Not even a year into his reign as King of England, the monarch has been dealt a shocking blow- a cancer diagnosis.
Such a diagnosis is a shock for anyone, but being King brings with it an added level of complexity and scrutiny.
Media attention, rumours and family logistics will no doubt add extra pressure on the royal family whilst they navigate this difficult time.
Sky News All Stars Piers Morgan, take a look at what we know so far about the King’s cancer battle.
Can we eliminate the errors and cut the drama? First, he has been king for 17 months, not "not even a year." He became king and started hie reign when Elizabeth died, not when he dressed up and had a crown put on his head. Secondly, we know nothing about the extent of his cancer, type, or planned treatment...all of which are related. "Fight of his life?" WAY too much drama. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at age 67. 4 surgical procedures, 20 weeks of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation did not make for a pleasant year, but "fight of my life" would really be overdoing it. And my current status is "no evidence of disease." Yes, he could have the entire field of possible treatments....or he could be in a situation of "we got it all out but you need to have radiation." No, he won't feel like a jolly old elf, but please, at least until we know more, stop all this supposition,

I’m so sorry for your loss. My Dad passed in 2019 at 89yrs as well. Not cancer… possibly heart. Happened suddenly and no autopsy even though I asked for one twice. It wasn’t peaceful, but I pray it was quick.

He has not been given a death sentence…unlike the media is try to make out…he’s getting treatment…and is still doing his duty by working out of the public eye..why can’t the media stop speculating and show some respect..if at all possible…for once.
The King's diagnosis would only have been confirmed after the biopsy was examined and that can take up to a week for the results (longer in some cases). The treatment can take an awful lot out of you so he is wise to cancel all public engagement, especially to prevent the risk of infections, colds, flu's etc. for the King, which is paramount during chemotherapy treatment. As for the lack of working Royals during these times of illness, no-one expects them to make appearances, they may be Royals, but they are human beings, for goodness sake, they are a family too!
This is so true, the same advice was given to my husband when he was undergoing chemo.
And yet most regular working class people who have to go through chemotherapy must still go to work for the duration! My BFF is one of those people - the treatment made her horribly sick but she still had to pay her mortgage & other bills on time. At least the King doesn't have such things to concern himself with - but I'm sure he will still be concerned with doing his duty.
I hope they give him meds that keep his blood thin, and I am not talking about blood pressure meds.
Cancer meds cause your blood to thicken. You can wake up with a stroke, and that is why I have to take Xarelto plus a high blood pressure tablet as my meds cause me to have high BP.
Every year, the cancer associations debate to give the tablet profolactic, but it gets turned down according to my Oncologist as it does not happen to everyone. My BP was good for a 52 year old, mostly 129/78, but it happened.

Note to Piers: When in treatment for cancer, one has to avoid exposure to infections. Treatment subdues the immune system. Any kind of public gathering is a terrible idea when the immune system is compromised by treatment..
Not to mention that chemotherapy can be debilitation - I know firsthand. We don’t know if that is part of the King’s treatment, but if it is then his stepping back for a while is understandable. Chemo lowers one’s immunity in addition to its difficult physical ramifications. Let’s back off a bit, shall we?

Cancer after care treatment has changed slightly, but you're right in saying that in the beginning they throw everything at the cancer that's proven useful. Those first round means the King is in for a trainwreck, though a survivable one. It's the 'after care' maintenance regimen that's undergone the biggest changes. The patient remains at a slightly higher risk than normal, but a least the maintenance treatment won't leave them feeling like last weeks cat box liner. Wise choices made all around!

He must be taking Chemo Treatment, which makes sense. When you take Chemo, it lowers your immune system, so you really can't be around people. And he will lose his hair. Doesn't mean that he's not going to make it. If they caught it early, he should be fine.
I was kind of thinking a similar thing. There are various health treatments for different things that weaken a person’s immune system or compromise them in ways that would make it unwise for someone to be around dozens or hundreds of people while they are being treated. Honestly having his majesty the king be less public just makes sense.
Some cancers are terminal, no matter how “early” they are found. My family has lost members to pancreatic, brain, esophageal and lung cancer, despite it being found “early”. Age also factors too. Chemo, radiation and surgery are all very hard on elderly people, which let’s face it, King Charles is not a young man any more.

@@MB-uy5kh Chemo is always hard. So far I am the only one of my immediate and extended family that hasn't had cancer, all types. But for your King a good thing is the older we are the slower our cells reproduce, including cancer.
Radiation can cause a compromised immune system and can cause hair loss as well.

I have stage 4 Sciatic Endometriosis and I'm awaiting a hysterectomy. I'll be out of action for three months maybe more. It's common for patients who have that kind of surgery to be out so long.

I too loved my Queen. In fact, I was 6 years old when her father Our Beloved King George VI passed away. I remember being told that the King's cortège would be travelling down the main road. To a child living in the Highlands of Scotland, how was I to know that the King's cortège would be in London and not Scotland. I remember standing on Castle Street, Inverness near Flora MacDonald's statue waiting for the procession that never came. I loved my Queen for that early age. I remember swearing allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II at school, after joining the Scouts and after joining the British Army at the age of 15 years. Yes I know, I was supposed to be 16 years old to enlist but I back dated my date of birth which my father picked up as I had left the DOB blank. I told dad to sign it and I would put the date in later. That is how much I loved my Queen and was proud to wear her uniform. I was gutted to learn she had passed away. I did not know you had to be on a waiting list to go private. Sounds like you begrudge the King. Everybody would go private if they can.
In the UK anyone can self refer to a private Doctor. Ypu would be seen within a week or so. If you have private health insurance you would be seen very quickly too. I had a weeks wait to see a Private Dr , thru' BUPA, for an eye issue my NHS Dr couldnt seem to diagnose. Re cancer treatment, France is considered to gave the best treatment & highest cancer survival rates in the world. Which is why Kylie Minogue had her breast cancer treatment there.

The King is truly a lovely man. I am so sad that he has been dealt this blow. I have watched the journey my Mother traveled and how she managed to give "me" strength has never left me. She was incredibly strong until the end. Prince William will stand by his Father with love, support and a deep loyalty. A stoic, dignified and dedicated MAN. God bless the Royals, I know no matter the outcome, The late Queen would be extremely pround of Charles and William.

Charles has been misunderstood for so long, I decided to read everything I could find about 25 years ago, I used my own pretty good research skills, had no bias going in. I found a sensitive boy who, had he been born to other parents, would probably have grown up with the physical affection he needed (Anne is more like their father, very no nonsense, hugs not required nor enjoyed. Anyone who visits friends or family in hospital or at home after surgery should know to keep the visit short. And in this case it is not only surgery, but also the diagnosis of cancer, and maybe the King is even having chemotherapy or radiation treatment (it sounds as if he is imumnocompromised at present). So no-one should expect to go waltzing in and talk to him for more than a few minutes at a time.

King Charles,as Prince,made many visits to Ireland and is well liked here. We know he particularly likes Kerry for its beautiful scenery and beaches. On one occasion,he and Camilla strolled down Derrynane beach,which is to my mind,the nicest beach on these islands. We look forward to his visit as King so he can complete the amazing healing process that the Queen started on her visit to Ireland in 2012

Which is why Harry didn't stay more than 20 mins yesterday after travelling 11 hours on a plane full of people with the A/C spreading germs around he could be a carrier and pass it to his dad who's going through chemotherapy &it makes you immuno surpressed. I know because I'm fighting stage 4 & immuno surpressed it's hard work watching for infections and strict lifestyle we have to lead and miss out on visitors with family etc.. Especially my young grandchildren.
