    I got the SXT Black top model 2019. I installed the k&N intake, Pedal Comander, the performance plug in/ chip, X pipe exhaust and ripp coils with h3 sparkplug set. I got a decent amount of torque and horse power.

    Keep up with the nice videos. Thanks for all the tips.

    On our third Durango.
    The current one is 2019 GT black top. Dodge nailed it with these Durango's. Every level is just amazing. Our 2019 has 75,000 miles and the only use is the rear heat stopped working. Haven't looked into a fix yet.

    Have you though about changing the diff, I know the V6 runs a diffrent gear ratio compared to the 8cyls. I saw an article where RIPP said if the V6 durango had the higer/lower final drive (depending on how you interpret) of the 8cyls model, that the RIPP S/C V6 durango would be as quick or a little quicker in the 1/4 than the SRT model

    • @MatthewRafter

      I definitely need to look into this down the line any how it would effect overall drive ability but I like the idea. I’m going to be doing a tune next and a little bit of spray which should put me in the bracket with a stock hemi for now. I took the winter off to save some money so I need to start filming again.
      Thanks for the idea, I’m definitely going to look into it.

  • @myfastcars
    @myfastcars Před 2 lety +2

    If you had to guess, What would you have to put as a HP/TQ improvement with all the modifications that you have accomplished? I have a 2015 Durango V6 Citadel with about 55,000 miles. Would like to do some improvements but don't want to sacrifice reliability and drivability. If I pulled off the intake to do coils, and plugs, I would probably go as far as hand porting the lower intake runners for better air flow through the engine. That with the Cold Air intake, bigger TB, would seem like it would all go together well. Those thinking about a CAT Back Exhaust, make sure you find something WITHOUT DRONE. Drone takes all the fun out of driving ANY car/truck when you have to live with it every day all day. About how much did your mod parts cost you total? Did it negatively effect your fuel mileage? THANK YOU fior all the info that you provide.

    • @MatthewRafter
      @MatthewRafter  Před 2 lety +1

      Awesome comment, love that there’s a lot to go through with this one. I would like to give an estimate for hp gains but it would be a pure guess based on the average for that mod. Everything complete knocked off half a second from the reported 1/4 mile times at stock. That being said all the mods didn’t show any negative impacks except for the Ripp coil packs that have now died twice on me. Needless to say I’m now back to oem. After doing the cat back mpg did go out about 2 miles a gallon, however, your absolutely right about drone. Even with little drone from the borla it’s enough to drive my wife nuts. I have noticed if I run eco mode when she’s in the car it’s much less. Honestly I was questionable about it at first but it’s no where near as bad as a carven or glass packs.
      After the new year I will be adding a 50shot to see where I can get the times down to until Diablo Sport makes the chip for the car. If I can find a reasonable prices awd dyno in the area I’ll do a video a post it up.

      @MatthewRafter  Před 3 lety +1

      There is one chip out there that is a slight tune, more unlocks than anything, no real big ones that I know of. Neither Diablo sport or pulsar currently have anything for the V6 in my year. Until I get forced air anything bigger that what I have wouldn’t be a change and could possibly throw codes due to being oversized.

      Nope, it was seamless. Like I said when I did it on my 17 1500 a few years ago I had to re calibrate it with the vehicle but no such problem with the Durango for my year. This was super easy for the truck turn key to accessories position pushed the throttle all the way to the floor (I think it was 6 times) and it electronically recalibrated.

      I can completely understand where your coming from. I had a Ram 1500 5.7 and absolutely loved it. I had to have a more family friendly car with my son and the truck just wasn’t cutting it any longer.
      I wanted to stay with Mopar and to get into a v8 Durango was not going to be in my budget. The mods I have added I was able to save up for over time when I had the spare change to do so. All in all I enjoy modding my car and what I have at the time. I understand
      1. It won’t ever be a v8
      2. I won’t be competing with a track hawk/ hellcat Durango.
      Bottom line this is the vehicle and trim package I could afford and I’m going to enjoy it.

    @bobbyd9583 Před 3 lety

    Step #1.) Don't buy a v6?
    Step #2.) Buy the R/T....
    Step #3.) After you buy the R/T Fight the urge to put a K&N filter on it... those things are hype only and not worth the money.
    (K&N filters filter less efficiently than a stock paper element filter. If you drive in a dusty environment, the oil from the filter will trap dust and create a problem, because the oil NEVER stays on the filter, it always goes into the throttle body. Further this, your stock bottom end engine will NEVER outflow the factory intake system. There is NO restriction on the dodge intakes, unless you are running forced induction.)
    Step #4.) Avoid the coil packs.
    (You are not running a high octane fuel that is hard to ignite because your stock bottom end does not make enough compression to require 110+ octane fuel. The stock coil packs are MORE than sufficient to create a good burn on 93. You haven't done any "engine mods" you have put bolt on trash designed to funnel money out of the pockets of people who do not know any better.)
    An "engine" mod would be putting a 6.4 intake on a 5.7, or putting a better camshaft setup in your motor, or adding a turbo (or two) or getting your heads and intake ported.
    Please for the love of all that is holy.... JUST STOP...... the V6 durango has ZERO performance potential. The suspension is not designed nor rated for any additional performance....that is EXACTLY why they sell, and why I bought the R/T... I wanted a family car with some get up and go....if I wanted a hot rod, I would have bought the SRT or the 21 Hellcat model... but those do not make any sense for a family.....
    You can literally empty your pockets into that motor, and NEVER keep up with a stock R/T short of forced induction and/or Nitrous.
