of different keys from the original, especially at the end. Kind of reminded me of Chopin's pieces. Cant wait for One Final Effort, actually had it in my mind but decided to go with the slower ones first. Saw some other comments saying Heavy Price Paid too, PLEASE do that one! This moment in the game hits me. I always know it's looking down as soon as we destroy the spire and the frigate gets shot down. And then Jorge's death I could only look in defeat as I saw all those ships.
It only got worse as I saw all those bodies in New Alexandria. That mission honestly made me feel nothing but despair that many died.
And right as I catch a break, Kat goes down. And it keeps going. By the time I got to "Lone Wolf" I didn't even cry or anything. I was just.... There. All I could do was look at the screen emotionless and once "Objective: Survive" came up. I said "Guess it's finally my turn." And went to it.

I really wanna see Jun on Post-War Reach, finding the last glassed remnants of his team. Maybe even Blue Team visiting the _Objective: Survive_ location where Six and over a dozen other Spartans fought and died.
He actually quit being a Spartan and trained future Spartans on a space station i forget the name of. They show the space station in halo infinite, so i won't be spoiling what happens to it if you haven't played the game yet

I think about this theme every time i see an orange purple sunset on the horizon. it gives me flashbacks of every mission from halo reach where we've seen such sunsets and the despair when we realised that the war is lost. "The Package" "The Pillar of Autumn" "Lone Wolf"

I don't play video games anymore but Reach really gave me respect for the franchise. I hope they talk about it in the TV show which i am excited for. Yes, i cried at the end of the campaign.

I almost can't believe there's this amount of heart coming from a AAA soundtrack. If you rearranged it with video game sound fonts it'd sound like an Undertale track.
the depth this song has. you're on the wrong end of the war in every bungie halo but this track and the cutscene where you come out the building to a glassed city really shows just how powerful the right music can be
