- After showing off the new lights, I wanted to try an experiment and see exactly how lighting changes paint color on gray walls. I went out and purchased a single led can light that is adjustable, just so that I can test this out and know exactly what color light I want in all my can lights throughout the house.

Lighting makes such a big difference. I had a older house that I had updated with tubular skylights with lights also installed in a long narrow hallway, mud room and a formal room area that had a fireplace but no windows( which I also had 2 new windows and French doors with the blinds between the glass)…not only lifted the gloomy dark area but I got to add lots of plants to those rooms and I felt like I got a new home with those upgrades. My family thought I was crazy until they saw it after all completed…total renovation, floors, carpets bathrooms gutted, walls taken out. I have enjoyed watching your process on your new build.
I'd love to put some of those tubular sky lights in. I've been talking about them with Shellie and doing lots of research. There's no down side, they don't leak, and they provide tons of natural light. I could put one in every room, lol.
Wow the difference is incredible, the 2700k made your walls look like builder beige, definitely like the more natural light!

If you don’t get a no cost switch out, maybe use the yellow lights outdoors where the yellow is more useful.
We're going to keep the yellow lights outdoors. They look really nice out there at night.

I think I paid around 10 bucks for this new light. The others were similar. You can buy them as a multi-pack and get better deals.

I noticed the new bulb had a quick connect, is the connection compatible with the wiring inside ceiling?
They all come that way and are interchangeable. There’s a socket on the other end that screws into the top of the can.
It looks great with the light bulb swap.
We sure are happy with it.

What if you would use grow lights in every room of your house? That would mean you can keep your plants and cuttings indoors. lol. Double benefit

My apartment has boring dull gray walls and with one harshing lighting the top corners of walls are still dark a lot of corner and parts of my wall especially all corners have dark shadows from the one harsh light not eliminating the whole room .. need go target find something
A lamp would fix the dark corners

My lights did not have the covers or the rings so they looked bad, but those lights made them look finished out
First time we’ve ever had can lights and I’m a fan.
Good demonstration. Lighting temperature/ color can make a huge difference and make or break a house IMO. Some rooms and some areas in the house and rooms may look better with a different K depending on what you’re looking for and many people don’t understand this or don’t even think to take it into account.
Makes all the difference in the world.

I’m amazed at how much difference a little change like that makes. Now that I know firsthand exactly what I like, I can take that info to the electrician.

I agree that the first light is way too yellow. I also know that I do not enjoy daylight white lighting. It's too institutional IMHO. I think you've found a happy medium.

I've been at 5k for years now, after being subjected to orange lights for over 40 years.
Haha, I get it. I’ve got 5k lights all over my current house but for some reason they make it feel too blue in the new house. I really like the 4k in here.

Yellow light is the only way. Our eyes are not meant for white or blue light it causes migraines & sensitivity. It is also a terrible color for visible light. Our eyes like Amber.
I've got a completely different experience over here. The yellow lights make my eyes strain to see.
@@MikeKincaid79 interesting. I wonder if it has something to do with exposure. Have you always had white/ blue hue lighting in your home? I grew up in the 90’s where everything around me was amber, and the new home lights, street lights, and car lights keep me inside at night due to the strain it causes. Ny eyes feel the least strained in amber or red lighting. This would make a good experiment video
I grew up in the 80s with the same yellow incandescent bulbs. I do currently have 5000k bulbs in the mobile home I'm currently in but they look a little cold and blue. I really like the 4000k color. Seems to give a true hue to the colors in the house.@@Floridamancan

Mike, what a fantastic idea to purchase one adjustable LED light so you and Shelley could pick the lighting that both of you like. I never knew that you could buy adjustable can lights. Anyway, the daylight bulbs are the lights I've purchased, and according to the package they are rated at 5,000K (I just checked), however, I don't have a package for the non-adjustable daylight can lights, so I'm guessing they are also 5,000 K. There definitely is a difference between the two light bulbs Im not a fan of bright light but I have to say the 4000 lighting is more realistic of daylight You say it can go to 6500 and is almost blue What I'm wondering is 6500 like a grow light for plants similar to a fluorescent grow bulb? 🇨🇦🦩
It would definitely be good lighting for plants. Not sure if they’re powerful enough to provide enough light. They only use around 10 watts.
Please look into LED lights and how bad they are for us. It’s an outrage.
I'm sure that's not the only think killing us.
