Excellent! A friend had introduced me to MGMT a long time ago, and was disappointed when I heard the cleaned up version (or some might say better produced) on the radio. Didn't care for the sharper snare drum, also lost the charming windows 95 tada trumpet during the bridge/breakdown. Thanks for keeping the video through the years!
The pitch is lower on the radio version. I was really used to this version so it sounded weird and dark to me. In hindsight I feel like the radio version is a lot more coherent with the rest of the album. Still something charming about that twee 2000s synth pop sound.
@ozolexil Chorus/Flanger/Echo Box Used extremely with lots of backing voices can make you think it's autotune, but it's not, Voices when stacked can cause some phasing or natural choruses effect which is what is making you think that it's auto-tune. :)
If you think lo-fi is based on the budget, then you don't know much about music at all. That is like saying Duchamp only had enough of a budget for a shovel, that is why he used one. Please stop making a fool of yourself by using words like "Hipsters". Hipsters are a fashion statement and a fad, not a school of thought.
I also do not see how any of this is sung terribly. I like it a lot, as well as their final version, but there is something I love about unedited vocals. That dude is a moron.
I love every version of this song!
so this is the oldest version.
damn i was kinda expecting it to show up on congratulations
there all so different its pretty cool. i like the Time to Pretend EP one the best tho
Just found out about this version, awesome!
There is also about 4 versions to electric feel. 2006 demo
Metanoia there are 3. 2 from the eps and 1 from the album
They were called The Management at the time. This reminds me of Wesleyan circa 2004. 20 years and a lifetime ago.
You are the scapegoat to all my bad decisions.
their new album is pretty good too
thank you! i have been looking everywhere for this version!
This version seems more real compared to the other versions. I really love it :)

Idk why but this song reminds me of my childhood
Well the first line is "You were a child"
Cause the adults in your childhood were monsters
It's called Kids...
Where the hell did these guys come from?!?!? They are just plain fantastic
this is beautiful... :)
@galitm yeahh, like it really shows a different side of them! i like it!

@Alise218 no ben sings too. everyone excludes him
There's nowhere to purchase/ download this. ;_;
lol capitalization of every word go!
Way better than the studio edit. Auto-tune is really destroying music.

this was lo fi based on the budget.
Anyone here cause of mike and Steve in 2021?
who's here from Blank Named Guy?
Hipsters: This is so real and raw. prefer this version
REAL music lover: They made it sound great on a limited budget. Sounds cool
"REAL music lover" is such a hipster thing to say
How about just "wow, this version of the song sounds great as well"
How about: I used to blast this in my car before time to pretend dropped, after that they became so mainstream.
How about: Who cares about stupid shit like all this anyway? Just enjoy it
@@sp0_oky1how about you’re old hahaa
this version rapes the origional. honestly, these guys are my heroes.
