There's too many paid ads that ONLY talk about great things with new cars. I've been a pretty vocal person AGAINST recent automotive journalism for its bias and finally, I think we maybe had a slight win. Maybe. The release of a car you've never heard of has reignited my soul that maybe, just maybe, people are truly out there looking out for the normies that use car reviews to actually buy cars. Ya know, like normal consumers. The Vinfast VF8 reception is one such vehicle. A company made by a Vietnamese brand which has rapidly launched into America. At a price of $49,000 to start, it's actually pretty competitive.
But people don't only buy based on price, and according to reviews, Vinfast has a problem and they're aware of it. Building cars the right way, with the right functionality, is apparently tough. 111 vehicles leased and all had to be recalled for issues. Nevertheless I would have expected praise for it's "innovation" in the marketplace but instead, I'm seeing the opposite. So come by today's video where we chat about Vinfast, why it's a brand you probably never heard, why this release is so important past just itself, and what the future looks like for people who enjoy combustion motors in their cars vs. those that like to drive Iphone Apples.

What do you think about the new cars coming to the space? Good to go or should Lobbyists finally have a real job? Let me know and of course, thank you for all the support
Are you journalist ?. I don't think so. This is the most stupid article about a company from a dirty youtuber.
Have you tried test-driving one? Or are you just repeating "real authentic journalism", convinced that, despite all those other times, THIS time it's "real authentic journalism"? What if it's not?

A Vietnamese national, native and still currently residing there (i.e., MYSELF) endorses the entirety of this statement. Bribery and at best, unregulated and definitely forbidden facilitation payments, are common place in all admin procedures. Just as an example: for a driving license in scooters, majority of people I know just pay a fee upfront to get it without even showing up to a driving test; for the automobile driving license, people can (and from my personal experience about 30% of people do) still pay a fee to skip certain segments/ portions of the test and to have the test conductor in the laws & theory section help you cheat (they pass you the answers either verbally or via a note).
Anyway, Vin Group has such a tight grip on political power and control of the press that (1) yes, there being a rumor at all is surprising; and (2) not a surprise no details can be verified.
And they claimed that they will overtake Hyundai/Kia in next five years... Lmao
Commie talk 🤷♂️
Yeah good luck with a car quality that is worse than a Soviet car like ZIL Chaika or Lada Niva
I've test driven this a month ago in California and honestly this company had too big of an ego and wouldn't listen to us at the test drivers. On top of that practically everything that is supposed to be functioning in an electric vehicle just the bare-bones basic stuff either froze or just never worked. Then they have the audacity to try to sell this vehicle for $70,000 it don't even Market this Vietnamese build vehicle in places like Little Saigon or even Beverly Hills instead they were go to Skid Row or Carson it just assume people will have interest in this. So for them to fail is no surprise especially since they thought they could sell over 50k vehicles in one year of release

Well for starters you never buy a car with with the word "Fast" in its brand because the only thing Fast about it is the loss of its value and they seemed to prove that...

I can't imagine why this guy can make comment about a car, which he haven't drived. He just read comments from some car jurnalists (just some, not a lot). The pictures, which he used to describe VF8, are even not the VF8.
He's commenting on the reviews it's getting. He never actually gave he's opinion on the car or claimed he knew about it.

To be honest, many people would be looking forward to cars from Korea or Germany rather than Vietnamese. Of course, this car's design is perfect.
As a vietnamese myself, i know there are lots of room for vinfast to improve and i hope the brand will learn a lot more about ev since they are still new to the market
As a Vietnamese, you should ignore VF scam nor VC for a better future of Vietnam

@@SertyLuvP it's entertaining me as comedy show just like the others
I drove the car. It's so horrible. Test drive it before making a decision to buy it.
Frankly, my main issue with EVs is the charging time and still the lack of infrastructure for charging stations. I only know of like 2, maybe 3, Tesla super charge stations within a 30 minute drive of my house, but there are 3 gas stations within a 5 minute drive.
For me it's the questionable safety and longevity, as well as questionable emissions
How many people do you know who fill up with gas at home, for pennies?
@Nosey Nick that's great and all but when I'm making a cross country trip and there's no charging station for miles and the battery is getting low or I have to sit at a charging station for an hour while my car charges up, the savings of charging at home really don't make me feel any better about the charging times and lack of infrastructure.
why do you care about how many superchargers are within 30 minutes drive of your home? Wouldnt you be more aware of ones 3+ hours away at point where your battery range might need one??
@rubberroast1598 this is just an example of the proliferation of charging stations in the area. There simply aren't any, but there are plenty of gas stations.
My point is that they aren't nearly common enough for a full switch to electric vehicles. Especially for longer trips.
Was in the interior during the LA auto show. So cheap. And nothing special. Even in Vietnamese communities I barely see any of them and the ones I see have manufacturer plates. It looks like a money laundering operation.
Either they completely flop or they take the criticism and improve there is no in between
This reminds me of when U-haul had that same problem, drive, reverse, turn signal, and it broke the news here in Canada years back. Yea, I'm not fond of electronic cars just yet.
This is the kind of reviews that made you think more about the host than the car.
I checked out the preproduction model in Santa Monica, then drove it twice. I was offered a job after interviewing at VF and turned them down. The products are so far behind.
Say what you will about Tesla, but they really have set the benchmark for what is expected from an all-electric car. Only a couple others have done well
When Hyundai first came to the market back in the '80, their cars were crap, took them almost 30 ish years to finally put them on the map, until today some of their models still crap. There's a trend about stealing Kia cars aka Hyundai and posting on CZcams called Kia boys. The question is how long can VF ev hang on with the current market of ev already saturated as it is, unless VF can come up with a fix to its many problems that the car has presented, and for $50k some of their models I don't think it is worth the price.
so disappointing, I saw them at the car show this winter, and last year in Norway, haven't driven one yet, but I will just to see if they improve anything.
I never understood EV manufacturers needing to add so many "premium" features that only make the battery get used up faster. Like EV's would have been an easier initial sell if they weren't built as these super luxury cars, not to say they need to be econo-shit boxes either but like every review of even base model EV's have like a two page list of creature comforts and such that just seem excessive and unnecessary
Because it's standard fare in the automotive industry to introduce new technologies in luxury cars. Also, before the Model S, EVs had a bad reputation of being slow, low range, and dorky compliance cars (which to be fair many were) and the Model S changed the paradigm to make EVs desirable and cool, which put the car industry in that direction.
Cos if you don;t have all the premium features, people will say your car "feels cheap". Hey wait a second... 😆
I love that you didn’t take their money, yet your here talking about them and being a real man and putting the actual facts out there. I love you brother, I’m so happy your doing good
I’ve seen one in Ontario cal. And I’m personally a sucker for good headlights and taillights, in person it’s a good looking car.

VinFast started out with ICE cars by rebadging previous models from BMW and GM vehicles stylized by Pininfarina. I think they’ve completely done with ICE and only producing EVs. Most,if not all, of their parts are from China and it shows by their poor quality with many cars broke down or on fire in Vietnam. Many Vietnamese don’t take criticism of this brand very well so if you travel to Vietnam, it’s best if you don’t say anything
; especially in the North where they heavily emphasize on presentation.
VN built quality like the so called vinhomes are totally crap. All the vins brand are just marketing gimmick lol
Great review!
I don’t want to jump on the hate bandwagon just yet (because I’ve never seen one in person) but I’m not going to praise the car either. Just based on looks, it’s nothing special. Just looks like they saw a Ford Escape, Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4 and said “let’s do the same thing but try to make it a different brand”. In terms of cool and different EV’s, I think the Dodge Hornet looks like the coolest thing out there. It’s sport looking, it has a cool name, it comes in cool colors, numbers are up to par with other EV’s but at least it doesn’t fall behind in any one thing. Pricing is also fair, starting at low 30k’s (MSRP).
Now this thing, no brand identity, no real reviews, atrocious 0-60 and nothing to even make it look cool… yeahhhh this is a disaster just already in motion. If this brand wants to get serious about competing in the EV and automotive world, they need to bring in a sporty sedan or coupe as their halo car, something that’s similar in size to a Tesla Model 3, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and have it make some impressive numbers and have distinct exterior designs. If they can do that, and charge just a few thousand dollars below the others’ MSRP prices, then they’ll already have a lot of eyes on them.
In Vietnam I have travelled in the two different models both seemed ok from a passenger point of view. I didn’t experience the same problems you described. I was impressed by the 360 degree camera. The automatic parking and slow speed travel following. I at least think it’s a good city car. There was plenty of leg room. I certainly would like a closer look , not just just listening to hearsay. By the way I’m not Vietnamese but I’m currently here 9:09 on a-trip. I would like you to do a test drive in an unbiased manner.
He's just one of the VF haters that's trying to gather other haters to his house in the weekend

Last week VFS was 15$ a share now is 60$ a share . Dang I missed it
I've personally sat in the vf8 and I don't see any quality issues so far....so not sure what models this reviewer is reviewing
An electric can never feel like an ice. It can never have a soul like an ice. The noises and smells fluids and oh man. I love ice. It’s where my heart is at.
The car manufacturing industry is intricate, requiring years of refinement by manufacturers and their engineers, guided by market feedback, rather than relying on marketing hype. To ensure consumers get good value for their money, fostering competition in the market is the correct approach.
Same crap people used to say about Hondas and later Hyundai’s they were junk. Not anymore. Well Honda’s suck now but at least they’re reliable.
Nah! You have to drive it to believe it. If Vinfast had been bad, Sandy Munro would not have spent time making 2 videos about Vinfast VF8. Sandy Munro said in one of his VinFast VF8 videos, "VF8 is a family car, which eventually makes everyone happy." And it sure is. CZcamsr Kim Java has had a VF8 video. In her video A Tesla Family Takes on the All-New VinFast VF8, Kim Java, cameraman-her husband, and their 3 young children seemed to totally enjoy the driving experience of the VF8 in California. The family SUV VF8 in fact keeps the kids safe.

@@jeezzz6974 You must be one of those who followed herd instinct like sheep and chimed in with people who set out to disparage Vinfast which comes from a developing country. That's called prejudice but time will change perception. I hope you too will come to accept Vinfast as a reality. Vinfast has decided to plant the flag in North America first to test the water but it intends to go global. There is a big market for EVs in Southeast Asia and Europe, not just the US. The founder of Vinfast, Mr Vuong can be considered a national hero because he lays the foundation for Vietnam to escape the status of a low income economy and progress to reach the status of a developed high income country, thus following in the footsteps of Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore. Vietnamese are known for their strong will and tenacious in their determination to succeed. Vinfast will not let despicable people like Kyle from Out of Spec Review, Jalopnik, etc.. who deliberately set out to sabotage its plans to get established in America.
I won’t own a ev if I can ever avoid it

Who gave Alex the lighter?
I was lighting candles, ok?
Did you test drive it Alex?? Talk is cheap.
Have you test-drive this car?
I can't say a word with you boy, poor you!
When a negative post about Vinfast cars appears, one can notice there are two kinds of people who give their comments. There are people who accept the bad review at its face value without question and chime in, they behave like sheep following herd instinct. On the other hand, there are rational people who prefer to test drive the VF8 in person before formulating their own opinion rather than relying on hearsays from unreliable sources. There are people who deliberately set out to bash Vinfast like Jalopnik, out of spite, prejudice or being paid to damage Vinfast's business prospect in America. The worst case is Kyle Conner from Out of Spec Reviews, he made up his mind prior to coming to a Vinfast Center to test drive VF8 (czcams.com/video/rjee1LdmHbo/video.html). He was not even at the driver seat, the test drive being conducted by a Vinfast personnel. He seized every opportunities to disparage Vinfast cars, I would not be surprised to find him banished from Vinfast show rooms. The public deserves an unbiased, honest review to help them decide whether to make the purchase.
It's noteworthy to quote a few people who posted a honest review of the VF8:

Same price as a Rivian? Way better electric SUV
This Vinfast thing reminds me of Doug Demuro's review of the BYD Han, and that if the market set aside their biases and prejudices about China and Chinese brands and evaluated the car for what it was, BYD would sell tens of thousands of Hans a year in the US, because it is not only a great EV, but a great car, period. And while BYD has been around for longer than Vinfast has, they too had a period of skepticism and bad cars, but they got better, improved their designs, their build quality, and now BYD is the #1 EV maker in the world, with Tesla in second place.
But BYD and Nio and other Chinese brands got solid government funding (Asianometry has a great video) and experience too. I definitely would rather have them in the US to disrupt the market. Otherwise it's basically high end models, the leaf, and ioniq.
@@QuickQuips if I'm not mistaken, the Chinese government has partial ownership of them, so they're not state owned, and it's more like an investor relationship.

In April they sold 3800 car and May 3000 cars, rest of moths they will deliver more and will reach about 45~50K cars sold out in 2023, more information in May VF8 is best sale in VN even high than Toyota. Anyway, their breakeven point is around 60K car and they will have a bit profit start from 2024. From that they will firmly expand to global market and believe in me, they will be successful
Vinbot please stop the mastubation
I don't care how people who have never owned Vinfast rate it. The truth is that Vinfast sold an equal number of VF8 cars in Vietnam in the first three months of 2023 as Toyota sold BZ4 EVs in the Chinese market. So the VF8 is not bad either. In Vietnam every year, about 500,000 cars are sold while in China it is about 26.8 million cars, about 50 times more than the Vietnamese market.

Question to ask how long for a 4 wheeled automobile car drives from cho Ong Ta to nha tho Ba Chuong? Let me know. Is it faster than a walker. Or vice versa? Is there any road for 500000 cars to drive around the Vietnam country road. Or just sitting in the cars “to enjoy” gasoline fuming smokes.
I don't understand why you can't say it without a test drive, I think you are PR yourself by mentioning the car company when they invite you to experience. did they really invite you,🤭
There are only two players in the electric vehicle market: China and the United States. Tesla's competitor is BYD
If Chinese cars are garbage, they are nuclear waste.
OMG, who is this guy? He barely has a need for a razor, probably still has to ask to borrow his mom's mini van when he leaves his mother's basement. Somehow he is an automotive expert? Maybe this guy should go back to his basement gaming PC and do a few more laps, and just keep hoping a real girl will call him back, at least once in his short life. VinFast will be fine without his opinions.
Not fair to predict the future of any startup. But the car itself, you need to sit in it or test drive it before you can bash or praise it (there will be learning curve unlike driving traditional ICE). It is a very decent electric SUV.

EVs are driven by softwares and most new EVs that come out are beset with software glitzes. Vinfast cars are no exception but they endeavor to fix glitzes and issue updates. Vinfast welcome people pointing out shortcomings and bringing to their attention so they can serve customers better. Vinfast just brings out a new policy of paying customers for reporting any fault of their car. Customers can take their car to Vinfast Service Center to get new updates or just simply turn on WiFi of the car, get on the internet, contact Vinfast and they wil send updates over the air. There is the 8.7.8 update which extends the range of VF8 to 510km.
The VF8 is a safe vehicle, has ADAS which help the car keep within lane in case the driver got distracted or sleepy at the wheel, thus helping with safety. People will find driving VF8 is a safe and enjoyable experience. The faults you refer to pertain to the 1st batch of 999 VF8s City Edition and are just hearsays, those cars must have received updates by now. The way you describe the faults in a mocking attitude is deplorable, just like the way people used to sneer at Japan some decades ago. The way you describe a product from a developing country can be treated as prejudice, it's uncalled for. You are such a clown.
Maybe over there over here they're absolutely terrible
Nobody cheers for trash Vietnamese cars. Hyundai Motor Company is a world-class company that ranks third in global sales. Try reviewing Vietnamese cars on Top Gear. They will blow up your car with dynamite in public.
