  • A small job powder coating some motorcycle parts. These are the parts that seen a lot of wear and paint rubbing off. Powder coating is more durable than liquid paint so it will last longer. And since I have this setup at home, I can powder coat these small parts as often as required.

    Hello my friend
I have a question that confused me
One of the conditions for powder coating is that the object to be painted is a conductor of electricity, but I saw on CZcams that there are those who paint objects that do not conduct electricity, such as wood MDF.
    How can this be?
Accept the utmost respect and appreciation

Hi. I never heard or seen about powder coating wood or mdf. The powder coating needs to be melted or cured in the oven for about 200 deg C. Wood material will probably burn. And besides, wood is porous, when heated moisture and gasses on it will leach out and push the still melted paint off. If there is a way to powder coat wood, that is probably a new technology I have never heard off. Having that said, powder coating is done on other nonmetallic materials such as glass and porcelain. They will heat the items in the oven and while still hot, they will spray the powder. The powder stick to the surface because it immediately melts and not because of electrostatic charge.
