    History
Dunagan’s Store is a charming old-fashioned country store that has been operating since the late 1920s. It can be found across from the Mill Springs Mill Park and the Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument’s Brown-Lanier House. In 1935, the store was moved 100 yards to its current location using mule power. Back in the day, the store carried almost everything the Mill Springs community might need and even served as the Mill Springs Post Office. Despite the changing times, the store’s overall appearance has remained the same. Since the 1920s, the store has been locally owned and operated. The current owner, Carolyn Boston Speers, is a Mill Springs native who has worked hard, along with her son, to preserve the store’s heritage. With their efforts, they have successfully recreated the welcoming atmosphere that Everette Dunagan, the previous owner, extended to the community.

I like Eddie. If it wasn’t for him that store would probably not exist. He’s a good narrator of the stores past history. Thanks Eddie. Thanks John for bringing this store to your channel. Tell Eddie to keep it up….

That young man certainly knows a lot of the history of the store.
It would freak me out feeling the building sway 2 or 3 inches in the wind. It's amazing those old buildings are still in operation. That alone is outstanding.
    Thumbs up 👍

I went back to my roots with this video. My grandfather owned a country store before his passing in 1951, I actually took naps inside the candy counter! After his passing, the building was sold and moved about a mile down the road and converted into a home. I am 75 and the house is still being lived in today. I love the old stories.

Now that’s a store with history! Just seeing the photos of the men hanging around the front brings back memories of going to the barber shop and listening to the men talk and kid each other! If you talked too much you for sure got a stern warning and it wasn’t necessarily your dad either. Thanks for sharing 👍😎🤠🥰

Old "pop marbles" in and around 1953, I went into an old grocery store with dad - no money, but when I left, I had a candy bar in my pocket. When we got home with bread maybe cheese, as I got over the candy bar fell out - My dad saw it- and- said- stay where you are, and I will be right back. (Long wait) The car backed out and we drove back to the store - then he said take that candy back to the store owner tell him what you did, and I will ask him later what you said. Yes, I got it wright! Yes, I then learned about stealing. That was in Farmington Arkansas. You know that was good for me thanking back, but hard lesson.
    Dictionary noun

This place is across the river from where my dad’s people lived on White Oak Creek near Nancy. Seven generations since coming out of Pittsylvania County VA. My great great grandfather was in the 19th KY Infantry, but was not at the Mill Springs battle. He served in the Red River Campaign in Louisiana, and was captured at the Battle of Mansfield Crossing, near Shreveport.

I love watching your ole Kentucky home type vlogs. My husband was born in a small town in Ky: Clarkson. And we lived a while in the town next door: Leitchfield. Back in the 1960’s - pure country, farm style living then. Country store stop for lunch: white bread with a slice of fresh cut of bologna. You bring back a simple life of memories when I watch these, John. TY. Barbara.

Another winner john, these places are America as I remember it. I remember the Janitor at the Greensfork School (all 12 grade) used something like that to sweep the hallways and steps he would sprinkle it down and wait a few minutes then start sweeping. It seemed oily but was not slick or sticky. Great find and the proprietor was very thorough in his narrative. Thank you and him for sharing this historical treasure.
