    My fave part from the livestream is when Rod says “We don’t have loading screens, because life doesn’t have loading screens” and gives a cheeky grin to the camera 😂😂
    Edit: Thanks for the likes. And, more importantly, I’d like to echo something on the comment thread: TS2 came out in the early 2000s, when tech was less advanced and computers less able to handle open world games. So, anyone giving flak to Rod for the loading screens comment and saying “Oh? But he did TS2! And there’s loading screens in TS4!” … y’all need to rethink that statement.

    I'm excited, but honestly, it feels kinda overwhelming. Seems like a mix between IMVU or Second Life and The Sims. I'm doubtful about XP system and the whole "make your own conversations" bc it looks like too much work and I guess they'd just repeat over and over again, the bubbles with icons just work better since imagination works for every context, but I guess that depends on your gameplay style. It also looks like they're giving us a bunch of treats again and I personally just want the points system from The Sims 2 back, it gave Sims waaay more personality than the traits, but I guess we'd have to wait to see how this one works.

    I wish they used a similar art style as Crusader Kings 3, I love how characters look in that game. And speaking of crusader kings, personality traits are crucial in that game, they really make a huge impact, and crusader kings isn’t even a life sim game, so I can’t wait to see how fleshed out the personality of the “sims” of this game will be. Like, in crusader kings if your son is sadistic and ambitious he will 100% attempt to murder his older brothers and eventually you to become the new king. The sims 4 traits could never.

    In The Sims Freeplay you can switch between any sim in any household and it’s a really amazing feature and something I’d love to have in a future Sims game. It brings a lot more depth to the game IMO. I mean if your main household is socially awkward or unflirty but you still want them to romance someone it’s weird to have to have them do ALL the flirting but maybe you don’t want to switch into another household or be forced to play their whole family too.

    100% agree!!! some times, trying to make a game look realistic works: like the RE series and TLoU, for example- they look nice (to me, at least). and even The Sims Medieval, because although it is used w/ the Sims 3 graphics, which aged like milk, Medieval has some style to it and doesn't worry too much in "looking" like reality. the problem is, as Kayla said, when they get stuck on the uncanny valley; having an art style is always (to me) going to be better than trying to look too real.

    The thing about Life By You and all these other hyperrealistic simulation games is that they're seem to be run by the same 3D engine that makes it look like a lot of assets they used are from different websites shoved into one and the lighting is super striking that makes everything feels a little bit glossy that throws off the feel of the game tbh, with Sims 4, it took the opposite direction and is super cartoony, in which I really like but that is just subjective and people do crave realism. IDK the game looks promising but at the same time, is not my cup of tea. With life simulation games, I crave something that is out of the ordinary, (just like cowplants, variations of occults, and other wacky stuff unique to each Sims game.) and not the same old generic stuff that is available in your everyday life if you know what I mean. That's what The Sims advantage is, its quirkiness, its silliness even in the previous installments made it the best without even trying.
    It also doesn't help with the fact that some of us life simulation gamers does not really want to invest on a new computer just to play a singular game. Hopefully they'll adjust the portability because if this continues it will literally only just gatekeep the game from players in general.

This is why we’re not seeing any innovation when it comes to life sim games because EA is greedy and they want their game to be able to run on mobile. I'm glad you talked about the specs thing; because that was running through my mind while watching the trailer - because that's an accessibility issue. I confess I'm not super hyped to play this - the visual are not really my style - but I hope the competition leads to EA stepping up their game and am super excited to see what you and other creators will do with this.

    I totally agree with everything Kayla said about comparison. I love stardew and animal crossing, even tho vibes are similar, bc they’re different games with different things.
    I do think tho, if your game’s advertising is directly comparing features that you’ll have that other games don’t, you are kind of anticipating comparison. You’re opening up that can of worms. It’s kinda snarky bc by that logic, I could play the sims 3 with a color wheel, world creation, and an open world.
    I’m more interested in how this game stands alone, not what features they have that EAs current game doesn’t. Because if it’s just “im not the sims 4”, why not wait for project Renee (sims 5), or play the sims 3? I have my own gripes with EA and could argue that expansions and bugs have made it so I want to play new games.
    I guess my point is that I don’t want to love this game just because of what EA has or hasn’t done. I want to love this game because of what paradox does with it

    • @MeganJester
      @MeganJester Před rokem

      @@layelee exactly, but the game still has to stand alone regardless of who’s working on it or what it’s doing better than EA. Just bc someone is working on it who knows what they’re doing doesn’t mean it’ll be implemented well, and the comparisons mean nothing if they aren’t executed well.
      Like If this game is supposedly better because it has an open world, then it should be able to run well. TS3 had problems with being able to do that without lag which is why TS4 isn’t open world. But if you’re only comparing it from the lens of TS4 isn’t open world, this is, you’re not getting the whole picture. Does it run well, is it fun gameplay, for the price will it be worth it?
      It has to stand alone regardless of the names associated or what other games are in its genre.
      But people are going to compare the games bc of how it’s being advertised and who is working on it, which could impact things negatively. Because if it comes out ppl are going to say “the sims 4 has a better character design” “the sims 4 is less laggy” “why not just play the sims 3 if this games primary features are that of TS4”.
      It has to do well without that connection to EA

    It's really interesting to see a game try to provide a bridge for people who want to mod but can't wrap their heads or don't have the time to build that skill for heavily modding and thereby influencing their own games. This is making it accessible for those who normally can't. It reminds me of 2 games- SimTown which was kind of a cross between The Sims and full SimCity customization, you could pop in to any individual Sims life and read about them but also have control of the entire town. It also reminds me of Write Camera Action where you get to provide a full script and then watch your movie. It's really drawing on letting people be creative in the way they want most and seems to allow as much or as little control as you want- which is pretty exciting just to have the availability.

    I think Life By You seems really cool, but the graphics are definitely not my favorite and honestly the amount of customization seems overwhelming. What I want most out of the Sims 4 is less control and more spontaneity, like we had in previous Sims games. Life By You seems like there's even less of that. It looks cool, but I want to see more quirky gameplay before I get excited about it (and I hope they release it for Mac eventually ...)

    What I'd like to know is that will there be any historical, fantastical, scifi, horror, steampunk etc. stuff in it? If there's nothing similar to occults in the Sims this would immediately seem only mildly interesting to me, no matter how great the world customization etc. is. Which seems sad. Personally I just really enjoy the combination of mundane/realistic things and magical/unrealistic things. I'm sure someone would immediately mod some little adjustments like say elf ears but I'd like to see some actual gameplay mechanics, story, and animation for those type things. Oh well, perhaps there might be a dlc in the future

    • @Daiska_Plays
      @Daiska_Plays Před rokem

      You'll have that one way or another. Either it's so customizable that you, or modders can make spellcasting a reality, and certainly the world itself and lore, or the company will be making money off DLC like that. My thought is that since every 3D object in the game can be edited and scripted to be whatever you want, our people probably can be too. They give the players the same exact tools they used to create the game, so possibilities seem endless.

    • @MzShaybutta
      @MzShaybutta Před rokem +1

      They probably will add Supernatural elements to the game in DLC. That wouldn't be something that would be base game in any life simulations, just so people who want it can add it, and others who prefer a more realistic gameplay won't have it in their game.

  • @MIY-Kal

    Open world means no loading screens, yes you can switch between humans (this is how you see it in the trailer) you can advance like 10 years if you want. and much more they give us the tools they used to create the game. you really should watch the compleet announcement trailer with Rod himself. if you haven't already oh and have you seen the half tile wall placement. I did pre-order it I'm pretty confident that my PC can run it.

    I'm excited, but nervous. The combination of open world and so much customization makes me worried that it won't be able to run on most computers (like the Sims 3 where enough DLC made the game unplayable for many people)
