If you believe you had a Bad C&P Exam/Experience, contact the VA hotline at 1-800-827-1000. Speak with a representative and provide a detailed account of your experience. Ensure that the representative documents your complaint in your VA claim file and forwards your request for a NEW C&P Exam to your state's VA Regional Office.
Join us in this crucial discussion as Senator Elizabeth Warren demands a comprehensive review of the VA's privatized disability compensation and pension (C&P) exams. After receiving troubling feedback about the quality and professionalism of these assessments, Senator Warren has reached out to VA Secretary Denis McDonough, pushing for substantial changes. This video, sourced from Military.com, highlights the potential implications for veterans' disability claims and ratings.
Senator Warren's letter to the VA Secretary calls attention to serious issues, including veterans meeting examiners in unprofessional settings and reports of insufficient review of veterans' medical histories. Our video dives into the historical shift towards using private contractors for these exams, the increase in privatization, and the numerous challenges this has brought to the forefront.
We also analyze the responses from the VA and the potential reforms that could reshape how veterans' disability claims are handled. With insights from VA Inspector General and Government Accountability Office reports, this video is a must-watch for veterans navigating VA claims and seeking to understand how upcoming changes could affect their disability ratings.

Have you had a C&P exam you felt was rushed or sloppy done by one of the contracting companies?

    • @Usmctbone
      @Usmctbone Před 3 měsíci +1

I would like you to do something that will differentiate you from all other VA claim channels and be different and informative to veterans. Many Veterans aren't aware of what a "proper" process would look like compared to an improper C&P exam. Bring a VA-approved C&P medical professional and have them show what is proper or inappropriate for a C&P exam. That way, if the actual C&P exam is conducted wrongly, the veteran knows it and can take appropriate action, such as calling the VA hotline on the same day of the appointment. (An additional avenue that is okay is to send a written statement via fax to Janesville to attest to what exactly is improper with the exam.

Yes, I had a C & P exam in November 2023 and was in there for 15 min, examiner did not want to go over the DBQ for Sinusitis/Rhinitis or Sleep Apnea. He said all need to know if you have a diagnosis for each claimed illness. Did not want the DBQ that was filled out said he would do his own. Now going through the appeal process

Yes. I was denied for my tinnitus and hearing loss even they admit that I have it. The examiner didn't believe me that I had a very hard time hearing in my left ear versus my right. She kept coming into the booth to adjust my ear pieces.

Had four exams scheduled at one time last month. I showed up with everything I had uploaded for my claims but didn’t bring the copy or my Service Treatment Records. The examiner hadn’t been given any of the required documents from the VA and couldn’t use the copies I had with me, even though I showed her they were all uploaded to my claim. It was extremely frustrating.
I spent my whole drive home on the phone with VA Hotline making a complaint. Waited a month, and just got notification that I’m being rescheduled for all four exams.
This process and the way the VA handles everything is disappointing and embarrassing for our government and the way they take care of Vets.

I had a C&P Exam for Sleep Apnea in December 2023, but I never received the test results. My first test was in 2018 when I took a 30-minute test at the VA. I was given a CPAP machine to take home and use, as the VA informed me that I had sleep apnea. I have been using the machine regularly since then. However, despite using the machine, I was denied benefits again."

This is a great topic but I had my VA C&P exam in 2009 at the DC VA Medical Center just before i retired. I have had two major back surgeries (Discectomies) while on active duty due to a parachute accident. Chronic back pain since the accident. My VA examiner never said a word about stopping when i feel pain - I told him i felt pain standing up straight, but i could come close to touching my toes all while in pain. No device was used to measure any angles. My right leg has had constant numbness along my calf and the sole of my left foot is numb. I went in for the hearing test and the testor accused me cheating. I had a flash bang go off near my ear and blow out my ear drum while on active duty. I ended up with 10% for my back and 10% for tinnitus. I called the number you listed in the video to report it but it ended up being a menu with no clear indication of which office to go to in order to report my experience.

I had a C&P examination for my right knee. Doing the exam, the examiner never took my paperwork, she only asked me to bend my knee twice and did not use a goniometer. This seems like it was not a thorough examination because the exam was done at the reception desk and I heard people walking around in the back. There was no privacy and I felt like she was dismissive.
I think there is a conflict of interest, because the examiners are getting paid by the VA and doing exams for the VA. Veterans should be able to pick their own doctors to do C&P exams.

The last part about them assaulting you by going past your pain. My very first time having my lower back evaluated, i had surgery a few months prior on my back. Only had the wound vac off for a week when my exam was because I got a gnarly infection after back surgery. The woman examiner was telling me that herniated discs in an mri doesn't guarantee I'm feeling pain. DDD with stenosis and nerve impaction doesn't guarantee I'm in pain when i bend. I bent forward further than I should have in the first place, and my legs began to shake. She pressed on my shoulder to flex me forward more, and i just fell straight forward. She began apologizing like crazy but what was done was done. Ended up back in the hospital and such and called the VA and got a new exam and such. I never found out what happened to this doctor but I couldn't believe she literally bent me forward until I fell. I'm 100% p&t after the second exam following the nonsense.

No goniometer for ROM too. Even brought medical evidence which was ignored. My mistake was I waited until denial until I called the VA Hotline and wrote my Congressman. Had a.C&P two weeks ago, and the examiner was kind, thorough, and sincere. It was a great experience, but I've had bad exams too. One thing she said to me I would like to share.... she hates it (and I understand why) when she gets a person in that has a list of 40 issues, they all smile and giggle and openly state they "hope they filed right so they can 'get the money.'" When you go to your exams, be humble, answer their questions the best you can, and if you are there to rip off the VA, don't be braggadocious about it. You mess it up for all the legit claimants.

Frankly, Even though I’ve been denied by contractors and VA examiners I’d rather use a contractor ALL DAY LONG. The pos VA examiners always deny claims, and hide behind the “I’m just documenting the information that the raters have instructed me to, and I’m not the decision maker for you claim.” WTFE!
They ignore our evidence, diagnosis and nexus and treat us like we deserve nothing from the VA except “thank you for your service.” The VA should stop wasting the $5k for these damn repeated exams just so they can deny Vets. Newsflash: Our gov’t gives our tax dollars away everyday to illegals and others who served a day in NOTHING! I don’t care if there’s a Vet who is getting some benefits that are more than they deserve since the fact remains that they actually served this country once they enlisted.
The VBA raters are the entitled ones who have an over-inflated view of their position and responsibility. They only utilize 38cfr when it aligns with their denial. Every time I hear them say “we want to approve as many claims as we can,” I want to vomit! Ever wonder why so many RVSRs and VSRs are at 100% t&p while the rest of us fight for 10, 30 or 50%. It is a total disgrace!!

I was with my brother in early April when he had his C&P exam. He had to be transported from his Veteran's home to the exam site. The exam was conducted in a room with and exam table in a Physical Therapy facility. I have learned through videos such as this that for back issue the examiner has to use a Goniometer to measure range of motion. My brother is confined to a wheel chair; he can not get up or stand up on his own let alone bend at the waist on his own while in the wheel chair. The examiner didn't use the Goniometer and just recorded 0 range of motion (I believe) and indicating why. Is this an issue that the geniometer wasn't used, especially when it serves no purpse in my brother's condition?
