After jump school I was assigned to a pathfinder company where my "cherry jump", first jump out of jump school, was a water jump from a Blackhawk. First water jump and first chopper jump at the same time! My comrades made me do a ton push ups before and after and someone had made a shark fin from cardboard and taped it to the top of my helmet (sky shark, a newbie who doesn't yet know how to steer a chute). I was under the misunderstanding that the only parachute regiment was "Een Valskerm Battalion" in the SADF. This one says 44 Parachute Regiment. So is there two parachute operations in Bloemfontein?
Hi, the Battalion falls under the hierarchy of the Regiment. Under the regiment is also the reserve force units as well as the air supply etc. It is the same hierarchy as a section under a platoon, as a company, as a battalion, etc
