- THIS is the Ozarks - Arkansas Adventure Film
This is the full length version of a series I released last year. That trip was almost exactly a year ago. It was quite an eye opener to the challenges the Ozarks could present. At points it was simply beautiful, and at points it was anxiety packed. But it was awesome, and I was absolutely thrilled to have captured the adventure. Join us for the the first time, or perhaps again in the full length version of one of our most incredible adventures to date.

I think you’ve helped cement the FJ as an overland-capable icon. That little blue beast says, “hold my beer…” so awesome!
Haha yeah it’s a pretty bad ass platform I have to say. Love this thing!
The ozarks never disappoint. That’s why I love going back over and over again lol
I liked seeing the Ozarks through the lens of some people from Colorado. Set your pride aside and follow the Ozark Overland Adventure Trail. It may give you a great experience for the time you have in that area. Mud Terrains are something to seriously consider for the Ozarks.
I spend a ton of time over there. Such a great time. Everytime it’s totally different.
so beautiful🥰 I sware I will go out and enjoy nature this weekend
46:30 no snorkel send is gnarly. Those LR3’s are absolute beasts
As long as the bow wave is maintained, none of us really needed snorkels.
But yes, the LR has impressed me several times!
Thank you so much for the video. It is inspiring me to go and see the world.
I was just there and explored all around that same area in early April this year (2024), up from Texas. Pretty sure I was on one of those same trails when I ventured a bit more east. Mostly stayed a bit west of there. Fished Hurricane creek and Big Piney Creek, caught perch, small mouth and largemouth (all small) right off my campsites, and found an EPIC, very rough 4x4 trail kind of close to the Carwash Falls area that had me using my rear lockers - one of those, "no turning back now," things. Had mostly beautiful sunny weather and one HUGE thunderstorm. Arkansas is just spectacular! I like just a little more techy four wheeling than you guys, but it's smart to play it safe when you're not in your own neck of the woods! I'm moving to the Missouri Ozarks in March of 2024 and cannot wait to be immersed in the beautiful forests of the Ozarks. Great video as always. Cheers!
Its an incredible place! Yeah I get sketched out on some trails just because I am well aware of how top heavy the Fj is. With its short wheelbase, it gets tippy rather quickly. Perhaps with the new truck I will give that mud pit trail another attempt some time.
I have been trying to get more Overlanders to use the Beechers Leveling wedges that they sell for RVs. you drive up onto the arches and they level out the rig. plus they have wedge blocks to keep you from rolling back down.
I would love to tag along with you if you come back to MO or AR again!
One of the best camping sites I've ever watched. It feels so real n existing just by watching it 👍❤
Thank you 🙏
Great trip. Inspires me to doa trip here in Aus, with my FJ and a mate in his new Jeep!
That part about reporting back to the places that fund the trips...Its horrible that we get so few chances to get out. Excellent video, first time seeing this channel
Yeah, heading back to the grind sucks every time. Especially after a longer trip. I always want to just keep going.
This is a pleasant surprise first thing in the morning. ☕🍩☺️❤️
☺️ thanks for tuning in!
That first campsite is one of my favorite places to visit on the dual sport. I took the family there to watch the eclipse on 4/8. Having said that, I just got my first truck two weeks and have been watching build videos. The algorithm served me your channel last night and I watched the segments of this video. Lo and behold, the full version posted today, so I may as well watch again.
Haha thanks man!
What are the odds? Jailbreak overlander just uploaded a "movie" on the Ozarks the other day. lol
Yeah he just commented on it too! I have been wanting to re-release this, but wanted to wait at least a year since the trip. Worked out well timing wise!
Fantastic work man. Really makes me want the weekend to hurry up and get here, lol. Thanks for sharing!
Me too! Ready to get back out there!
Never camp on a sand bar in the Ozarks, flash floods are very real. Great video man.
Yeah I grew up in Missouri, but since moving to Colorado I have forgotten how crazy it can get in the midwest and south. The difference in precipitation and how that water flows is completely opposite of what I am used to now. Thanks for checking it out, I sent you a text and a IG message by the way. Get back at me for the information you were looking for.
Cool vid mate, totally loved it..
Very much appreciate that! 🙏
Wow, what a great adventure. I too am from St. Louis and have recently discovered I need to pay more attention to AR (as it’s in my “backyard”) as much as I want to go out West where you are from. Thank you.
Being from Springfield, I wish I had ventured more into Arkansas before I moved. Its now one of my favorite places to take a trip.
@@IndependenceOverland That’s even cooler, maybe we’ll get to meet up someday.
The cable you were swing on is not a rope swing. It’s how the forest service tests the river for water depth.
I enjoyed every minute of this video. Thank you for sharing.
I love to hear that, thank you for watching it!
Very cool adventure! Nice work!
Thanks for checking it out man!
Beautiful adventure, but a lot of courage during the river crossings, the rover even without a snorkel. Glad you made it!
It was an intense moment!
Went there before Moore Expo. Loved it.
Went through both of those crossings in December of 23, the difference in the second one is the current, it was a little deeper when I went through but the current is insane through there, that was my first water crossing of the Ozarks, and I walked it in December because it made me nervous. For anyone wondering, those two crossings are the start of the high water mark trail
Damn I bet that was a cold walk in December!!
I don’t live too far from there. I go out to Forked Mountain all the time!! One of my favorite spots 😁
Pretty sweet out there!
Hey there, my wife is from the Ozarks and is really enjoying your coverage. Thanks so much for sharing your kind comments on the area. She has lived in Colorado for 20+ years and we're in Golden. As we often say though, you don't always recognize how special your home is until you leave. Appreciate reliving the forests, rivers, and all around good Ozark vibes through your stories.
Yeah we talk about that a lot. I was into the. 4x4 stuff back when I lived near there, I wish I had ventured to Arkansas more back then. The feeling of summer there is something I miss, the humid air and the lightning bugs are pretty incredible.
Y’all should definitely hit up Lake Winona spillway next time!! Y’all weren’t too far from it. The trails out by Forked Mountain will lead you back to Flatside Pinnacle, Forked Mountain Vista point & Winona Spillway!!
Roger that, thank you!!
This looks amazing dude. I’d love to get out there one of these days. Just such a mob. Great filming and storytelling though!
Thanks man I appreciate you checking it out! It is SUCH a different world out there. Its like a jungle really. I highly recommend it. Its kind of like going to Mexico too, to be totally honest. Gas, food, everything, is cheaper. At least compared to what I am used to up here.
I’m going there in July!
I had the same issue Jeep had but on my TLC Prado 95. It's because the water gets to the connectors and they get wet. Had to stop for 1 hour for them to dry, but it would be easier if I had some brake cleaner or carb cleaner to spray on them it would get the moisture out more rapidly. Nice trip you guys had 😀
That kind of cleaning will make the rubber on those connectors swell up, and can ruin their water resistance all together so be careful!
The Ozarks have stolen my heart. From the rocks, trees, national forests, to the people.
It’s easy to fall in love with.
Yes it is. Beautiful spot on the map!
Crazy how I live in the area and still haven’t found some of trails.
Arkansas weather is very very unpredictable. We also had a ef3 tornado last week in north west Arkansas
Yeah I don't miss that part about living in Missouri.
Fj’s are super capable for sure. Love the vids. Keep em coming 😊.
Also if you see this how long did those nitto ridge grapplers last you? I been thinking of picking up a set for my 2020 Ridgeline. Been hearing good things about them.
I honestly don’t keep track of mileage wear, but I have been getting 2-3 years out of a set. They still have life in them when I buy new ones, I just like to keep deep tread for my trips.
One thing is they seem to need rotated quite a bit, at least on my setup. Every 3-4k miles to keep them wearing even.
Id like gps coordinates of that area at the 45 minute mark
lol bro I just put up very similar ozarks movie great minds I guess
I bet yours is a lot more hard core than mine though! I’ll go check it out!
@@IndependenceOverland Dude were filming in same place wierd tree waterfall etc.
Great video----What time of the year were you out there?
This time of the year. This was almost exactly 1 year ago.
Hello
Very nice video!!
I have 2 questions:
Where did you get the VHF/UHF antennas you have in the rear door?
Where did you get the mounts for the rotopax and also for the gas tank ?
The antenna is actually a CB antenna I have now taken off. We used to use it but no longer do, I will be building a new bracket soon for the same location. My VHF/UHF antenna is on the front bumper on a light clamp sort of mount.
The rear door rotopax mount is on the Expedition One rear bumper swing out knuckle.
The propane mount is front Refined Cycle. They also sell a rotopax mount to mount cans similar to how I have them mounted. I highly recommend you don’t use that though. That’s a crazy amount of weight for the tiny rear door hinge.
What area was this? This looks awesome
Unrelated to this specific vid, but, any ETA on the new truck?
One dealership called me today, but I waiting on a call back for more details 🤞
It’s time to move forward as one and leave the past in the past.
We all have come to New Zealand by ship/boat and later by plane.
The treaty of Waitangi is a historic document that needs to be learned about but not keep referring back to like the Bible.
Wrongs have been done in the past by all of us and we cannot fix them now!
Time to turn the page and move forward.
What kind of case is on the back of the FJ?

When are you coming back and can I go with you?
Possibly this Fall is Toyota will hurry up with this truck! I’ll plan a Patron meet up night if all works out.
so the take from this video is to get a toyota fj over a jeep
Haha....we just used our atvs in this area. Been there several times. Love from a Texan.
city trucks lmao
Huh?
I agree. That Range Rover needs to stick to dirt roads. The rubicon is the most capable and has potential.
Water up to the headlights, no snorkel, no lockers and still crossed... marginal crossing to be sure.
Huh? If anyone slowed down on that crossing, bad things would happen to the vehicle without a doubt. Electronics would certainly fail.
@@IndependenceOverland lol, I was impressed is all I was trying to say. I was extremely nervous for him.
Sorry I misunderstood. I get a LOT of negative comments lately. My apologies.
