The movie is so painfully relatable, i am not even from usa nor live in a desert town and i found characters resembling people i could actually find around here.
Uncle Rico's actor also puts out some real top notch acting despite the comedic undertones the struggle of letting go of the things you could have been to move forward is a painful process that basically everyone that ever lived will go through.

    • @ComeSeeWithMe
      @ComeSeeWithMe  Před 2 lety +7

I agree. This movie is so simple, which makes it very relatable to so many people. That’s what I love about it. It just goes to show that everyone has a story, and their story just might be one you haven’t heard yet. That’s the beauty of truly getting to know someone. No matter how extravagant or simple their life may seem on the outside, it what lies within that matters most. We’re all going through or dealing with something in our lives. If more people would stop focusing on disliking what makes us all “different” and appreciate the good in others (kind of the story of this movie), the world could be a much kinder place for us all to live in.

Genuinely surprised that Pedro’s house was actually located in Preston. I always found it funny that the only Hispanic family in town would somehow find the only adobe Spanish style house in a remote town. 🤣🤣. It makes me happy that most of these places are still there and were real. With that being the case I see how it was so cheap to film everything.

You did a great job with this video. Thank you. My mother grew up on the street where Napoleon was pulling Kip behind his bike at 26:32 The scene ends about right in front of her childhood home as they were biking north on N 2nd E just north of E 1st N. My father's childhood home was about a 1/2 block away 🤣🤣 I was actually in Preston this past weekend for my aunt's 85th birthday party. I didn't grow up anywhere near Preston myself, but it's hilarious how many connections I have to the movie locations because of relatives. And a few relatives were in the movie including a cousin in the Happy Hands Club (She was at my aunt's b-day party)🤣 One of my cousin's lived in "Pedro's" basement at one time (no joke). I have relatives who work at the egg farm.

I set out to go there the first time and thought that would be the only time I’d ever be there. Then several years later I was making my way somewhat nearby and took a detour to purposely visit again. I hope to get back there again some day too. The locations are what pull me in l, but I also enjoy the town as well. Preston has a special place in my heart.

Kings was a chain that had locations in Idaho and Utah (possibly Wyoming?). They began having hard times and closed stores one or two at a time. They no longer exist. The Kings location in Preston was later occupied by a second hand store. The last time I was there near the end of August 2021, they were closing things out.
The Rex Quan Do building was once Idaho Appliance and Sport shop. They sold all sorts of things, like Honda motorcycles, appliances, guns and ammunition, hunting clothing, etc. It was quite the place to visit when I was a youngster. We bought several motorcycles from there over the years.

Back in 1989 a friend and I went to Pittsburgh PA to check out filming locations for Night Of The Living Dead. It's a pretty long story but were able to meet friends with Karl (Harry Cooper) Hardman at his studio that he was still involved with in 1989. We were invited inside and he spent over 2 hours talking to us about the filming of NOLD. The most amazing part of the trip was he arranged access for us to see the basement used in Night Of The Living Dead. I eventually became friends with Karl Hardman and always tried to stay in contact with him whenever possible. Unlike the character Harry Cooper in the movie, he was one of the nicest people that I ever had the pleasure to meet and call him a friend.

Sometimes it’s the simple things that matter the most in life IMO. That sort of summarizes this movie in a nutshell. It was a simple story about a simple town with simple people, and yet, there’s a lot of good to take away from it at the end. It just goes to show how life doesn’t always have to been so confusing and complicated. It can be pretty damn good when you strip away all the BS and just focus on the important little things that have been right under your nose the entire time. We just weren’t paying attention to them. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you very much, and I appreciate your comment. My style has always been to show what it is I’m there to film and share with others, not to show me standing in front of the camera blocking whatever it is I’m there to see. That’s never been my style. I appreciate you recognizing that. Thanks!

Lived in Logan, UT for 16 years, which is about 20 mins south of Preston. moved there the year this movie came out. Did a lot of work in that area. Drove past the high school a lot! Not much worth doing in that town.
I was born and raised in Pocatello ID however. It was there city bus that was used in the movie.

I lived in Wellsville in the early 70’s & now in the town east of there. My Uncle is the weather man there & last name Roundy.
Speaking of Pocatello my Dad built the Taco Time there. It was a old Radio Station & they moved it closer to street. Dad lived in the basement working on it
As for the Cuttin Corral I got a hair cut there once because I was dating the owners Daughter.
Those sand dunes are a fun place, been there once in the late 80’s & camped there.
The Valley is sure changing & sad to see the farm ground go.

This was cool to watch and be able to recognize actual locations from the movie.
Back in the actual 80’s there was a movie called Angus. That was filmed in and took place in a town called Owatonna Minnesota. The main character was a high school boy named Angus Baffon. And he was played by Charlie Talbot his Mom was Cathy Bates and his Grandpa was George C Scott. I really wish you would check it out. I have a feeling that you might find it enjoyable.
