      @FreedomFox1 Před 4 lety +28

Exactly. Most men complaining of the symptoms of low testosterone will be put on antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, sleeping pills, etc. It never occurs to most doctors to look for potential physical causes for psychological problems. So instead of fixing the underlying causes, we try to mask the symptoms with drugs.

*My "T" level was only 7, less than a women! A year after taking TRT by my Dr. informed me that blood sugar dropped 30 points so I am no longer PRE-DIABETIC. I lost 56 lbs. without dieting and have improved sleep and when my Dr. added an Estrogen blocker (Anastozole) my prostate shank 60% in 18 months. My BP dropped too. The Dr. keeps my "T" at around 300 to 400, right in the middle. Keep in mind the horror stories about "T" come from weight lifters who take their free "T" levels over 1200 or more! You should never be afraid of mild TRT treatment. NOTE: I am 78 years old so it's never to late to start especially if you have prostrate problems. You will here my lies about "T" and one is that HIGH LEVELS WILL ENLARGE YOUR PROSTRATE, BULL!!! Think abotu that for a moment. Men have their HIGHEST "T" levels between the ages of 18 and 34 and none of these man have any enlarged prostrate problems! Did you at that age??? So we can safley say HRT and higher "T" levels does not cause an Enlarged Prostate. Again 10mg of "T" injected once a week in my outer thigh plus 15mg of Anastozole 4 times a week is the "SILVER BULLET" for all sorts of aging problems men typically get!!! The list of problems this solves is LONG included bone loss and stamina. One side effect is that "T" brings Red blood cell count up BUT not past the levels you had as a vigorous 18 year old!!!*

AIs make me feel depressed so I refuse to be on them. Tons of study’s indicating why most the horror stories of HRT come from the use of AIs. Find your sweet spot I say. If your sweet spot is 400 then great. But If yours is 1000? Then stay at 1000. You’ll know when your to high and trust me you won’t like being there.

@@brandish4952 I know its been 2 months but nobody answered your question, so. Estrogen blockers function through aromatase inhibition. Basically they block the receptor sites that allow the aromatase enzyme to 'aromatize' other hormones into estrogen. They function very well. Problem is, aromatase also has necessary function in both your heart and brain, and aromatase inhibitors will affect this. This makes prolonged exposure to an aromatase inhibitor both cardiotoxic and neurotoxic.
How cardiotoxic? Well, in women with estrogen sensitive breast cancer taking aromatase inhibitors (This is a recognized therapeutic approach), incidence of measurable cardiac problems increased by 26%. Cardiac problems = heart attack, chest pain, heart failure.
T clinics for the longest time were mixing up their T with aromatase inhibitors (AIs), their reasons were primarily to prevent gynecomastia (bitch tits) from forming in men. Basically when you take a shit ton of T at once, that all gets aromatized into a shit ton of Estrogen at once, causing gyno. Nowadays its generally understood (I think) that if you take T in low, frequent doses; rather than large, infrequent doses (3x/week instead of 1 every 2 weeks) there is no need for an AI mixed into your T.
So, that's why dude's on an estrogen blocker in the first place, and why the other guy thinks it will put him in a coffin.

So in 1985 men 22 to 35 had an average total testosterone of 1200. In the year 2000 it dropped to 675 (when the thumbnail chart was made I assume). Then in 2020 that number fell to 455. This does not worry anyone? I mention it to every doctor I meet and they say they know this but don't know why it is occurring. Why are we not looking into it?
From age 35 to death men lose roughly 1% of their total testosterone each year. There are thousands of studies on it. Take 1200 and subtract 1% compounded over 10 or 20 years.
My endocrinologist said the prescriptions are garbage. He is a male in his mid 40s. He said go to a mens clinic and get injections coupled with monthly blood tests. Now my number is monitored and regulated.
At age 42 I had a 258T. With TRT once weekly shots my testosterone went up to 470 and I had morning wood everyday. In month two my weight went from 230 pounds to 205 pounds and my testosterone went to 700T. In month three I went to 1132T and started gaining muscle rapidly. Worth it.

If a “normal” (and by the way you seem to not even know what normal is) level of testosterone in your blood system can give you a heart attack, then why didn’t I have a heart attack in my 20’s? The laughing and snickering during the presentation says it all. Low T and a desire to try and maintain your vitality as long as you can is a joke to the people in that room. Fill up that room with men who have ED, low libido, low energy, short term memory loss, loss of muscle mass, BPH, lower back pain, ... , and see how many laughs you get.

Dude you need to learn how to listen better. All those adverse effects she was talking about were for older men. Like above 65 years old it says it on the top of her slides and she even said that high red blood cell counts effect older men and younger men differently which is why she was listing adverse effects mostly for older men rather than younger men. The fact that you brought up why you didn’t have a heart attack in your 20s just goes to show how little you paid attention. High RBC can benefit younger men by increasing their O2 carrying capacity but this does not happen in older men. Which explains why you didn’t have a heart attack in your 20s. But having a high rbc count as an older man means thicker blood which increases your chances of a cardiovascular event (heart attack). Facts are facts pal. She’s obviously going over these studies because they want to find a solution to that problem so people can benefit from trt without increasing their chances of heart attack or stroke which most trt clinics won’t warn you about.

Simply... testosterone does not cause heart attacks. However, it can contribute to thicker blood. Thick blood is more difficult to pump, especially if there is inflammation of blood vessels or calcification due to accumulation as we age (hence no heart attack while 20) or un/known "damage" to these cardiovascular structures.

I was doing some reviewing of Testosterone, namely low levels as there have been reports of T dropping in men over the last 40 years or so. This video then came up in my YT feed. Keep in mind there are a number of videos out there on how to boost one's levels without TRT injections. I'm 63 and want to maintain if not improve my levels, and have a blood test scheduled during my annual physical in January.
Anyway, here's some notes I took on increasing T levels naturally. Honestly, much of it is about living healthy.
Be proactive at reducing one's stress (cortisol inhibits testosterone).
Get a full nights sleep! Scientists are learning just how critical this is to good overall health.
Eat healthy fats and eschew the unhealthy ones.
Intense Exercise: Never skip leg day. Squats, Lunges, and Dead Lifts. Perform high-intensity interval training. Lift heavy weights.
Get down to low body fat levels.
Stop storing and/or reheating foods in plastic containers.
Hops used in beer are estrogenic. Rats! I like a beer once in a while.
Eat those dark green leafy vegetables.
Eat beef, pork, salmon, tuna, chicken and eggs. (Yeah vegans, you can suck it.)
I've picked up that Vitamin D is quite important, as well as Zink.
And of course, drop sugar intake (I have to work on that one too.)
Anyway, those are the notes I've taken.
I work out pretty hard but there are some tweaks I can do to follow these suggestions.

"The disease hasn't doubled in this period of time" is such an odd statement to say. Testosterone has been declining for decades now. No it didn't happen in 4 years, but that doesn't mean it's not declining. Not saying that all the clinics and prescriptions are exactly what they should be, but playing this down is a little funny coming from a professional.
The reason why people are even looking at this is because of the failure of medical institutions to provide real solutions that makes people look at literally anything that might help because all their doctors do is looking at a range that makes no sense, check some marks and call it a day.

Also I notice that modern medicine approaches everything with over-caution, unless its a drug they can make a billion dollars with. Hahahha.. women produce more testosterone in their 20,s than they do estrogen and men also need estrogen....so testosterone is not a 'male' hormone you just have higher levels of it. Also most gynecologists are male that treat females. The fact is you get good and bad specialists in all medical fields, it's not a man vs women issue. The fact she is female has nothing to do with her view. Just like rubbish male gynecologists have nothing to do with the fact they are men.

Got to get something clear here...the normal levels of testosterone is yes 600-1100...however if you get tested and your level is lets say 650 and you're in your 50's or 60's that don't necessarily mean that's normal....why you may ask ?..well if your levels were 800-1100 when you were younger then at 650 now you're actually low...now this is providing you have these symptoms because if you're at 650 and feeling great then chances are you were always at the lower end of the scale and yes you'd be classified as normal at 650....bottom line if you're an active person all all of a sudden you start having these symptoms and everything else checks out fine with your health your Dr should put you on T and keep you at the higher end of that scale lets say 900-1100...I know because I am that guy...my levels were at 640 but was starting to feel like crap and I was always in the gym and my workouts were getting tougher to do by the day...had to take naps in the afternoon was getting more belly fat I just couldn't get rid of even though I had six pack abs right up to 60 years old...brain fog was crazy...would feel depressed and nothing interested me anymore it was horrible and this came on over a period of just a few months...I was put on a low dose of test by patch and within weeks I felt like me again it was like a huge wet blanket had been taken off of me and I'm living again...like my Dr said never just go by the numbers if you're low normal it may be not normal to everyone because I'm at 950 now and feel young again.

While total testosterone is important the free testosterone (will usually be the lowered number) is the only one that indicates what your body can use. Don’t be fooled by doctors or others that want to talk about total number only. Find out the facts guys from a clinical urologist not an MD or your neighbor. Testosterone levels around 500 to 550 with lower SHBG levels and good Free T levels actually aids in heart health and reduces cardiac events. High estrogen brought on by poor physical health and higher bodyfat aromatizing left over a testosterone to estrogen. Testosterone is not something evil.

The reason being is that it will increase your RBC, and Hematocrit! I'm in my 40's and trying to get things down still! I was diagnosed with low T, and ended up getting Blood Clots, and some DVT's. Now they got me on blood thinners. Been on that for almost a year.

It's a real issue for guys but the associated stigma means is largely under reported. The part of the video just after 13mins shows why..."Could be destroying your manhood" read in a judging, condescending way accompanied with a snigger from the women in the audience. "Manhood" is the very core of what it is to be a man.
Looking at her own slides shows yes, the marketing is working - MORE MEN ARE AWARE of the condition and what can be done to help their poor quality of life. We should be looking at patient quality of life KPI's....who cares how much money is being spent and how many men are reporting symptoms? If all of those men *actually have low free testosterone with symptoms*, and their quality of life improves post treatment, isn't that what healthcare is all about?
It's interesting when looking at the graphs for HRT in women....they also show a YOY increase with corresponding increase in spending.

If you have symptoms of low -T then you are low on T. Take the T. If your symptoms improve then its working.
as far as vitality goes...if you are active you will be active with T supplement, but the supplement will not not do the walking or lifting for you. I am a 72 yo retired MD in a different specialty. I had a lot of health and stress issues the past several years but I have been addressing all the “possible causes” of symptoms of low T. I would like to proceed to seek TRT for several reasons. I appreciate this presentation and it’s intent to explore and advise on a significant problem. What I took away was 1. Testosterone levels are highly variable even in one individual, 2. There seems to be no measurable “end point” of function or anatomy to use as an end-point for defining “HEALTHY” testosterone levels in the most wholistic way. Normal is just a statistic. These days being overweight is considered “normal” because lots of people are overweight. 3. The only TRT study that was halted for adverse events was done on a very unhealthy population (overweight, diabetics, sedentary men). The study should be repeated on otherwise healthy individuals and of duration and sample size big enough to really get answers. 4. Characteristic of academic medical research, there seems to be a bias here that UNDERVALUES the significant benefits for many individuals, while OVERVALUING the potential of side effects. 5. In the end, I suggest that a responsibly prescribed and monitored clinical trial consisting of one person who feels that the possible risks are less important in their personal value system than the physical, psychological and sexual symptoms they are experiencing. The end point of the study would be when they either STOPPED because they felt not enough benefit, OR that they continue TRT because they were convinced that on balance it was better for them. Not feeling MAN enough is a serious condition. Many keep quiet because they are embarrassed. It is a difficult conversation for today’s male patient to initiate. Physicians IMO are also embarrassed and avoidant of the topic. That's the way the practice of medicine is supposed to be- testing for various things to see where they're at and if there's a problem, if they're normal you can rule- out that as the problem,
not blindly "throwing" one medication or another at people like antidepressants, which only mask symptoms to encounteract adverse side effects of something else, they're not "correcting" anything, like the way insulin corrects high blood sugar. they don't know when they put you on S,S,R,s whether you actually have low serotonin, they would have to biopsy your brain to know that.
it's a theory that if they inhibit serotonin, that will trigger your brain to produce more but they don't do any lab work to verify if that's happening. psychiatry shouldn't be categorized as a medical doctorate, because it doesn't deal in any lab work, any science to actually prove anything beyond clinical opinions.
