- The York Regional Police Road Safety Bureau is committed to its ongoing efforts to combat stunt driving and street racing as part of Project ERASE and recently initiated two traffic stops that led to charges, licence suspensions and vehicles being impounded.
On Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 3:20 p.m., an officer observed a black BMW driving at a high rate of speed in the area of Major Mackenzie Drive West and Pine Valley Drive in the City of Vaughan. The vehicle reached a top speed of 162 kilometers per hour, while in a 60 zone. The driver was stopped and his licence was suspended for 30 days, his vehicle was impounded for 14 days and he was charged with Speeding and Stunt Driving.
Project ERASE is an awareness and enforcement campaign operated jointly by police services across Ontario, in partnership with the Government of Ontario, with the goal of eliminating street racing, stunt driving and other high-risk driving behaviours.
Aggressive driving and street racing are dangerous, unlawful activities which put innocent people at risk of injury or death. The real finish line may be court, fines, jail, vehicle seizure, a loss of driving privileges or even worse, the hospital or the morgue.
Throughout the summer season as part of Project ERASE, the York Regional Police helicopter Air2, will continue to work with officers on the ground, watching for vehicles staging to race, vehicles travelling at excessive rates of speed and vehicles that do not meet safety standards. Street racers put themselves and unsuspecting road users at risk of death or serious injury when they choose to disobey traffic laws and drive without due care and control and with a disregard for public safety.
Call 9-1-1 if you see dangerous driving practices that could cause personal injury or loss of life. When contacting police, try to note the vehicle’s location, direction of travel, make, model, licence plate number and driver’s description.
This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Road Safety Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext.7703, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com
Now he has to explain to his Dad why Dad can't have his car back for the next two weeks, not including the impound fees, towing fees, storage fees, massive increase in insurance premiums. Good job YRP.
and that's deep in Wood bridge ... so you know the kid got the spacca la faccia....
That satisfaction seeing him left stranded on the sidewalk. 😂 "Daddy I need you to pick me up"
leaving peope stranded...thats criminal...they do that to tourist everyday...a bit of speeding while they lowered speedlimits so everyone is a criminal...but its okay to do crack and sell drugs eh...lol...welcome to nazi land...have a nice night nazi
What’s wrong with the car?
Ummm, I think we need to talk, Dad.
great work YRP! Because its daddy's vehicle, he doesn't care. No responsibility doesn't end well. Excellent job!!!! Thanks for keeping us safe! 👏👏👏
Keep it up YRP! Get these drivers off the roads! Stay safe! 💚
Wish we had dad’s reaction!!! Also, love how he leaves him on the sidewalk 😂
Love this! Get these people off the road! Great job, YRP. Nice to know there’s one less person out there trying to unalive me and other drivers out there that are just trying to get where we are going in one piece. Thank you.
yah lets sell everyone high hp cars then make anyone speeding criminals, ruin thier lives ...but if you sell crack...no problem...lol
People and speeding for show off 🤔this lead to innocent people or animals death on the road! This OFFICER SAVED YOUR LIFE AND MANY OTHERS IF YOU DON'T REALIZE! GOD BLESS OFFICERS AND K9 ❤❤❤
then why are accidents rates so high...there has always been speeders...many many more...you think this is the first speeder in history...you think they havne't made high hp cars before...for 50 years they allow manufactures to sell high hp cars. you have a nice day nazi
Well if that was my son I would be seriously disapointed and take his driving privilages away. He would have to eiter take the bus, an uber (with his own money), walk, or have his friends pick him up. Until for the next 6 years when the family car insurance starts to return to normal.
Make him get his own insurance and his own car
Nice job 👌🚨
Thats one expensive coffee run 😂
Keep it up YRP ❤ You are keeping our roads safe 👍 🙏 Thanks for keeping Vaughan safe
Nice dramatic pause there. "You're going to lose your license.....for 30 days".
Really glad I saw this video. Need to be more mindful of how far the speedgun can see... especially when merging onto the highway gotta be much more cautious
I wish I had thought about that before I got caught driving 96km/h I just lost my License for 30 days, and my car was impounded for 14 days.
@static_Tricolor_camry fk... sorry to hear dude. It's funny whenever merging now instead of looking ahead im scanning all cars behind me 😅
@@MTechnikM True there were people in the far Right lane flying as I'm on the ram with my Left turn signal on, I had to drop my speed.
@@static_Tricolor_camry were you given summons for court?
@@viraj_og8981 I attended my first court date and my lawyer was on zoom, I didn't need to be there. They are dealing with the court dates for me. I hired NextLaw firm, they are 5 Star lawyers that deals with mostly stunt driving charges.
Damm son, drive smart and drive protected with a radar detector.
They won't tell people the amount of accidents people cause going 20 and 30 below the speed limit on the highway in the left and middle lanes lol
@@NinjahM3 true that! Too slow is dangerous af
Radar detectors are illegal in Ontario.
@@NinjahM3 What does that have to do with going 160 km/h in a 60 km/h zone?
@@user-zr6pl6nb6z both are speed related.
Goofy with dad’s car. Revoke their licences. Period. No surprise here.
and he will be back on roads in 30 days 😂😂😂😂 the law is a joke for them
Why blur out his face ? If it was any other crime his face would be all over the news. Name and shame these clowns.
Maybe because he didn’t commit a crime?
@@user-km2ni8ly9xso reckless driving isn't a crime??
So if he didn't do anything wrong why did they take his car? Do cops in Ontario have a habit of randomly towing people's cars?
@@davidtolman1266Highway Traffic Act and Criminal Code are two different things. He didn’t commit a crime
@@davidtolman1266 No, technically it's not a crime. It's part of the Highway Traffic Act and is technically just a traffic offence, it's not actually a criminal charge.
BMW PUKES
lol has to be BMW
There's no victim, what's the crime, aside from generating revenue for the state, how about you crack down on actual crime which is rampant. Statistically speaking speeding isn't the issue, lack of competence is, I've had morons who must have bought their license try to merge into me on the highway when I was next to them, because they were too distracted by their phones. Crack down on drunk drivers, and real crime.
By same logic someone can shoot bullets around your house and kids as long as the bullet don’t hit them since no harm is done? Who cares if someone might be killed by the shooter later.
This can be a potential accident and I'm glad the cop prevented it. 70 on a 60? Sure. But more than doubled that endangers others - especially because people can't predict your movement because of the spontaneous speed? Use your brain. This issue is a no brainer. You make it sound like they're not trying to tackle DUI's.
@@ssjayy-xs5lh The real crime is global capitalist hegemony which is a system that is upheld by police and safeguards the rich. Use your brain.
3 lane freeway with a speed limit of 60? Just a cash register for the government. The moment at 160 was excessive but going 100 there should be safe and normal for the most basic competent driver.
what's there to predict, one would be going straight lol, if you're not checking your blindspot, mirrors, and signalling before changing lanes, you belong on a bicycle, how does that boot taste?@@ssjayy-xs5lh
Stunt driving is a absolutely stupid charge and name for speeding . Look the definition up, stunt drivings definition has nothing to do with speeding. Number 2 Innocent until proven Guilty in the court of law, but yet they take your car right there on spot , take your license right on the spot , so how does that equate to , Innocent until proven Guilty in the court of law. You should not loose anything until proven guilty in the court of law. Why because 98% of people that fight this charge gets it thrown out . But yet you spend how much on the impound gettng your car out . Getting your license reactivated and your insurance has gone sky high and mean while the charge was thrown out. Its all about money thats all these pigs car about . So they get the impound money in which is crazy . So the real conclusion is , guilty until proven innocent ,which totally goes against our rights . And thats what every charge now seens like .
Agreed i might also add, what sort of stupid law strands you in the middle of the road. What if this is Sudbury and you live in Toronto? License suspension fine, fees fine. Wtf is an impound fee, you have to pay to park your vehicle. Long story short, from experience, dont go above 40 on highway and not over 20-30 on normal streets/roads.
