    I am most captivated by the abstract. Art, for me, is an expression. No matter what type of art you are doing, whether it be painting, sculpture, drawing, music, it must evoke some emotion. To me, a photorealistic piece of art is impressive, as it takes talent, yet, it evokes no emotion in me what so ever. The abstract makes me feel, and makes me think, explore, ponder. To me, that is what art is all about.

    I'm a painter and personally enjoy the painterly style. Realism is amazing though shocked by the amount of time and patience some folks have. I know personally I don't have that. Art is my release from my day job.
    Dude that music was sweet!

      Thank you Stephanie! I agree, realism takes a lot of time. It would be difficult for me to only work on 1 piece per month, or something like that. Thanks for sharing!

    Absolutely love your videos. Just awesome. Love both your artistic style and calming demeanor. Like you, I too am both an abstract artist and also musician. Your guitar riff took me back to my Metallica days. 😀 also, much thx on your advise on seeing my drawings through to completion. I sometimes feel the urge to start a new drawing the moment I don’t like my current one.

    You’re right I like the painterly ones better than the realistic one just like I like your doodle better than realistic drawing. They’re more creative and unique, and inspires me more. Maybe it’s because it makes us use our imagination or maybe because our mind is bored with seeing things realistically and seeing something we’ve never seen before is exciting. Looking forward to seeing more of your drawings and music

      @@IllustrationsByPete Yeah, I'm gonna do painting, drawing, alcohol ink, and maybe art lessons geared for the homeschool teacher. That might be too much for one channel.

      Wow, that sounds like a lot of info. Try it all, you never know what topics will really start up an audience. I hope it goes well for you. I think the most important thing is to be patient and don't give up even when you aren't getting the views.

    Yo I just came across this video and it’s so dope I am so happy to see someone creating art like this on the internet. I do a lot of automatic drawing too (my most recent video is my first recorded speed art for automatic abstract drawing).

    That music was a VIBE and I would absolutely listen to a playlist of similar music while drawing! I have absolute respect for artists who can pull of realism, that's a skill that takes so much effort and practice to master, but for me if it looks like something a camera could do I'm not overly interested. I don't mind those "do this not that" tutorials though because I tend to pick up tips that I wouldn't mind using in my own art, especially portraiture. There's that saying that is something like you have to know how to draw something correctly before you can stylize it. I definitely prefer the more painterly look to everything though!

      Hi Becky! Thank you for your input. The music I write now has a little more of a rock feel to it but similar in style. I'm glad you enjoyed it. People who do realism definitely have my respect. I know how much they need to develop their skill to pull it off successfully. As far as enjoying it, I don't mind realism if I can tell it's still a painting or drawing. That's what I used to try and do until I loosened up a little. I agree, it's better to learn form and progress to formlessness. Have a great day!

      good perspective, I tend to agree that there's a lot to learn from broadening our skill level and shooting for accuracy, but I enjoy a style more than the photorealism flex as well (although its a flex that genuinely impresses me). lmao, I also enjoy the 'Napoleon dynamite phase" when an artist is trying to expand their understanding of the way a subject is constructed despite an understanding of technique, so they draw it a bit goofy but with realistic textures.

    • @IllustrationsByPete
      @IllustrationsByPete  Před 2 lety +1

      That's interesting. I enjoy the different phases of learning a new subject also. I find most artists are looking for the end result without appreciating the process. I don't know if they feel inadequate until they can do it well or they just want to have a sense of accomplishment after they figure it out. Fear of judgement vs dopamine brain dump reward. Either way, the most exciting part of art to me is the learning process.

    I would enjoy watching you draw more of this type of art with your music as a background track, good experiment, way to be transparent. I also like to make music and draw, I need to post more. Be confident in yourself, you are making good content!
