Harry didn’t invent auto journalism with EVO, but did some things differently and moved the art forward. He’s quietly doing the same thing with automotive content on CZcams now.
I remember seeing my first vid with Harry in an old EVO Diaries and was immediatly addicted. This guy just pays attention to the same characteristics and details in cars like I do. Thats why his opinion is so valuable to me.
In 1 or 2 years this channel will hit the 1 Mio subscribers for sure. All the best!
For me personally it's the fact that him being a proper enthusiast shines through in the content and I don't feel like I'm being advertised to every five minutes.
I like how Harry uses his cars-that miles are an indicator of enjoying them. In particular, it’s a breath of fresh air to see Harry using them for long adventures, as I do, versus a continual concern about putting miles on them. For me, long adventures and regular use are how you bond with a car, and is what makes the whole investment in them worthwhile.
He talks about them as if they are old friends, or family. I love that. 💗
Auto journalism isn`t art, it`s more of a science tbh, presenting isn`t art, it`s personality + technique..
Art:
"the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
creative activity resulting in the production of paintings, drawings, or sculpture.
the various branches of creative activity, such as painting, music, literature, and dance."
I love the guy, I watch all his stuff, but journalism is the fkn opposite of art..
"I don't deserve this car"...I literally laughed out loud because ALL of these cars deserve Harry and if they could talk would thank him every time they're fired up and driven🏁🏁
You beat me to it! In full agreement. Harry deserves everything he's worked for.
@@autobahnproven you both beat me to it!
All three of you beat me to it!
I calculated my cost of motoring for the year, living in Thailand and riding a scooter everywhere, came in at 88 pounds
Cheap mileage!
I calculated my cost of running an electric scooter for a year, in China, and it was 5 pounds. Purely cause charging is free, but I had to get a new tube 😂😂😂
@@terrencefu4473 Excellent 🙏
But I expect in contrast your Nong Nong milking table charges would be a lot more than in the UK.....
@Christo Genea I charge it for free within my community, and electricity is cheap in China. So perhaps not 100% free but I pay so little!
Harry doing Christmas shopping in his Lamborghini Espada seems so natural.
lol, i know its mad, but fab ..
Whilst wearing a GMT master!
It has a big trunk, super practical
Don’t forget the milk
“Ahh, bugger. I forgot the milk. Got to drive again”.
Love the transparency here and on Harry's Farm... really useful to know the reality vs. the flash of the other channels - thank you
Yea, that's kinda what l meant to type.
yes indeed.
Quite agree, I find something very unsettling about how the other flashy ‘aspirational’ channels operate.
Yes I agree with all the other, Harry puts it out all in front. Like I got a few bob, I spend it on things that give me pleasure and I like to share the experience with you all. Good on you H.
@@we-can-do Agreed, he’s genuinely willing to share his experience. The flashy channels really feel like they have something to hide which would spoil the illusion!
Very grateful for Harry's videos, keeping us sane in a strange 2020!
Wow... Harry's love for cars, bikes, his farm and family shine through on every video. Not only that, you could feel the passion in his journalism too! In my dream dinner party post Covid, Harry Metcalfe gets a place at the table!
Doesn't seem like anybody asked for it, so I will - would love to see a wider review on that CBX 1000. It's such a unique machine and there's not many videos about it on the Internet.
More bike content in general if possible would be appreciated. The Guzzi and the Africa Twin seem really interesting.
Please give us a review of the CBX or even better how about a European road trip Harry?
I'm not a motorcycle fan normally but that's a fantastic beast and it deserves its own vid.
Not THAT unique (Benelli Sei, Kawasaki Z1300, BMW K1600)
Agreed, I had one of these many years ago (same colour) and loved it. Sadly, family came along so it had to go - now they're hugely collectable and fetching silly money :-(
Thank goodness your channel has grown so much, as I don't know how I'd survive without Harry and his genuine look on things
Thanks for all the hours of entertainment here this year, and long may it continue!
I love this channel . A genuine down to earth car enthusiast. Well done harry
We’re grateful as well, Harry. You’re generous, experienced and eclectic. There is much to enjoy and learn in your company. Thank you
The Rolls is "a bit tatty under the water line". Love how Harry describes things.
Yes !
I also love the equal amount of enthusiasm, somewhat shabby Rolls Royce mint Lamborghini, or just a little Fiat 500.
A bunch of us are here for that car, Harry!
“Aces”
It's the "going to pub" car :)
Yeah, I was thinking "water line"? Is that like it's maximum "wading depth" as measure in four wheel drive vehicles?
Brilliant.
Such a professional-sounding, modest, insightful and enjoyable presentation.
It's also a very pleasant change to hear English spoken properly.
12:16 seeing the Countach next to a 911, makes me realize how tiny a Countach actually is!
Looks like a toy car. Makes the Porsche look clumsy
Well, it's an alien car and they say all ETs are on the small size. Fits the bill. 🤣🤣🤣
Your Rolls-Royce taken to the artic = "artic-Rolls" You should get a Alfa Giulietta and take it to vienna. Then you can have a "Vienetta". Ba-dum-tss.
Well done on 400K subs. Looking forward to the Lancia rebuild.
Happy New Year Harry, thanks for all the videos this year and here's to many more in 2021!
During 2020 ive watched less tv and more youtube, and with channels like this why not....keep up the good work harry 👍cheers
What's a tv?
Main broadcast cast tv is dead, you tube is the future
Thank you for all the entertainment during this strange year. Happy new year for you and your family. Greetings from Brazil.
I think you have kept most of us petrolheads sane this year, well done and happy new year
Genuinely sounds a bargain. And when you consider that the entire collection has probably appreciated far more than that on balance...... the collection is paying for itself! ;)
+ youtube income!
czcams.com/video/wKNLUt6YDxc/video.html
Man maths multiplied by CZcams income! Sounds like the perfect time to build a second shed...
On that subject, I find it perplexing that the classic car market hasn't yet shown much sign of deflating, given the mad, gloom laden scenario we have at present.
who would buy that shit though
The “blue” Jaguar is my favorite car in your garage. Personally, I would not change the exterior. It’s perfect ! 💙💙💙
Yes I personally love the Squadron Blue (and the wheels !) but at least it will get airtime now and the colour should be the last thing to go !
Obviously to each his own, but .... I have 13 cars and trucks and the 7 I got new (1978 Thunderbird to 2020 Outback) are white plus one I bought used as well. "Life is too short to drive cars that aren't white"! So my vote is to paint it white!
I think Harry should do a vote on the Jag color, just for fun.
Personally, I would go for a subtle silver blue metallic:
fahrzeuge.dorotheum.com/fileadmin/lot-images/57C171021/hires/1966-mercedes-benz-250-se-coupe-446029.jpg
This way it would at least keep its color by name ;-)
and PLEASE, don't install fender flares ... this car is already gorgeous, it just cannot get gorgeous-ser ...
Everything about Harry’s garage taps into the emotion of cars and classic car ownership, the transparency, honesty, enthusiasm and unbiased content just make the channel a wonderful thing to watch.
That little Lancia is just a jewell of a thing, engine rebuild, a little fettling road trip, brilliant. XJC rebuild, so many people do these cars, agree that the colour is horrid, can’t wait to see Harry’s take on it.The RR deserves some love simply for delivering pleasure to all those who watched the North Pole trip. If this goes the same way as the Espada I’ll have a few more You Tube channels to watch in 2022!
That sound! 😍
Best way to start a vid!
Quite the way to end it too!
The Jag V12 up the road too ;)
Started with an advert for me 😀
"voluptuous"
Fancy seeing you here Art happy holidays!
Thanks for keeping up the output this year with great content, helped keep me sane through all the drama and endless Zoom meetings.
Surely this is one of the best automotive channels on CZcams? I've never found any of Harry's videos too long, always ready to watch more. Good luck in 2021 Harry, keep them coming.
Really excited about the Lancia work coming up. It's one of my favorites of your collection. Thanks for all you and your family do. Best of luck to you all in 2021.
A super collection but that Lancia steals my heart, beautiful.
Love seeing Harry’s vids. Looking forward to more in 2021.
Love you Harry! Greetings and best wishes from the US. Glad to see the XJ coupe getting the extra love it deserves.
love it where you seem to remember every mile you drove with your cars!
Great year Harry 👏🏻, the auction videos for me stand out f, I find them fascinating . The Lamborghini rebuilt also excellent at tyrrells 👍🏻👏🏻👌🏻
By far the best channel on CZcams, thank you🙏
I love Harry's passion and a personal attachment to his vehicles. They all tell a story. He is also a superb speaker, clear, concise and supremely erudite. He has that calm understated manner similar to Steve Sutcliffe (another motoring God). More please :)
Love everything Harry does, but on the car side I most especially love this kind of video exploring his collection.
Absolutely delighted that the dear old Arctic Rolls gets to stay and will be shown some love. I feared it might one day get the chop for just being a bit crappy, but should have had more faith in the big H. It's not its make and model that matters - it's what he's done with THAT car that makes it more than just the sum of its parts. It's THAT car that makes Harry - and us - smile whenever we see it, bugger whether it's possible to buy a better example of the same model, that car is part of the family and deserves to be preserved.
Really looking forward to all the project videos to come on the Rolls, Jag, Lancia and Fiat - rays of sunshine in a tediously grey and covidy sky. Bravo Harry, and thank you.
Loved all the videos this year Harry! Especially the Bond trips! Looking forward to more next year! 👍🏻
Wow, thanks Harry and Happy New Year, I hope to enjoy the coming activities on Harry's Garage!
In our 1980's childhoods, my sister had posters of the Lamborghini Countach and I had posters of the Testarossa. We shared a bedroom and I still think the Testarossa is the best!!
Harry’s Garage is one of my favorite TV shows. It is better than reality tv - it is SURreality TV; the stuff of dreams. Thank you Harry (and now doubt the coterie of folks who are working away behind the scenes) for the many wonderful videos and this recap. The best for 2021!
That Pyrenees rally will be brilliant. I know those roads very well, perfect for that car.
Can’t wait to see the job in that glorious XJ12 Coupe. And nice to see you are going to coming to Spain in a rally! 2021 definitely start to looks better ;)
The year has been made better by being able to watch these video's.
God, I love this guy. It’s not the topic, it’s his presentation. He really is a car enthusiast’s car enthusiast. Great stuff.
The colour of that Jag is great, and modern IMO. New grille and wheels would be enough to give it an updated look.
I knew you had to start the CBX, I love it.
It started right on the money as well!
a friend of mine bought one when first released waited along time for it and went to london to collect 200 miles away all suited up for the ride home salesman wheels bike from workshop to outside showroom and drops it
broken pegs broken levers exhaust bent heartbroken came home on train and an even longer wait finally got the bike 2 weeks later stolen and written off
It’s the realness that keeps us coming back. In the reviews and the running of the business and channel. Thanks Harry.
Quite easily my favourite channel now, thanks Harry! I also had zero interest in farming but your channel has very quickly gained my interest. Thanks from Australia!
Been a fan for a while! Can't wait for the 2021 videos.
Salut from Switzerland 🇨🇭😍
Gorgeous cars. The elan catches my eye every time. The esprit next. The Jag for a daily driver. Have a great 2021.
Same here. I used to think I would own an Esprit one day since they are so undervalued, but as I get older their values creep up just a little bit faster than my salary, always keeping them just out of reach.
I still hope to own one someday, but the days of buying a decent Esprit for Toyota Corolla money are long gone, sadly.
Not a Brit per chance?
@@user-ht9fr6eh9u indeed
"The Jag for a daily driver" - uhhmmm on Harry's channel, you'll need to narrow that down a bit!
@@RustyPetterson perhaps the one in the video.
As one of the many people who discovered this channel during lockdown, I've been hooked ever since. Really looking forwards to the rebuilds next year. The Espada rebuild was fabulous.
Harry: the coolest car and bike guy on CZcams! Thanks for sharing your love and knowledge of these remarkable vehicles.
Can’t wait for your CBX video when you let it rip and capture awesome sound. I hope you keep loud exhaust on it and make it even louder. !! Lots of flybys please !!! Happy new year
Harry: You make the most interesting and enjoyable videos there are....Thank You and Happy New Year!
Thank you Harry. You have been the jewel in a challenging year
I love how your joy of ownership is all about the trips you have done with the respective car. Major props to you for using them as their creators intended.
Finally Harry Portugal!!! Get a hold of this amazing country by the Sea. Portugal follows you as of a Religious cult!!! Thank you for the incoming visit! Looking forward for it 🤠
Hi, I've only just discovered Harry - but discovered Portugal many years ago! Harry in Portugal sounds perfect.
Happy New Year, Harry! You sure helped us all get through this last one. Whew...
I love the way you have an enthusiasm for all your vehicles and knowing where you're at with them. As for shopping in the espada and the Lancia only being twenty something thousand, it's not rubbing our noses in it, it's just genuine enthusiasm, which makes me love the way you approach your videos. Thanks for your efforts in 2020. Here's to 2021. 😊👍
I was 11 years old when I got to sit in a red Countach at the Earls Court Motorshow in 1981. I'm still in love with them to this day. I used to drool over them at Portman Garages in George Street London.
You have the most authentic car channel. Your content is a cut above everyone else and I look forward to your trips and ventures in 2021.
It's like been at home with relatives and friends, this date with your video, during this unwanted locked holiday period. We wait for you in Europe, for several trips, despite what's happening with the greatest european island's borders. Cheers
Already looking forward to The Pyrenees 1000 vid. Such great videos...I almost feel as I'm there. Wishful thinking!
Well done Harry. I always look forward to new content. Thank you. Best of luck in 2021. Cheers.
Happy Christmas Mr Metcalf, thanks for keeping me sane with all the great content this year 👍
Wow. That Esprit trip seems years ago.
You're living my dream, keep on motoring...
A local wacky rich kid bought a Honda CBX. Being tractor pulling, garden tractor pulling, and then pulling ATVs in the mud got to be a thing. He took the back wheel off the CBX, mounted a pair of fat ATV WoolyBugger tires and wheels on an axle shaft, and entered into the 3 wheel pulling classes. Wildest thing one could see short of a 426 Hemi with a blower on it mounted as a 3 wheeler. The sound of that CBX screaming and mud flying everywhere was a real blast. It was totally out of control and prone to making spectators run for safety. Of course, being a huge Honda fan, and the fact he was competing against my 12-year-old daughter riding her ES250 in the event, made me feel he was desecrating Mother Honda. Wish I had it but I am sure he trashed it.
Really interesting, giving credit wherever it's deserved, plain talking, modesty, and sharing expert knowledge - the hallmarks of Harry's videos.
On the XJC colour front...
We had them in "Spanish Olive" with the vinyl top & i don't think I've ever seen them look as good. Very classy.
Classy boss
Watching this video in the garage in company of My 88 africa twin ❤️
Can't wait to watch & enjoy the new plans coming in the garage in 2021.Best wishes to you, your family and your garage in the new year.
Harry, you spoil us with exciting content! 2020 was stellar, 2021 looks like it will be at least as much fun.
Brilliant collection! Thanks for the content and happy new year!
What a great collection, I love the new Africa Twin .
love it, another great vid thank Harry. One of the main differences with this channel compared to nearly any other car channel is that Harry is not promoting himself, he's just sharing is passion, knowledge and experiences for us to enjoy. There is so much egotistical nonsense with other youtubers and its refreshingly absent here.
And only Harry would think to tease us with the sound of the CBX at the final few seconds of the video! What a machine.
With so many of us spending more time confined at home it's not surprising that your viewership is up dramatically. Thank goodness there is some quality content on which to while away the time. Any new Harry's content, whether from the garage or the farm, is an immediate must watch. Looking forward to a video on the KZ1300, but now of course, it would also be amazing to hear the CBX on full song with that Benelli Sei-like exhaust. I'm old enough to remember when this bike first came out. Some guy had one in Montreal with an open exhaust, the sound was decidedly antisocial, but omg did it send shivers up a gearhead's spine. Very reminiscent of the Honda 6-cylinder GP bikes of the previous decade.
Thanks for sharing your brilliant collection.
I love the XJ coupe except the colour so great decision! The CBX got started, hooray. 👍
I just love watching this channel. I save it to watch over a nice coffee and savour the knowledge and transparency!
I am a recent convert to Harry's garage - what a pleasure to build a car collection - doesn't have to be full of flash cars - and you get to tinker with all of them......

Thanks for keeping me entertained by your cars in 2020, Harry. Amazing collection. You seem like a real good bloke.
Just in the nick of time, thanks Harry, Full support from here!
Love, Love, LOVE the Lancia.
Harry, I know you do not have the time to read everybody's comment, but thank you for putting a smile on my face every time I watch your video's. Especially love the classics, looking forward to the Jag & Roller restoration. Damn shame you decided not to go for the John Steed replica, that was way ahead of it's time for a English gentleman's hotrod...and the New Avengers, what more would you want!
Any others agree with me? Here's to a much better 2021 folks, take care.
The reason why your views have went up is because your knowledge,, and passion shines through and it's most people's dream garage, cost analysis is great from Northern Ireland greatly appreciated ☘️☘️
Oh that countach 😍, love you're vids harry, a pleasure to watch and so informative, i think you need to take me round the block in the countach by the way 🤣
Love the fleet Harry,Happy New Year.
A huge commitment. Need people like you to keep these beautiful machine's alive.well done sir.
It is so nice to see the cars getting used and not becoming museum pieces
Good stuff, Harry! It would be nice to have a giveaway (I was thinking about the Countach). Thanks.

great roundup Harry, can't wait for next years builds.
First comment YES!!
Merry Christmas Harry.
Hopefully 2021 will be a better one for all of us. Thank you for all the videos over the course of such a difficult year. No doubt I speak for many when I say that your trips, reviews and auction specials alleviated some of the gloom brought on by Covid.
I still love the XJC more than any other :)
Agree... would like to see more videos on that one..
Me too. I've had mine since 1989, sadly laid up in the garage now... in a different country :-(
I'd be keeping it blue if it were mine. Change the wheels, but that would be it.
@@handycrowd as a lad growing up in the 80's and 90's, my dad had a Daimler VP Double Six saloon, which is where my love for the cars comes from

Slightly stuck for words. Heart skipped a beat with the plans for the Fulvia. I will book leave for the rally dates by which time my own asphalt assault machine will be ready for a test drive well away from the Black Forrest. It really has been a good year in the garage, In spite of external influences. Your passion is priceless Harry. Thanks. Keeps me going through the low times. Happy New Year to you and the M clan.
