- Seiko Releasing A New Diver's Watch. But Is It Better Than The SPB143?
Seiko releasing three new Prospex Diver's Watches in June 2024.
SPB451 SPB543 & SPB455
Are these watches worth successors to the SPB143?
Lets find out.

Make one without a date window.
Buy a Tudor if you want this watch without a date window. Date window is essential for a daily wear watch for me, and I for one would take this over a black bay
@@umassabbott yes cos God knows when one is diving...you need to know the date! LOL
I like the date better at 3, but this still looks great
They should have dropped the day function all together. It would look better
Lose the date window, keep it at 200m, make it 37mm, make the bracelet similar to the Tudor 54 & for God's sake bring back the grey dial (spb143) & you've got yourself a winner Seiko. Hell you could even make a quartz version so it's thinner & way more accurate.
I agree with all this. It'll be nice to see a smaller quartz version. Thanks for the comment.
My dady bought one NKUWAN and he loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when he went out with it.
Unless they stated it, the bezel insert might be steel. The current model is steel bezel, not alum.
There are too many guilded watches. I want them all! :D
I like the stealth dial-colour-matched date window on this new model. I miss the grey dial though.
Hopefully, Seiko will bring back the gray dial.
149 owner here. I don't like the date location switch. And indeed less clutter. I would like to see less dots on the bezel for instance. Also can we get a beads of rice or something else as additional bracelet? It is difficult to match the special treated metal of Seiko with after market bracelets.
Good point. I'd like to see more bracelet options from Seiko as well. Thanks for the feedback.
I’m loving the blue 👍🏻
If only it's a no date model
With no 3 days text
Then only I would consider selling my 143
I was going to mention it in the video. No date would have been better, but it's not a realistic ask because Seiko would have to make a new movement for it. Thanks for the comment.
Does anyone know what strap is on his 143? I love the texture and would throw a blue one on my spb213 if I could find that style
It's the Green Tropical Nylon Strap. Comes in different colors as well.
The grey dial to me is the biggest miss here. I'm OK with the date at 4:30 which would be the other controversial change. I'd prefer the date at 6 if they are going to move it, but I'm OK with the 4:30. Now the released colors are nice but the grey dial feels like an essential for any "62 Mas" reinterpretation. That said it's completely posssible we will eventually see it.
You're absolutely right. Knowing Seiko, there's a strong possibility they'll issue a gray dial somewhere down the line. Thanks for the comment.
They’re nice, but they won’t be replacing my SPB143…which I personally consider to be the “strap monster of strap monsters”
Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to be keeping mine as well.
@@WatchFocus8800 Yes, the "SPBs" were a really wonderful series. Cheers and have a great weekend.
I have to say that NKUWAN 's watches is amazing!
I just love when I see "special edition" "limited edition" or "limited run" on a Seiko watch; it means I get to pay $1100 for a $500 watch. 😅
I wish it was 42 mm. That's why I still prefer the SPB051 053 series 62 Mas.
- Why the NYC skyline in the ad? My guess is it’s an ad for the American market.
I don't think so. The same pictures are showing on Seiko's global websites. But thanks for chiming in.
I stay with my 143!
The 143 is hard to beat 👍
Round date window? Why is Seiko doing this on all their new watches?
i love you so much! I recently just found your amzwatch and i’m in love!! Your videos are so fun and you energy is just MWAH! keep living your life
The thickness is still not enough.
A good summary. I will keep my grey dial SPB143. I would rather have had no date, than the round date window. I also don't like the 3 day text on the dial. It is still a 6bpm movement, so no big change there.
Thanks for the feedback. A no date version would be nice, but Seiko do not have a no date movement option at the moment. Enjoy your 143.
i dislike channels that review/discuss on watches that they dun even have on hand, completely pointless
Calm your tits, he said its not out yet
I agree. News okay but review or comparison, ridiculous.
I've mentioned in the video, it's an overview, and not a review. Thanks for the feedback.
@@WatchFocus8800 yes an wonderful overview, but is it better? I guess we need to wait to find out my friend!
Dude calm your tits 😂 He said it's not even out yet!
The Seiko SPB143 has an engraved/brushed stainless steel insert that has a super hard coating applied for scratch resistance. The new models have basic painted aluminum insert that will not be as durable. For the $1,300 asking price, Seiko should have put on a brushed (matte) finished ceramic bezel. Would have achieved the same look with much stronger durability and scratch resistance. The aluminum bezel insert will scratch super easy on these new models. I absolutely detest aluminum inserts on dive watches.
bring back the old date window at 3
A little too small for my large wrist. 42 mm is ideal these days
I'll pass without even elaborating, my SJE093 is that good even like it slightly more than my 036:043 which I paid more but to thick and heavy. The rust so on my SJE093 is also much better than the 143 which I sold as well.
Very nice watch. Enjoy wearing it.
The. Backdrop of New York is to illustrate how deep people are in debt.
Far too expensive for what it is. It needs a high beat movment at the minimum
Unfortunately for us, Seiko are charging $4000 plus for their high beat models.
Re the NY skyline - I guess people are scuba diving in the Hudson River.
😄
Nice ❤
hopefully the 143 price will drop
Don't count on it. They are still very desirable.
What you’re missing is that 99% of people who will like and buy this watch won’t be buying it for diving but rather will be wearing it in urban environments like Manhattan because it’s a cool watch. You should know this. Or were you just playing dumb for comment bait? Well it worked on me haha
I get that most people would wear the watch in an urban environment, but I just never thought of it this way. Thanks for the feedback.
the watch is good but the price is to much for me.
Wait it out for a year or two and get it for much less. That's what I do.
@@WatchFocus8800 thanks for the advice.
It does not matter whether it can dive at a depth of 200 or 300 m. I'm not going diving anyway. In fact, I don't even take dive watches with me in the shower. The location of the date indication has no added value. I'll stick with my SPB 147. Top watch.
The percentage of people that go diving and wear diver watches is a very very small number. The 147 is a sweet watch 👍 thanks for the feedback.
we just want a balanced dial , and it will become the best. so seiko did not do this for some years😂
You are not force to buy if you don't like ❤
Beautiful but overpriced
There's absolutely no reason that watch should be more than $500
That would be true about 10 years ago.
🤔… reviews, reviews and again reviews. How about after sale guarantee reviews ?
I love a date complication, but I just can't wrap my head around a four-thirty date window. It's the backwoods, bucktooth cousin of date functions. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Yes, a four-thirty date window is not to everyone's taste. But if you're going to have one at four-thirty, then this is the way to do it.
Gosh. An extra 2 hours of poor timekeeping 😂😂
Desk divers 😉
This new release ain’t it. They should’ve made the new marine master 300m with these dimensions and left this spb range with 200m at 39mm diameter and a slimmer case.
Fair point. Although I think the limiting factor to go slimmer is that 6R movement, but, I might be wrong. Thanks for the feedback.
Another seiko dive watch... Wow... That's exciting 😴
Another Blanc Pain homage
A quartz version would be nice.
Not worth anything like the price. Should have the 8r movement, sapphire bezel insert, and please don't tell me it has a hardlex crystal. Seiko has lost the plot.
NKUWAN 's watch really surprises me!
Spb 313 is the best spb so far. Thinnest pro diver Seiko has made.
Amazing-looking watches. The picture of New York is related to the fashion and style it shares with wearing the gorgeous watch
Who cares if the watch is technically engineered to handle depth of the ocean,.
Do you wear your diver watch only for scuba diving or everywhere else while making a statement...
Thank you for that.
I have to say that NKUWAN 's watches is amazing!
My dady bought one NKUWAN and he loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when he went out with it.
