If being used for cosplay I'd recommend gluing some metal weights in the battery compartment and barrel so add some heft. This will make it sit more realistically in a holster.
Excellent tip, thank you for sharing :-)
This!…👆🏼 What @1701spacecadet said!…👆🏼
It's what I did, and it really helped! 🤓👍🏻
I had the original black plastick toy with double button sound effect activation back in the late 70's. Wish I still Had it. May try this. Thank you.
Amazing work. When you start detailing with the silver paint it starts to come to life right before your eyes.
Hands down this is THE best tute for painting this prop.
That was one of the coolest builds I've seen in a while - thanks!!!!
Great work, as usual. Really like the use of the graphite powder. Very convincing finish. Thanks for another fantastic video,
Can't thank you enough for these! Did my E-11 as per your video and am finishing up the DL-44. Not quite as perfect as yours, but much better than I could have done without the tutorials! Thanks!
Spectacular! I finished mine up yesterday, having thought I'd come up with this on my own... HA! Your attention to detail is delightful. I am going to go back in and use a few of your techniques on mine--I thought I was finished! Thanks!
god I love these videos! they combine my two fave things. star wars and prop making
I'm about to start working on this project myself, found your video very helpful, cheers Simon
Thanks for the great advice! My sons and I are going to practice the techniques we learned from you on some cheaper toy guns until we are ready to make some sweet props!
Excellent! Have fun with your boys on this project! Turn those cheapo toys into a force to be reckoned with! :-)
That was amazing work. Good job.
Great Tut- That's a brilliant idea with the graphite.
Great Tutorial - I'm about to start mine - but I took all the orange off to plastic pasts - it comes apart pretty easy - I usually have trouble getting between the creases with paint cans - so I do the extra step of breaking it all down.
Nice prop work, from one fellow Star Wars fan to another. "Most impressive!"
Mine turned out so awesome! Thanks for the tutorial. The only problem I had was getting that soot to stay on the nozzle from that weathering kit. It still looks amazing though.
That was amazing!
Amazing detail
These videos are so amazing, I wish I could figure out how to do these on my own
Loved the graphite tip.
Incredible... You're an artist :D
nossa que excelente trabalho ! ficou muito linda
Fantastic looking gun mate!!
IMPRESSIVE!!
Great video totally gonna do this for Halloween
Looks amazing instant like and sub!
Nice gun metal method👍👍
Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!
wow....great job. Looks like I have another project. :)
Could you teach us how to make an led blade for your sabers? It would really make them look amazing, thanks
A tip for anyone who has a hard time thinning paints. I find a general recipe of 1 part paint and 2 parts thinner works. It works well for me as a general rule. I’m not a milk drinker so the milk consistency never really works well for me lol.
Spectacular job! Do you have a video on your T-21 Blaster? I would love to see that as well! I watched your DLT-19 DIY and that was amazing! Thank you for posting this. As a certified distracted geek, I love learning how to do projects like this. Especially for my distracted mini-geek. Thanks again!
Hello, thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment :-) I don't have a video of my T-21 build...I do have a high-level description of my build on my blog. I used templates from "Pandatrooper" and followed most of his instructions. The deviations I made from his build are what's in my blog entry. You can find it here: happytrooper.com/?p=5045
nice prop
How about adding a reticule to the back part of the scope?
Oh man, could you do a T-21 vid? Yours looks amazing!!!
your like the bob ross of stormtroopers^_^
HAHAHA...best comment ever. I LOVE Bob Ross. Thank you for the kind words...you made my day.
your welcome keep up the good work
HappyTrooper my dad and i build my cosplay this year i plan to be Gov.Pryce from star wars rebels i want to look so accruate that my local 501st imperial garrioson will ask me to join

@@user-ro8jr9zr2s what?
oh man now we just need the holster and belt for this.
There is one online for around 85.00 USD that fits the Rubies version of the blaster. I ended up ordering one for my smuggler cosplay but haven't received it yet. I will most likely end up doing a review of it once I receive and try it out.
could bondo also be used for the seams? and is there multiple types of bond? my container does not mention putty.
very good video man. I saw one similary to your video but more slopy
I need someone like you in my neighborhood..no way am I going to do all of this myself..
Cool
This video is great and I'm very interested in buying this gun and painting it up like you did. 1 question I have, the scope appears to be completely built into the gun unlike the real one in the movies, did you try to cut any gap or just left it they way it is? I'm concerned when I put the gun in the holster it will get hung up on the scope and I'm not sure if that will be acceptable for costume standards as well. Thanks in advance for your input.
Hello, unfortunately, the scope is attached to the main body of the gun, there is no separation. This does make it less screen-accurate. I think it would take some creative cutting and filling to make it look seperated :( I left it connected to the body, as is. I use this as a display piece on my wall and also as a prop in short films, so I cannot speak on how it would fit in a holster.
Cheap, Chinese dental instruments from eBay are perfect for detailing work, and they last for ages.
die ide ist genial
I love this...
How bout I just buy one from you?
Does the scope present any issues when holstered?
Let's just add-in a Happy little Trooper over here..!
you should try rub n buff instead of dry brushing
All of your videos are awesome my only complaint is that you don't spend much time showing off the finished product. Please show more pics of the finished product you deserve to brag😉👍👍
cosplaychris did a good Job but you my friend you are something else lol
do another homemade lightsaber me and my dad have made all three
Thanks for watching! Hope you and your Dad had fun making those sabers! The next vid will be another saber build :-)
+HappyTrooperDotCom ok thanks
+HappyTrooperDotCom love your videos
+HappyTrooperDotCom we also made your most recent lightsaber for my friends b-day
Thanks Magicpants 04, you've brought a big smile to this trooper's face :-) Thank you for the kind words.

I bought one on Etsy and it was $78.00 and it does not fire? does this process ruin the firing, i did replace the batteries
No, it should not ruin the firing. In my video, I seal the battery compartment. This would obviously stop sound effects from being produced. If you don't seal the battery compartment, you can still swap out batteries, but, you can see that it is a battery compartment. I was going for looks as this is a prop weapon for display purposes only. I'm sorry that your prop doesn't have the sound effect :(
ya,,, i can open the batteries and i have changed them,,, the electronics are still there... i'm thinking he spray painted the speaker and killed it...
Hey! I thought dl44’s were banned by from the imperial legion... or was that legends idk
C.A.K. Comedy It’s assumed in both Legends & the New Canon that the Galactic Empire would ban the DL-44 due to is being able to pierce through Imperial Stormtrooper armor.
I would like this to be a gift for my little nephew. Can you do this and keep the sound it makes?
Absolutely. In fact, you will cut off a few of the steps to do this. Don't seal the battery box with filler/putty. Leave it open so that your nephew can swap out batteries when needed. Also, its your call on whether or not to remove the front cover on the muzzle. It does act as a sort of protection, the speaker is right behind it, so maybe you'll want to leave that part on. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for watching and good luck on your project, your nephew will love it!
HappyTrooper thank you! Would drilling holes also possibly hurt the sound too? Mine is in the mail :-)
Drilling the holes on the side won't hurt the little speaker inside. It is tucked back inside the main barrel. There isn't anything behind those holes on the side, so you will be safe to drill.
Do a scout pistol
Great idea! I will put it on my list. I have to do a Fett blaster, a Jawa blaster, and a scout pistol. Thanks! :-)
School thanks and why dose your t21 video still exist because I looked on your playlists and it wasn't there and are you in the 501st you should be
Han lost his blaster to Vader in ESB. How did he regain it for ROTJ
His dl-44 blaster wasn't special in any way. It was just a heavy blaster commonly found on the black market.
He likely took another one off of one of Jabba's goons or was given one by somebody in the Rebellion. Like Uhuwek said, his DL-44 wasn't special in any way. The blaster is a common weapon, and not exclusive to him.
Amanda White Could have been given to Fett to take to Jabba, or he just stole another one from somewhere, luke used a DL44 variant so in the star wars universe they're fairly common
what is the date for the next saber build
Maybe in November. I have 2 female Star Wars fans at home. Just finished a Rey costume & staff (as you noticed). Next on the workbench is a Jawa costume. We just started the mask and light-up eyes. Need to sew the robes and stuff over the next few days. I'm hoping to get back into prop movies in a few weeks :-)
That sounds awesome thank you again for the awesome star wars props my friend really loved his and I just asked my dad and he said we will look into Rey's staff for my sister's birthday
I'm a huge star wars fan at my house aswel and I am gonna make a video on the 2 lightsabers I made from your channel if you want to see them
Yes, I would love to see them, please tag me once you post them
ok will do
I wish my family had the time and money to do this project 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
there is a bit of a buy-in price if you are not already in the hobby.
i added up all the items with Amazon links listed in the description except the airbrush (no several paints and the sandpaper are also not included) and it comes to $200.
spend that and you will have the supplies to paint and finish dozens of cheap toy guns, but to many familyes, $200 on non-essentials is an expense that needs serious thaught and planning.
At that point just get a Denix Mauser replica and make an all metal one. For around a hundred dollars more than that $200 price point, you’ll have an almost 1:1 all metal replica. Trust me, it’ll be way better than any plastic blaster. For the metal one just ask a semi known smuggler “she’s got it where it counts, kid.”
They should make this a real toy for kids but it will be hard work
Cosplay Chris
I'm italian but I like CZcams
You should green screen some tatooine from the SWTOR MMO.
Cosplay Chris just did this before you
Can you be challenged to make count Dooku light saber 🙄
I thought you made it from scratch! 😐
Respirator OR ventilation? No! Respirator AND ventilation. Phenolic compounds (i.e. Bondo, Fiberglass resin, polyester resins) aren't something to mess with. Organ damage and cancer are the most common side effects.
in imperial law dl-44 is illegal
