How could any car go 167km/hr in that traffic?
That’s what I thought

It happens I seen people do it a lot on that road

Theres no way. They would stick out
Prime example of why you alwayssss ask the courts to provide example of the last calibration of their radar gun…
It’s hard to see but you can barely make out the guy just behind the blind spot of the car as he’s moving his camera back
@@Diarmuid056bruh there all moving relatively the same speed. Ain’t no way.
This is not a radar gun. It's a LIDAR gun which does not need to be calibrated as often. Generally, it's recommended to calibrate a LiDAR gun at least once a year.
Radar on the other hand. You are correct, they need to be calibrated often otherwise they give false reading.
@@HorribleProgram-ew6ei
Radar: Radar is a technology that helps us find and track things by sending out radio waves and listening for their echoes.
Power Dissipation: When you turn it on, the light spreads out and becomes weaker the farther you are from it. Radar waves work the same way; they become weaker as they travel away from the radar.
Antenna: It talks by sending out radio waves and listens for the echoes. In this case, let's pretend the radar sends out waves equally in all directions.
1/4π (One-Quarter Pi): This is a number we use in radar math to figure out how the radar waves spread out in the air. It helps us understand how the strength of the waves decreases as they go farther away from the radar.
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging): LiDAR uses laser beams (light) to measure distances. It measures the time it takes for laser pulses to bounce off objects and return to the sensor.
Radar (Radio Detection and Ranging): Radar, on the other hand, uses radio waves to detect and locate objects. It sends out radio waves and listens for their echoes to determine the distance, speed, and direction of objects.
Yes. you are an idiot. Once again, LIDAR IS NOT RADAR. Lidar has a highly accurate reading that does not need to be calibrated as often as radar.

@MyAura getting the plate is a part of it, but they would have to prove who was driving the car if he got away.
Yeah Einstein, It's the policeman's objective to catch the guy speeding BUT at the same time, cop had to enter into traffic in a Safe Way as not to cause an accident because traffic volume was very thick & speedy, so he had to be careful not to cause a MAJOR pileup accident.
What do you expect ?
I've watched this twice and still can't see a vehicle approaching him at a speed higher than the traffic flow.

Speed limits should be increased.
No need.
Ticket the slow cars and you’ll see an average 20km increase in traffic
@@thunderbirdizations I literally believe that speed limits should be increased, especially in the suburbs and rural areas of Canada. Imagine traveling from Toronto to Windsor at 100km. Literally no traffic happens in those roads and having a no speed limit road or a faster speed limit will decrease travel times greatly. What baffles me is how Canada being one of the most biggest countries in the world doesn't have a proper freeway with highspeeds. It's ironic how in Europe or especially Germany they have an Autobahn with no speed limit. Why can't the 407 have no speed limit? It would be worth paying a hefty toll to travel fast compared to other highways. At least make the 407 speed limit 200kph instead of 100.
Also the notion that increasing speed limits will increase risk of collisions is a myth. In fact like you said, its because of slower drivers or drivers with impaired ability that cause it. It's not the car that causes collisions but us.
@@hightiernub1313 mostly agreed, we won’t see 200kmh in a snow-zone though. Higher speeds cause less accidents, but severity significantly increases.
For me, in a high-density area, traffic’s caused by dumbasses either driving too slow in the wrong lanes, or drivers swerving through traffic, b/c they think they’re racers, and they end up causing mayhem infront & behind them
@thunderbirdizations In the Autobahn they have speed restricted zones so in Canada for example they can use those digital signs to impose a speed limit during snow seasons.
@@hightiernub1313 makes sense but Canadian weather is volatile; might be sunny in the morning, and a blizzard might hit by lunch. If you get into an accident in a blizzard because you lost control at 200kmh, who owns the accountability? The driver, the car manufacturer (therefore limiting car imports and increasing tariffs), municipal gov’ts for not updating speed restrictions in time (to do so would require more rss and taxes)?
One big benefit to your point though, construction plays a major role in traffic. We don’t see construction in adverse weather and therefore there is less traffic even at lower speeds
I moved out of ONT 8 years ago and had to go back for family business. EVERYONE driving on a 400 series highway over the past 20+ years drives at LEAST 120 KPH in a posted 100 KPH zone. In most cases it avg 130-140 KPH.
Even the qew is averaging 120-140kph
@@princelysnail1998 140km/h is child's play on the 407. I love the 407
Idk what highways ur on but im always seeing people sittin in the middle lane going 90 and screwing up the flow of traffic. Then theres that 1 guy going max 100 in the left lane and they dont give 2 shits to gtfo the way.
Same with Alberta. Nobody drives 110. Speed limit is 110 that means the limit is 120, most cars go 130. Even all cops go over 110. The fastest I have gone is 210
@@DaTT78 Then people would do 140 as the norm while the speeders are doing 180-200kmh like they're entitled, to do.
Look here, a guy is doing nearly 70kmh OVER posted speed. My car can definitely do 170KMH and not feel out of place. The only bad thing is the gas gauge would go down fast.
Cop proceeds to drive 200kmh to catch someone doing 160 in bad weather conditions 😂
You know he was doing 200? Did you see the speedometer at that time? Were you there?
Cops have every right to chase someone at any speed and yeah it comes with a risk. What if someone is speeding after smashing one of your family member, will you ask the cops to obey speed limits?

Better too not talk when you don’t know a thing about the topic.
The only reason why he doesn’t pull out with lights and siren. Due to the potentially of having a car slam on their breaks to stop for the officer and causing an accident. It’s a safety measure to consider. Please use critical thinking before making comments like you made.
The natural speed of traffic is about 130...
Catching speeders is all part of traffic police, but in Ottawa, part of police work for the lowest of the low is fabricating evidence , retaliation, illegal arrests, and throwing complainants of police criminality in jail.
In ottawa the worst of the worst is one Sgt. Peter VanDerZander, a professional fabricator of evidence who gets the support of all his superiors despite being a complainant himself about the Ottawa Police.
They really need to increase the speed limits on highway, 120+ should be the limit

I hate driving in Canada i see so many people speeding and so many idiots on the road it’s sad.
problem is, you increase the limit, you normalize the canadian speeding 20 over the limit stereotype; and people usually go around 120-140 in the 100 zone, imagine how fast people are going in a 120? like 160-180 and that’s extremely dangerous

@@VitalGlory I live rural. Any posted 80 everyone's doing at least 120 same with the highways 100 turns to 140 real quick. 165ish in the fast lane isn't unheard of when you've only got one or two lanes to move traffic. The posted limits are blanket laws for the congested cities that deal with traffic. 167 is definitely fast but not a big deal as long as conditions allow on a straight road.
@@anca2348 I played junior way up north and I 100% agree that posted speed limits aren't "real" limits, but even on highways where its 100, 140 should be the max. Anything over that you are just flying by traffic too quickly. I think most highways, the speed limit should be lifted to 110 like they did on the QEW from Niagara to hamilton. But especially in this video with that traffic levels, dude was flying.
Thats amazing sitting there waiting for speeders instead of real criminals
That's why North American speed limits outside major centers should be posted at 80-90 mph on Interstate grade freeways. Use cameras to nail those who are too fast AND those that are not moving out of the passing lanes.
Arent you supposed to use the lights when you peel out into traffic on a busy highway
Yeah ... every cop I know is a menace on the road on their personal time. I've been in the car with several.

Those cars are all doing about the same speed. If one car was going 167 kph, you'd see one car moving at lightning speed and everyone else moving much more slowly.

Buddy no one's going 167 km/h lmao most guys are going 110 to 120 and left lane 130ish
We traveled from London to Burlington Ikea last Saturday and we were passed at least 10 times like we were standing still. Those cars that flew by us were going at least 150 to 170 and all of those cars were luxury vehicles including a Lamborghini.

Speeding tickets on divided highways are nothing more than a money racket. North America is obsessed with speed limits. Germany seems to get on just fine. 160 km/h in a modern car is fine. Other drivers going 50+ under the speed limit are far more dangerous. Speeding is only dangerous because other slow idiots don't move over automatically to the right like they do on the AutoBahn. Catch the distracted drivers / slow drivers instead and stop freaking out over "speed"
1800 fatalities in Canadian highways along with 8700 serious injuries and well over 90000 minor injuries. Total cost to the tax payer: 25$ billion dollars. Traffic policing however annoying is important
Canadians can't drive that's why. Half of you guys would end up dead on the autobahn.
From a German that has driven in canada.
@@axela4606yes but all these numbers could be so much lower if idiots on the road that goes 70km/h instead of 100. And for the speed limit too, if the goal was to help drivers get to their destinations or just enjoying their car, just like Germany, where you can go freely at 160km/h without having to be worried about a stupid idiot that wants to go 10-20kmh up the limit, these numbers would be not only lower, but the drivers would be much more patients, and there would be way less road rage.
We live outside of Windsor. The 401 is crazy busy & transport trucks line the highway. Too many people weave through traffic. Especially dangerous with the construction & people using their cell phones. We have family in Burlington & Ottawa. The 401 is the grossest highway when you travel that far. Paying for using the 407 really gets my craw, but when you gotta go 9 hrs, it's worth it.
It’s not really slow drivers. It’s the drivers that don’t yield to the right for faster traffic that are dangerous
Nah there's no way it was at 167 in that traffic
I don’t like cops. My car will do over 200 mph doesn’t mean I do it. I save it for the track.
Ohhhh…. I get it now. It’s about safety, definitely not just trying to bring revenue in for the state 👍🏽.
Revenue or not, if that guy crashes at 167, he and others are dead. That shit is lethal.
American! Canadians live in Provinces not states
Obviously people Had the Same Vision that Police Officer Had, and CLEARLY the Highways around Toronto/South Simcoe Areas are FULLY SAFE and NOTHING ever Happens there!
*Sarcasm was enabled at all Times and CLEARLY some people are Just purley stupid. The Highways around the named areas are extremly Busy and Dangerous. Daily 30-40 Collisions Happen.*
EDIT: The LiDar Machine makes a beep when you measure speeds. A steady tone means traffic is flowing in a certain, safe speed. You can hear that steady tone for the first few seconds. Then, you hear a higher pitch. That indicates someone speeding or going over that steady speed. So, you guys can NOT say anything anymore.
He sounded like something Peter Griffin would say, "OooohH 167!"🤓

Yup thats how the laws of physics work buddy!
Moronic response. So if you’re in of help, are you going bitch about why they got to you so slow? Plus they have offensive and defensive training to be legally allowed to drive at those speeds.
@@LULU_XCIV I’m not “bitching” about their response time to an accident, injury or serious crime that’s taking place.
But I am bitching about the fact that these so called “trained” drivers will literally put innocent people in danger traveling high rates of speed to catch someone moving at a less dangerous speed…just to give them a TICKET for doing the same damn thing. If they’re chasing down a murder or responding to something serious, by all means, floor it..
But to just hand out a hypocritical ticket is wreck less and could cause far more harm if something happens in a matter of milliseconds.
Also, your argument that they’re “trained” is absurd. The training law enforcement gets for these scenarios is very sub par and most forget all of it when they’re adrenaline gets going and that blue light/siren hard-on happens.
Before you argue I don’t know what I’m talking about, I have several close family members and friends that have had this so-called “driver training”. I’ve also witnessed the program personally.
How can I judge the training?
I may or may not have also went through the instruction part personally.
I also could be a highly experienced driver myself 🤷🏼♂️
Hell, I may even have multiple licenses from different road & drag racing associations 🤷🏼♂️ or I may not..
Either way, if I did happen to have far better experience driving than any law enforcement, would that also be a license for me drive at high rates of speed to tell someone else to slow down?
Please explain how their few hours of seat time dodging cones (where most fail) at low speed qualifies them to travel at excessive speed for anything less than an urgent emergency? Before you respond be sure to look up exactly what their specific training entails, because high speed driving in traffic is not part of their curriculum. But again, if I were to MAYBE have logged hundreds or thousands of hours behind the wheel of a car at speeds over 120-150 mph, in heavy traffic, on actual road courses, plus years of driver training…please also explain why I can’t do so as well?
I’ll wait.
Skill issues...
Anyways, that's why they have lights and sirens, and communication with other officers within the area.
As a regular driver its your duty to pay attention to your mirrors and surroundings. The speeder still has a higher potential of causing a crash without any indicators, compared to a vehicle with flashing lights, sirens, and a horn.
The same concept when an ambulance has to drive down the highway for an emergency. The fact you didn't include those factors in, makes me judge the authenticity of your story.
Also using MPH has your speed reference tells me you're American. So why are you replying to a Canadian news about a Canadian police force? Plus 150 mph is 241 Kmh, and 120 mph is 193.12 kmh.
At the end of the day the guy is committing a crime. Which at that speed is considered stunt driving, that leads to impounding of the car, and a revoked license. At that speed, a regular civilian has a higher chance of causing a fatality compared to a trained driver. if you cant drive like that from your racing days, sounds like a skill issues.

It will never make sense to me to speed up to 200kmh just to catch the guy going 167
Who says he was going 200? You did not see the rest and you don't know what he did and how. Stop spreading bullshit.
160km is the flow of the 401 wtf
such an amazing position to have for the public
Yeah yeah yeah…. What about you cops??? You guys follow the laws??? Yeah right. Complete hypocrites
They just broke the law if they chase them it's against the law for OPP to do any case because the endangers the public it's been a loss it's almost 2003
They're protected by the law to drive at any speed. Plus, theirs also a law: cop don't investigate cop.
You people are complete morons
Bro hates cops so badly, must be another criminal 🥱
Hate this bully tactic. Cops in my small town speed all the time in their own vehicles. But they pull over someone else. I have no love for hypocrites.
I plan on stopping that with the business im going to create but iy will be in Huntsville al
I commute on the 401 daily.. 100kmh is obviously way too low when the majority of traffic is traveling at 120 to 130kmh and still getting passed by (a lot of) people going much faster. The only drivers going 100 to 110kmh are the big rigs, which have speed limiters.
You dont have resources to protect kids from online predators but definitely have resources to make sure them insurance companies are happy .. priorities
I get your point, but this person is driving 167 near several other motorists
@@amlenk167 is not fast in a modern car. Takes about 10-15 seconds to get there, and about 200-240 feet to come to a stop
@@endeavor44 Thats interesting, but regardless of whether 167 is considered fast in modern cars, it is still fast when the posted speed limit is 100 and on a crowded highway. However, this was not the main point of my message. I simply disliked that the original commenter criticized the police for doing something reasonable this time, such as stopping a reckless driver.
@@amlenkWake up man, speed limits on highways don’t increase safety.
The cop going 210+KPH is way more dangerous then the suspect driving slightly above the average speed of traffic
For 167 you wouldn't even get ticket in some European countries.
Speed limits are way too low on Canadian highways.
Just lost my license for speeding and I never considered the safety of other people, I was on the highway alone but I wasn’t upset and decided to be more responsible. People make mistakes…
You got no rights to charge people unless there’s a CRIME
401 was designed to be like the Germany highway with no speed limit.
401 is one of the worst highways, the amount of potholes is astounding
Every car was going the same LOL
Thank you for keeping the highways safe!
If cops don't follow the rules of the road how can they expect citizens to
...because they're cops. Sometimes they have to legally break the rules to stop someone else breaking the rules. They're trained, have specialized gear and vehicles. Things that dangerous citizens do not have.
That’s why we don’t increase limits to 120….idiots will be doing 180 plus
no lights , doesn't signal , proceeds to do 200km to catch the culprit . sounds logical .
that 5.7 roar is music to my ears
Speed limit should be 120 km/h. But then the govt would make less money and there would be fewer cops.
Not sure what's more dangerous .. the guy doing 167 or the cop pulling into the roadway
For those who do not drive kilometers per hour, the dude was going 103 - 104 mph
Thanks for keeping us safe boys!
You guys should also pull people over for driving too slow, and actually enforce the left lane traffic laws. Also raise the speed limit to 120 max and 100 minimum. Our highways are perfectly safe at 120, and less safe when some jackass is going 80, or even worse, 50 on the on ramp merging into traffic.
Asian cop pulled a family guy, “okay I turn now , good luck everyone else”
The summer b4 covid I drove an F150 with cargo trailer behind from Alberta to Toronto.
An hour or so outside Toronto signs said to slow down to 80kph b/c of construction. I went 140kph thru that 80kph zone, and was getting horns from everyone else as they passed me on both sides doing about 160kph(+). They were even passing a cop going back and forth across the lanes with his cherries flashing as he tried to slow traffic. The cop gave up and pulled over, 8 lanes of traffic going the same direction at 160kph(+) is too much for one cop to deal with... they definitely drive a lot faster in Ont than Ab, but they also let others into their lane when they see a signal light. In Ab, a signal light makes everyone close any gaps, keeping others from changing lanes...
Km/h
167 is a criminal offence.
Just before he says 167, the camera pans away from the highway. No one was doing 167 in that moment.
Yup just police stealing money from people.
I see cop cars speeding all the time without their emergency lights on with no one to stop and give them tickets.
You don't have anything to Prove that with..
@@aleks9677 lol happens everyday if u ever been on the road u would know
A driver going 167kph abd a cop going over 167 kph to catch up. I promise you the cop posed a bigger risk to public safty than the driver going 167kph.
Need higher speed limits. Make them comparable to speeds in the US.
401 is insane and should at least be 3 lanes on each side.
@@somad6997 It's 2023. You don't have to be an imbecile but you chose to. Good luck in life!
I don't stop for police
Until you get spiked and PIT maneuvered, then you do like the good little bitch you are 😁
As a truck driver I see this more often than not with people swerving in and out of traffic between lanes using the shoulder and most of the time. There's not a police officer to be seen anywhere
Not supposed to chase at that speed endangering citizens lives is illegal in high speed persuits why its illegal. Guess hese a rookie.
