  • Plus a mini overview of my watercolor tray collection, I grab for these a lot. Perfect to try new colors before committing them into a larger palette. Also fun to use for big projects and you want to customize a temporary limited color story. Enjoy!

It’s actually refreshing to see mess ups because it’s something artist actually go through. Sometimes watching youtubers that don’t make mistakes makes me feel inadequate so I totally love that you posted this anyways. Plus that’s what a sketchbook is for!! Testing out new techniques and seeing what works and what doesn’t. Keep up the great work tori! I can’t wait for tomorrow’s video 💕🤩☺️

Ah, the frustration when you discover that you're painting you way further and further into unsalvageable territory, but you just can't seem to stop yourself!
I know this one by heart. :P
But yeah, like my art teacher says:
"Don't paint over! Paint through! Don't paint over, just paint on!"
She has this thing where she says that if you paint to fix a specific mistake, you'll make it worse, or "best case" straighten it up but overwork it, which is just another mistake, tbh, while if you ignore the mistake and work *around* it, most often it will sneakily fix itself organically during your process.
This is of course easier to do with opaque media, but I've still found her process very inspiring and try to learn from it.
I am really thankful when artists on SoMe share the struggle, like you just did. It is so important to share that we all have our crashes, and it's really nbd.
We have to learn not to let ourselves get defeated by any drawing or painting.

Thank you for posting this.. So true.. Doesn't help that we are our own worst critics and often 1st to put ourselves down.. But its true.. Oftentimes the mistakes work themselves out or present you an opportunity later that makes it work, and often you're the only one who notices it LoL 👍👍🤗🤗💯💯

I think the quote is something like, "when you open up the dam you will encounter some stagnant water before it runs clear." Basically once you've stopped for a while you have to push through the bad stuff that comes out until it's what you want.

I actually learned an interesting quote from a recent anime I was watching and that is... A single failure and a single success are the same thing. It's how you handle it later.
In any event, as long as you strive to better your work I'm sure you'll make art that you'll be proud of. And I know it's SUPER cliché to say but a sketchbook is personal and it is more for you than it is for us. (kinda like expressing your thoughts) So if it's a disjointed or an ugly drawing then so be it! Who are we to judge on something so personal. Art is always going to be subjective, sketch or finished realized piece or otherwise.

Haha! I totally felt that frustrating moment of trying to salvage the inevitable. It does happen, especially when doing watercolor. Also, I also relate to trying to use up all paints in the palette before reusing them for new paints. It's challenging trying to make new art from those old set of colors.
Thank you for being an inspiration in pushing forward despite set backs. Your growth in art really moves us all. I love you Tori~

The way you understand colors and shapes is exceptional and I especially love the lighter, more cheerful themes in your paintings. Your enthusiasm and happiness is contagious!
I wish I could afford paint. The only watercolors I've used for experience is the cheapest on the shelf. I come from South Africa and the Rand to Dollar was never good. The Rand to anything is not good😂 So I'm starting to save up money for a set that I can do anything with. Do you have any proposals? I also am unsure of quality books/paper to paint in and I don't know if I could reuse my older oil paintbrushes for painting watercolor?
Would really appreciate and love to hear from you! Being CZcams famous might make my comment invisible, but I'll always support your works on this channel. (These videos are my guilty pleasure between study breaks)
    😃❤🌷

I finished the thing I said I'd do yesterday so I'm here for more motivation! But how the heck did you know I was also digging out my dirty palettes looking to get more space to mix!!

I wonder if you would do any tutorials soon? Like portrait tutorial using watercolor? or tips and tricks

For the porcelain palette, maybe you could pop some rubber paws on that baby?

I have a small issue with plastic pallets... After a while I like to have a fresh, clean start and wash them but the pigment stains the plastic and it's hard to get that old, "brand new" look. I'd like to use them more often (I have a porcelain one and I love it but it's heavy and expensive). Have you ever tried to clean a plastic pallet? And of course, lovely art as always! It's sad you had to scrap it... xD... But you know your goals best!

Omg it's actually very beautiful! And that little lady in the left with her yellow glasses is so freakin adorable too. She looks like a character in a Wes Anderson film. I commented before watching because I really loved the cute thumbnail title. Yeah. It was actually mind-blowing to see how you dabbed off that so-so face and put on a gorgeous one (in gouache?). Girl, I think you ought to be proud and celebrate this one! Blowing you a kiss from 6 feet away and sending a congratulatory elbow bump

Hey i love your videos😁💞🔥your super talented and your artwork is amazing💞btw i was watching this video while drawing yuu nishinoya from haikyuu. Im not really great at realistic art so i mostly stick to an anime or cartony style but when i do feel confident i try my best to draw or practice drawing in a realistic style. Your such an inspiration thanks💞

Hey!! I'm early and hoping you will see this, do you think that you could revisit turner academy watercolors? Also, doing an overview of recommended art supplies (mainly watercolor?) Last thing (i promiseeee) could you go through your process of watercoloring/drawing humans? I learn a lot from you and I love how you approach paintings (and your style!!)

Oki doki! found the exact comment. You have a lot of requests XD its going to take me a while to do them. At this moment, I'm mainly concerned about surviving the week and just keep drawing. Once I'm at more comfortable pace, I can do focus topic videos within this series. For something super in-depth, I would need a more than one day to produce the video, sorry I can't do it sooner!

yeah sometimes art inspiration don't work. it's like it's not connecting well with the creative spirit and just don't come out as how it was in mind. I don't have that many times but if it really feels unsatisfying I just cancel the painting. else I continue on it, finish it and learn from the flaws in it. it belongs to the process until you master the medium and skills. 😊 and even then sometimes the art that been made won't satisfy the artist but everyone else will like it with master artists.
