The Bruins completely dominated the Avs. They did what they do best to create scoring chances: playing defense. Their disciplined forechecking made the Avs squirm. Puck management has been an underrated issue with the Avalanche. They seem to be allergic to clearing the puck with their obsession for possession. Pastrank's one timer goal was a set play by Bruce Cassidy. The minute Bergeron, who leads the league with 63.2 FOW% , won the face off, Hall circled around to ditch Helm in order to receive the pass from Carlo. Helm charges towards Carlo as if he was a bull seeing red. Meanwhile, MacDermid is just circling around the ice randomly and doesn't bother to cover Pastrnak. Hall sends it over to Pastrnak for a wide open one timer. Helm and MacDermid were responsible for letting this play executed to perfection. Bednar is also responsible for this loss due to adjusting the 3rd and 4th line poorly. This was an overdue wake up call for the Avs as they need to understand that they can't be complacent with their defensive efforts. I have said this when the Avs lost to the Stars in their first meeting. A powerful offense cannot overcome a great defense. Sakic knows this because he was spotted in the press box between the Habs and Islanders yesterday to scout a possible defensemen or more specifically an Islander winger named Cal Clutterbuck who is known for his physical play and defense.

You cant expect any team to just always win. Tough losses have to be administered. It's healthy. It wakes up the team, exposes weaknesses, and humbles you from complacency. I'm obviously an Avs fan but Bruins just did everything right today. Avs clearly had too much to drink Sunday night and weren't ready for this morning game. I'm not worried in the slightest. I honestly don't wsnt the presidents trophy curse anyway tbh. Hopefully the Avs had their tough to swallow pill and press on. Good job Bruins. Well deserved.

Actually Darcy has been killing it lately. If you watch closely a lot of this falls on our highly lacking defense which us Avs fans are very fully aware of. They never support DK. Just leave him to fend off 3 guys alone. If we can lock in our defense they will be blasting through the playoffs.
