  • In this video I'll take you along and show you how I cleaned my MAF sensor on my 2004 Ford Ranger 3.0L. This is a very simple procedure that involves taking the MAF sensor out and spraying MAF sensor cleaner into the sensor to clean the parts inside.
    Note: ONLY MAF sensor cleaner should be used to clean a MAF sensor. Consult your parts pro if you have any question about what MAF sensor cleaner is. Be sure to read the instructions on the can before using. Only use the product you purchase as directed by the manufacturer of that product. You should not have to spray an inordinate amount of MAF sensor cleaner on your MAF sensor in order to clean it. (I never really use any more that the amount I used in the video).

    Thanks for the video. I like the close-up detail of the undershot of the sensor connector and the air cleaner clips. A couple of my own tips: 1) Don't spray the cleaner over the engine. Do it away from the truck. 2) Don't tap out the air filter near the clean sensor. It might get contaminated. Set the sensor in a clean area and allow it to dry. 3) Replace that dirty air filter.

    My 2008 Ford Ranger completely stalled out. Was running fine.. stopped to get a coffee, started it back up, drove for about 2 minutes and stalled.
    I would start it, it would start and then immediately stall.
    Root cause was my MAF sensor (of course I didn't know that). Seems like had I diagnosed thar myself cleaning or even replacing that MAF sensor would have e been a breeze. Good video here and very straight forward. Thank you!

    I just got charged $235.00 by my local mechanic for this job on my 2003 Ford Ranger! My truck had a rough idle and would die sometimes at intersections. Very good video by the way! I don't care that I got ripped off to some extent because I've got a 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 that I'm picking up tomorrow. AND it's paid for!

    • @BarboursAutoHelp
      @BarboursAutoHelp  Před 2 lety +1

      Cool! What makes you think they ripped you off? Diagnostics can be very costly due to their nature. $235 isn't astronomical for diagnostics and repair.

    Great video Thanks for taking the time to film this I didn't realize that a little bee could affect the sensor like that I just bought a 94 ranger splash 3.0 53k original miles on it ,It has a mis and no power I replaced the fuel pump and filter plugs wires Rotor & cap still no power same mis so Im going to try this I did notice on the coil thats in front of the Distributor there is a Silver Condenser looking thing attached to the top of the coil, there are no wires attached to it they must have been cut or broke off ,And there is a wire on the coil Harness with a connector after the connector the wire is cut and I don't know where it goes

    I have a 2005 Ford ranger. Been having problems with check engine light coming on and losing power in the engine. Just had the catalytic converter replaced because they thought it was clogged. When I googled the issue the air flow sensor is what came up in the description and I decided to look it up on CZcams in this video is the first one that I came upon. Very helpful I'm wondering if this was the issue the whole time I have not had a chance to work on the truck yet but I am going to try this.
