My husbands uncle passed earlier this year at 84. I kid you not, he didn’t have one single wrinkle and he was not fat. His skin was of a 40 year old easily. He believed in herbs.

You are so right! We've lost so much important knowledge. Many of us half her age would drop dead if we worked like she does. BUT!!!! If I can say ANYTHING good about the state of our country right now, it's that so many people are learning the old ways again. I wish we would have started years ago but we didn't and now we'll need to work even harder. This beautiful lady is such an inspiration!

So lovely! She and her son were gracious to share their time and land with you (and us). The house is incredible. The farm, spring house and graveyard, along with Sarah and her sons narrative kept my attention all the way until the end without thinking about seeing inside the house. What an amazing home to spend a life in. I hope you were able to go inside for a look around. Thank you for documenting their beautiful place.

My great grandmother was from Appalachia. She came to Indiana in a covered wagon as one of the early settlers. Every year she had a large garden, a hog , and her homestead that she ran until she died at age 101 in 1971. I spent one wonderful summer with her when I was a kid. I am old now, but I have sweet memories of Grandma Abner.

Mrs. Sarah Russell moved to the farm the year I was born. She had an amazing roll model in Ahletta, ( lover her name) her mother in law. Imagine cooking for the hands of a 500 acre farm. That tractor looks much like one belonging to my grandfather. My father even used it to plow snow. Grandpa had lots of land. I loved Mrs. Sarah's interesting history told during the interview. I was always fascinated by the amazing appalachian people. They are so warm and welcoming. They also have faith, talent, the will and know how to get things done. Much respect from a New Englander.

She’s amazing! Is that her grandson or son in the cemetery and spring house? Roger I guess.
    So have you gone back?
Where the video of the other house where the kinks is also built that you were speaking of? I’ll have to try to find that video.

Thank you so much for doing this interview, and I'm so glad I heard about this channel from the Appalachian American. My wife and I recently moved from this area, for a job in a different state, and we miss it everyday.
I used to drive by this lady and see her outside working on her yard/garden ALL the time! She truly is amazing, and it was one of my regrets to never stop by and talk to her, so i am very glad you made this.
If you ever want to interview another person in the area, Toppy Russell would be a good one. He lives right across the road from this house up the hill. I used to talk to him a good amount down there, and he has a very extensive knowledge of the Valley area.

I just found your channel and subscribed this weekend. I love it. I’m from Southeastern Kentucky, Knox County and my husband was raised in Claiborne County, and Speedwell was his running around area. This has been so interesting. This is a place we’ve seen and thought was so fascinating for years. My husband’s teacher in high school was Mrs. Russell that lived across the road down down from this house. We are loving the videos!

I live in Pike County, Ohio. in the western part of our county is a spring on State owned property. This was where a John Kincaid settled and built a cabin in the early 1800's. Eventually my great grandmother owned this property in the early 1900's. Most of this property was sold to the State of Ohio. it is now the location of the state operated Kincaid Fish Hatchery and the Pike State Forest headquarters. My great grandmother lived in the Kincaid house, just across the road from the spring, until shortly before her passing in 1958. I remember my uncle showing me the Kincaid cemetery just above the spring. I wonder if these Kincaids are related the the family mentioned in this video.
