I first started running when I was 16. And I couldn't run because I had serious spine and hip problems. So, with consulting a doctor, I started slow. Step by step. First time I managed to run 1k without falling on the floor from pain I cried tears of joy. Running became sort of liberation for me. It took me such a long time, but 2 years later I managed to run 14k. My body became so much stronger!
I am almost 25 now, and decided to start running again few months ago. I was scared of pain returning, but no. Body remembers! First 10k race next weekend, couldn't be more excited 🥰
I've watched many videos on how to begin my running journey. Truly, this is the most helpful. 🤗💚 It gives me options, little tips, inspired a few other ideas, and helped me feel better about starting at level zero 😅 Thanks, Chels!!
love this video, Chelsea! I hope you can keep making these, you have great communication skills!
Great video and tips. I tell people all the time you cannot compare your run journey with anyone else's and if you are disciplined enough you will reach out run goal. I took an 8 month break from running and now I am back out there a few days a week and I love how I feel when I finish each run.
So glad you did this video. Definitely want to get back into long distance running, and exercise in general, this new year.
I'm definitely not a runner but I love following your journey and seeing how disciplined you are! You're doing amazing Chelsea 💌✨️
This is one of the best start to run vids I’ve seen ❤
This video come at the right time I really needed this❤❤
Excited for the running content!
Excited for it they way u put confidence in me I love it ❤
im not a runner and dont plan on becoming one but I still watched and enjoyed this video! also I love going along with you on your running journey
Been on a running kick too and this is so reassuring! Pls do a vid on diff gels or snacks you take while running.
I am a runner never thought I would be able to say that! Thank you
Hi Chelsea, I finished watching the vid but have 1 question to you. I’m also from Toronto and wonder how you run during winter? Do you go to a gym or you run at your home gym? 😊
I also got back to running when i saw u training for 10k. Its very inspiring to watch.❤
Thanks Chelsea! I registered for the BMO race this year and haven’t even ran yet due to very cold weather and my chaotic schedule, so this is helpful, thank you! 🙏🏻
Love this! I want to get into running for the cardio benefits and the fresh air :) I bought shoes and belt. Just don't want to eat it on slippery roads so I'll start once the roads are clear! I'm a personal trainer and I'm good with weights but not with cardio, so hoping this is something I can stick to 1-2 times per week. I've heard that you almost need to run at a quick walking pace so you don't go too hard. Super hard to do when you want to be speedy haha
Thank you for the motivation!
This has me motivated to start running, I do a little on the treadmill when I work out as a warm up but I have asthma and such bad endurance I'm trying to work on it but I really should try harder lol, I was getting sick for a long time at my current job which isn't a problem I had before making it hard to work out when I was always sick but I started wearing mask and gloves to work which I don't do like everywhere or anything but I noticed where I work somewhere with so many people It's really made a huge difference and now I need to get back into working out and I'm very excited
Oh wow! I just got the Hoka Mach X at my local running store, and the other day, I was walking/running, and I noticed my foot kept rolling inwards! I had no idea that I was experiencing pronation. Good to know! Great video!
Thanks for sharing your running journey with us…😊
Thanks for the breathing tips while running. It makes me want to start. I'm a little worried about my knees, though.
Thank you so much for bringing up safety! Wearing headphones can definitely be dangerous.
Good luck in your next marathon! You should do well since you’re doing lots of training.
I'm currently doing a 10k plan on the Runna app where the focus is on improving my existing 10k time. I really like the structure it provides with the different types of runs but I'm going to adapt it a bit and ignore the pace it sugests for the easy and long runs as even though I dont find them difficult my heart rate was still always in zones 3 and 4 which does not reflect an easy effort. I want to bring the pace right down to improve aerobically in zone 2.
Would love to know some more of your gym essentials too!
So excited to watch your training for your half marathon! I’d love to run one but can never stay motivated to train long enough 😅 which is the run app you are using at the moment?
I’m so excited to jump into running this year! Thanks Chelsea for always inspiring me! Trying to use training for a half marathon as a stress relief for grad school. 💪🏼
Also! If this helps anyone I went to a sports pediatrist to get my shoe eval, I have slightly wider feet and am a toe striker. The doctor had me test out Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 (Width B), Brooks Ghost 15 (Width D), and Brooks Glycerin 20 (width B). I loved the Ghosts and the Glycerins, I currently use the Glycerins and I am obsessed!!!
Awesome running Chelsea 😊😅😅😅😅🎉🎉❤❤❤
Nice one!❤
hey have a wonderful week please be safe
Good luck with your half marathon training! I recommend joining Portland Runners in TO if you want some company. Very chill and encouraging.
Are there any shoe stores you would recommend? Would somewhere like Sport Chek do a fitting for running shoes?
What were your workout splits along with running? Any tips?
I’m working on my pace but I find it difficult tbh! I eat and rest but I’m still not going fast enough
i’m starting off running and literally the only speed i can run consistently at in zone one is 6km/h without having to stop and i feel like everyone else is running 5k in 20 minutes and i struggle to run 4k in 30 minutes
2:48 what app is this? I understood "the runner app" and tried looking for that, but I wasn't sure which app it is, since just a bunch of running apps show up if you look for that in the playstore. It's nowhere in the description or comments, so I'm having some trouble finding it...
it's Runna
what spf do you use!?
You literally look so insanely beautiful! Like you always do, but you’re glowing lately!
The only time you really need water DURING a run is if you’re running over 15k or out in a trail where you could get lost, or if you’re in Texas in the summer and running longer than an hour. Gels? You do not need those unless going 20 or over, or if you’re practicing nutrition for a long race. Do not complicate yourself.
Not everyone is fit enough to not need a little boost 😢
@@Amiasmr4If water will get you out the door then more power to you. But soon enough you will realize you don't need it for short runs and is more of a hassle than a boost. Have a sip before and when you get back. That will cover 95% of your runs. These kinds of videos make running seem intimidating by talking about electrolytes, gels, nutrition, strength training and being 10 minutes long (why someone whose longest race is 10k is giving advice on these things is another matter). Videos directed at beginners or people wanting to get into running should be 10 seconds long "Get a decent pair of running shoes some athletic clothes and walk out the door". That is all running is about.
@@SuperAaron99Yup. People who need water during short runs just weren’t hydrated properly before running.only exception as if you are running in very high heat which I would not recommend beginners to do to begin with. Either use a treadmill or do runs in the early morning or evening.
You clearly don’t live in Sicily 😅 lucky you!
@@Makeupdelicious1984 I live in Texas
Can you share the running app?
Runna
6:30-6:50 isn't slow at all per km.
What does this RUN app look like??
Runna
“Running is trending” it always is….
"I don't want to run slowly for my first 10k bc of my ego" runs over 50 minutes... lmao
people who didn't run in high school/college and only run 3 days a week and try to portray themselves as experts on social media are THE most annoying
I’m just clicking around videos so I’m not here to defend her lol but who would you recommend on CZcams for running content? Trying to get back into running seriously and its annoying how many people truly dont know what they are talking about
I’ve started running! Woo to 5k
I am using the “5K” app it’s yellow if that helps and I love it! Is this the couch to 5K one or is it the bluey green one?
