Much better in black... spent a night last week painting my fiamma awning brackets mat black in the kitchen as it was raining outside. The mrs wasn’t too happy the next day when she was cleaning it off the worktops 🤣😂
Good work 👍🏼
Hahaha quality, I hope you had the windows open!! Is your van finished yet, we will have to do a van tour on it Dodge if you fancy it?
@@tubedarren yeah man... got a solar panel to put on it at some point but it’s all done. I’m up for it mate
@@MrDodgeeames once you’ve got the solar finished give me a shout bud 👌🏼😎
I love the look of gold rims on the groms. So if thats done, the gold forks make sense. On yours it looks much better black
Totally agree Jason 👌🏼
I understand and appreciate this vid. I haven't got my dream bike yet because it has gold forks.
Darren - great video. And I think the patience was well worth it. Since its been 2 years since the video, how are your fork's paint holding up? Also, even though you did it in matte black, would there have been a clear seal coat to spray as last coat? Don't know...just asking. My bike was stolen during the pandemic but police have found it. Based on damage by the thief, I am going to fill, sand, and repaint my frame covers and fairings....but there is a big part of me that wants to change the entire look and color scheme of the bike. So thinking of doing exactly what you did on your forks...and i will have to watch your video on spraying the additional steel uncovered parts at the base. Will like and subscribe on all
Best tip iv been told is to put your spray cans in very hot water ( NOT BOILING HOT ) as it thins the paint down an you get more coverage an more layers of paint still use the 2 cans as on here but where he has 4 coats mine will have about 8 or 9 coats an cos its thinner the paint will dry quicker too .
Warm the cans in very hot water for 2 or 3 mins . Keep taken them out give them a shake an plop back in the water
Everyone wants to replicate the iconic Ohlins forks. Hence gold.
it does look better. Not sure if the red break callipers would look better with the same treatment?
I love the red think it’s a nice contrast but yeah it would look great black too 👍
Brilliant...I am doing a rear shock on bike ...so same way really bit of time am patience without out taking it off ..if it was coming off that's it .I probably wouldn't get it back together again lol 👍
Would the spray not get onto the middle compression rod(usually silver) when you try spraying the coil?
it would have taken you less time to take the forks out than masking the entire bike. and would have made the painting process easier.
Thanks for clarifying 👍
My suspension has no retention, when I hit the front brakes it bottom's right out. Do I need to buy new forks? I have gold forks as well but there's no name. There is a stamp I think it reads MX V50 100 or something like that.
Won't it chip as the forks compress
Good job dude! :)
Cheers Robert 👍
Done a really great job Darren 👍🏻
Hey man cheers 😄👍
I love the gold because my pop of color is gold for my red cbr. For some reason they made the new forks black and I want the gold one😅
Prefer the black looks so much smarter
How have these held up after time?
Not sure, sold the bike a couple years back 😂😂
@@tubedarren Damn! I’m going to spray my forks on my grom as well doing your exact idea, fingers crossed I do a good job
Docati Bikes always comes with Bright Red with Gold Shocks & Its one of the best looking Bike Designs. Gold Shocks actually kinda look cooler.
But all the high end Ducati Bikes like the Superleggeras come with Black FGRT Ohlins forks !!!
I hate the GOLDEN forks. They should kept it as an optional feature.
That looks ace!
Cheers 🍻 👍
24k miles on my grom and still no chips on gold fork the roads must be bad where you are man
Yeah looks sweet now mate loads better:)
Thanks Richard you’ll be doing yours next?😅
Off road tyres next for me :) I got a supermoto mudguard to go on :)
@@Badboyrich1982 green laning mate?
Just go anywhere:) an I like the swamper look:)
For how long the paint stays?
12 hours 😆 no to be honest it depends how many coats you do! It’s never going to be perfect but was better than gold
Stealth grom 🤘😂
Yessss you know that 👌🏼😂😎
Good job but I will remove my forks before painting
Why on earth would you paint those black? Gold forks the the best
I hate gold on 🍴
Silver spoon is better 😉
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sent you a pic on Insta mate you have inspired me:)
