I thought the thumbnail was clickbait, but it turns out that this is just an amazing prop tutorial! I'm subscribing, and I may make one of these myself!
I know this is not screen accurate, but I'm not complaining. This is the nicest PVC/Hardware Store Lightsaber I have ever seen! I will definitely be following your tutorial to make my own, thanks HappyTrooper!
Zedrick were u successful in making it¿
I mean it’s pretty screen accurate compared to buying A $300 ultra saber that don’t make them exactly like the ones in the movie. And the Disney ones are cool but they are not bright or loud. So this is perfect imo especially for making a film which is what I will be doing
It honestly doesnt matter if it is not, i mean its close enough and well its really the effort of making it yourself that counts the most.
He always makes quality props
happy trooper can you make an Obi-Wan style light Saber with parts from a home improvement store
YES!!!! That would be legit!!!
when this build was finished i smiled thankyou happytrooper for putting a smile on my face
i friggin love the price to quality ratio here, it looks ready for close-up shots! 11/10, amazing work
We featured this video in our Star Wars episode of 'DIY Top 5', check it out!
Thanks for promoting my video, much appreciated! Sub'd!
Bro your enjoyable to listen to. Kind, curtious and very informative. I'm catching this video 5yrs after it's posted but it's awesome. If your still dropping videos I hope your style hasn't changed.
Is anyone else one of those people that watch hours of diy videos never having any intent on doing any of them
At first, I didn't have that intent, but I thought I would would try to do one.
I just watch them to get ideas for when I eventually do my own with my own design
Wtf no entiendo ni mier..
I’m doing this to research making hits
This is the worst video I have ever seen.
Perfect static prop. Like to see a electronics and blade friendly dueling version.
The trick with the graphite is intriguing, I've always thought that you couldn't get a pvc hilt to look like metal no matter what you try--thanks for proving me wrong.
Hello Katie, thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I'm now a believer in this method. I saw someone make a very convincing plastic old west rifle on therpf.com (prop forum) using graphite powder. I gave it a try and I really like: 1) how easy it is to do and 2) how convincing it looks. As you probably know, its tough to get a realistic metallic finish with spray cans. Airbrush is a different story. For ease of use, and for looks, graphite powder is great for props!
That looks excellent! No sloppy short cuts, just some really good work.
Just used this tutorial to make my own lightsaber hilt! Honestly the patterns and this whole tutorial were so helpful. I had to make a few adjustments just because of the availability of parts at my local stores, but it worked so well! I'm adding actual blades onto my saber as well to add to the awesomeness. But anyway, amazing tutorial! Thanks for posting it!
Great project to do with your little kids that like to cosplay and go out on Halloween and trick or treat ad Kylo Ren. Although it isn't exactly like the movie version it is close and your little kid will love it especially if you both make it together. Nice job.
You should do this for all the main character lightsabers
Great instruction! I made a single blade variant for my TLJ opening costume. Turned out great. Thanks for making these. Keep up the good work!
Amazing presentation. Clear instructions and the end product looks killer!
Your ingenuity is astounding! Bravo, my good trooper!
Very cool. Well done, I really like your step by step process.
This really reminds me of a webpage called "Lightsabers from the Big Yellow Box". That webpage is now 20 years old (Tripod Domain!) and reminds me when I was a Kid trying to build my own Lightsaber.
Great Channel!
Dammit, now I want to see Adam Driver marching into Home Depot.
Hey man. I appreciate you doing these videos. I also appreciate your step by step instructions. These make a perfect gift for my little brother. He's an up and coming Star Wars fan boy like myself
Once again your video is super awesome and inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing how you build this and other props. This turned out really awesome. Look forward to more video's in the future.
This is the channel I'm looking for.
Great job. Great videos. I would love to see you take a shot at Luke's lightsaber from Return of the Jedi.
Amazing build and great step by step instructions.
I've been waiting for this HappyTrooper. Thank you.
This video is so cool I love all the VFX shots even though there simple
I lvoe that these tutorials show your step by step process. Too many prop tutorials on youtube edit too much to stay condensed but in turn lose its information. 10/10 will make.
great instructions not rushed at all. Well done.
This was so cool! You did an amazing job! Well done!
I only now discovered your channel and you put thousands of creators to shame :o
Looks so cool, amazing job! Just need the burnt metal effect
i smiled more than 20 times cuz of that video and ow it's edited , really appreciate the effort that was put in it
This is an amazing video. Started to get parts and build. Going to insert blade/ LED from another video and hopefully sound if I can afford it. Thanks.. great ideas!! Good job sir!!

Thank you for such an easy to follow video for a beginner maker like myself! I'm going to make this Kylo Ren prop hilt for my nephew for Christmas, now I just need to find an easy to follow idea for my niece's gift, lol! Instant like, follow and now subscriber!

Great video and very clear instructions
You have mad skills my friend,...
Hey @Happytrooper I wanted to say thank you. I used this video to make a Kylo’s lightsaber for my friend. It turned out really good!
That looks Amazing. Thank You, will be trying it.
This looks really great for a roughly $40 build! it looks like it would be easy to install a combat blade as well!
this is awesome you need to be so much more popular
Yo your vids are great and I appreciate them. You’ve inspired me, thank you. Try a yoda and/or obi wan style lightsaber
Nice job and I like the storm trooper suit
Wow that looks amazing
When you got started and I saw PVC I was thinking "oh god, not another cheap model" turns out looking really good. With enough inspiration any light saber can be built with this technique and look fairly good.
Wow! You sir, are a master of your craft. This is an excellent step-by-step tutorial video on building an outstanding looking hilt piece; you seem to have thought of every aspect of the build and included it in your guide. Here is a Jabba-sized thumbs up and may the Force be with you .............. always. :-D
Thank you for the very kind words Dude Ster! I appreciate it, thank you for watching. MTFBWY as well my friend!
This is the best Kylo Ren lightsaber hilt tutorial there is!

these videos are great, they are easily done, with relatively cheap and accessible tools and material, could you please take a shot at a DLT-19 or a A280C, thanks!

I love Happy Trooper!
FULL SIZE R2D2 DRUID MAKING IN METAL PARTS!
that's a great hilt but can you fit a rod in there for fx tracking? im a film student and even the movies had a rod in the centre of their props to track the actual fx
Great video! Please do one for Darth nihilus!
outstanding job. was the graphite the same stuff locksmiths use to lube locks. I ask because that's the only kind I know. Thanks
Hello, thank you for watching, and for the nice comment. It is my understanding that locksmith graphite and artists graphite is the same thing. Graphite :-) I purchased a jar from Amazon for 12$ an it goes a LONG way. I have used it for: a Tusken Sniper scope, this hilt, Han Solo blaster, Princess Leia blaster, and a scratch-built T-21. I still have well over 3/4 of the jar left. If you get some graphite for prop weathering, I recommend getting a jar like this amzn.to/2ingBvE The little locksmith tubes may not have enough? Good luck on your build!
Any tips on added the red blades? Really keen on making this
great tutorial
One trick you can do to get blades is before you put in the conduit, drill a hole in the middle. Since the conduit is 1/2 inch, try making the holes big enough to fit a 1/4 wooden dowel or a PVC pipe. As far as the cross blades (or exhaust ports), either edit that in post or get pipe or dowels short enough to stick out. The only part that maybe difficult would be blade retention so that when you're dueling it won't fly out. Also, blade retention on this design might not make it as aesthetically pleasing.
Brandon...I wish I looked like you....how can we build this hilt with a light bar blade thingy?? Awesome job
Really cool vid, did he take the template down or something though? I can't find it anywhere.
wow, beautiful
Nice job...!!!!!!
This is informative a.f. 10/10
this is sick
Can you fit the cross guard blades inside the hilt?
Awesome videos! Any chance you could make a Galen Marek/Starkiller lightsaber From The Force Unleashed? He’s my favorite character! Thank you!
This is really clever but erm what if i dont have a home depot where i live? Would B&Q or Wickes have the same items?
Most impressive
How many rotations of friction/electrical tape did you used?
Please Happy Trooper, make an Obi-Wan style lightsaber!
It looks like there was a lot of paint transfer on your hands while you were assembling your hilt. Am I mistaken? If not, what can we do to correct that? And if I am, my bad, I’m not trying to throw shade. I’m just curious. Great build, thanks for sharing!
Everyday I pray to god that one day there will be a happy trooper graflex lightsaber tutorial........
Is there a good clip/mount I can use to clip it to a belt?
Does anyone else get almost a prop making ASMR vibe from this
What’s the width of the holes for the blades so I can buy circle poles to put in it
