    I like the transcription of the emotion ! And that lightness while being "heavy" with the shadows and saturated layers !

    I need to take a moment to write something. I love how you actually take time to play with new paint, experiment, learn how it behaves etc before giving your full opinion about it. I know it can sound as something obvious but I've seen many people from all fields review a product they barely got to use.
    Also the portrait turned out gorgeous!!

    I love this sketchbook series so much, it really gives me something to look forward to at the end of each day. I've been having trouble keeping up motivation as I adjust to working from home in these weird times (even though I am so grateful to still be able to work). This series also inspired me to randomly pick up my art tools again. I used to be fully immersed in art constantly but I haven't really done anything for the past 5 years due to being in school, and now I'm proud to say I've kept up a sketching habit for almost a week now. It feels wonderful to rediscover why I used to love art so much

    It is so hard to make my watercolors not muddy yet you do such a good job at it!😣👍 it's also pretty hard for me to do a limited color palette different every single time and if it's isn't different every single time I get annoyed at myself and say I'm not creative enough. You're amazing at art!😍😆❤

    These videos are making me want to go out and buy new paints so much! But i JUST bought 4 new Daniel Smith tubes that cost almost $90 (yikes) So now i have to wait a bit to get new ones hahaha.
    Do you think a set like this is good for seeing a larger range of colours/ pigments available to then invest in those same colours and pigments in the more higher end brands?

  • @mikashuus
    @mikashuus Před 4 lety +4

    • @taniaalva5557
      @taniaalva5557 Před 4 lety +2

      Hey! I hope this is helpful but after watching Tori's videos over and over again, it seems like she likes the prima watercolors ($20 to $30) and the Daniel Smith essentials ($30). Daniel Smith's is currently out of my budget. But I recently got a prima set and I'm so excited to get it in the mail.
      Edit: I just realized that i recommended the smaller sets. 😂 It's just that I prefer them. I don't like big pallettes.

      I've heard St. Petersburg White Nights being a good professional grade watercolor for a good price. A 12 set of full pans goes for about 30 USD on Amazon, and their student line, St Petersburg Sonnet, which has about the same quality as the professional save for a few colors, goes for 24 USD for a set of 18 full pans on Amazon

    Hi, tori I just wanna ask something. I want to watercolor but I usually want to paint portraits but I am discouraged due to me not having my own style. What do you think I should do?

    • @katnilsson
      @katnilsson Před 4 lety +1

      @Jessica I’m not Tori 🤓 but I have figured out that by painting/drawing (practising a lot) you will automatically find a way to do your art in way that defines you. I notised after a while that I enjoyed a specific way of painting. For example: I started of by copying (not to sell!) a lot of different artists and after a year or so I started noticing when I painted in my sketchbook that I always was drawn to paint flowers or big girl faces where I painted a really big eyes or a girl with a really long hair. I did realize that my style to paint is exaggerated facial shapes and exaggerated floral details just because I’m drawn to paint/draw like that just because it is what gives me the most satisfaction and joy!
      I hope this will help you a little😀 eventhough I’m nowhere near as talented as Tori 😊

    • @soulka9768
      @soulka9768 Před 4 lety

      @@katnilsson Thank you so much for your input. I haven't really thought about what appeals to me but I think what other artists like, sounds dumb but I do. Thank you and I will see what I like in my paintings. I don't care if you're not as talented as tori because we all have something special in our art

      @Chill Out Ig I have been caught up with trying to have my style a lot that I haven't been drawing for a while now. Thank you but I have a question if landscapes are the only thing a draw is that ok?

    • @katnilsson
      @katnilsson Před 4 lety

      @Jessica Of course it is 😀. You will eventually either move on to something new or tweak how you draw or paint! As Chill Out said just relax and let the art lead you. Just paint and draw without thinking if others will like it or not. I started my sketchbook collection (as many other artists) where I paint and drawn what ever I like 😀. Experiment a lot with your chosen style or with new/old mediums. Good luck 🍀
