    Did TREK do enough?? Yes it is there "DO IT ALL BIKE" but it seems like this bike was forced with nothing jumping out and only making it look like this was done to remove skus?? Also the weight of the bike could be much lighter once new wheels are equipped, the wheels here are from 2021 and 1600 grams, you get some nice 1300 gram wheels this changes the bike weight by alot. Let me know what you think.... if you read this right now and breathing like this video

      I’m a Trek Guy. With that being stated. Trek states it’s -320Grams lighter and SRAM Group set is lighter -29 grams.
      It’s the same wheels as last year.

      Hey Grant just a heads up, those wheels actually aren't heavy. They are only about 30-40 grams heavier than the RSL 37s, which come in at 1325 grams. So still an incredibly lightweight rim.

      At this price point you might as well buy a Specialized SL8. If money was no option then use the Gen 7 for crits and lightning fast group rides. And buy a SL8 for those big days in the mountains. Now that would be the ultimate quiver. Unfortunately not enough folks are buying bikes as the marketplace is overly saturated from the pandemic.

      So on the website if u compare both bikes, the gen 8 is lighter. And if you ready carefully, they add * on “-320 gram lighter than the gen 7”. The * says “When comparing framesets”. And the 2021 RSL wheels in author comments, I believe it’s around 1400g instead of 1600g.

      It's going to get worse....In an internal memo Burke sent to executives recently, he said details of the cuts would be announced Friday. He said in addition to a 10% cut in spending, Trek would substantially reduce its stock keeping units (SKUs), saying Trek’s model year 2026 SKUs will be 40% lower than model year 2024.

    • @karlzhao314

      It's all in the bottles. Regular round bottles are a huge source of drag, so I can definitely see adding aero bottles to a decidedly less aero frame making the overall bike as aero as the Madone gen 7.
      The problem is, that comparison really isn't on a level playing field anymore. You could just as easily add those same bottles to the Madone gen 7 (or the Tarmac SL8, or the Venge, etc, etc) and see a similar boost in aero, which would once again put the Madone gen 8 back at the bottom of the pack in aero.
      It's all a spin on the data. I'm sure Trek has data collected from putting those same aero bottles on the Madone gen 7, and I'm also sure they're determined never to let it see the light of day.

    I'm incredibly happy with my Gen 7 Madone and see no reason to upgrade to the Gen 8. The irony is not lost as the Gen 7 Madone is equally as fast as the brand new Gen 8 Madone! However I'm still surprised they killed off the Emonda. What's new is the 900 OCLV carbon lay up. If Trek re-launched the Gen 3 Emonda in 900 OCLV with dropped seat stays, then WOW what a bike that would be! In sum, eliminating the Emonda and launching a new Gen 8 Madone (a gussied up Emonda) is really a cost cutting measure wrapped up in marketing jargon and hyperbole.

      There is nothing wrong with the one bike to rule them all model. Some companies who've had dedicated bike classes are having to play catch up. TREK is just taking a little longer to produce a bike in this category. Factor has the Ostro VAM, Cervelo has the Soloist, Cannondale has the Super Six Evo, etc. Just about every bike brand has a lightweight aero bike, which honestly doesn't matter anyway considering the pros all ride the heavier aero bikes because they are faster.

    • @BMD8
      @BMD8 Před 2 měsíci

      @@aloha_from_bradley i agree with the idea that one good bike is all you need, but the tarmac, this new madonne and the rest of the new "do it all" bikes are not very do it all. They all would be slower in the flats than their older counterparts. They are climbing bikes with extra marketing attached.

    • @aloha_from_bradley
      @aloha_from_bradley Před 2 měsíci

      @@BMD8 Wind tunnel optimization would say otherwise. We are splitting hairs here. All of the bike I've listed would be equally as good with a trained rider in the saddle. • @BMD8
      @BMD8 Před 2 měsíci

      @@aloha_from_bradley I wouldn't put too much stock on self reported aero claims, especially from stationary wind tunnel data. Deeper chords and narrower tubes are always faster in real world. To me the smallest and most insignificant changes are between the SL7 Gen 7&8. Pretty much the entire gen 8 bike is exactly the same and weighs only .28grams lighter. I prefer the more aggressive look of the gen 7. I would expect an immediate price drop of the gen 7 though given that both are currently the exact same price. Seat stays is a little thicker on Gen 7 but gen 8 does have a slightly more compliant stay (argumentative how much better it is). Aesthetically, the gen 8 color schemes are beautiful and imo, Trek has the best paint jobs in the industry.

Also, if you're buying a ~$15K (or whatever) top end Madone, you know the size you want in cm, not some arbitrary categorization that was done to save Trek money regardless of what they claim. Might as well say it was done for our "safety" like most BS changes that manufacturers impose on us these days. All I heard was start buying gen 7 framesets. There's absolutely no way that thing is the same aerodynamically. Also the gen 7's compliance is so good that on 25c grand prix 5000's I'm always worrying that I've punctured a tube, then I realize it's just the isoflow doing its job. I can't tell the difference most days so when I get a flat it catches me by surprise.

    80% more vertical compliance.
