Yep :)
Yes, especially when Rich is on my dream bike!
Yes 👍
Absolutely, thank you!
No
The process of adjusting the preload of the headset bearings is vague and although you flag up on screen you just need to remove the play from the bearings, there is no demonstration of how to check for play. The presenter just adds more tension to the top cap bolt as if this should be done with every bike built from a box.
Using the ball end of an Allen key to loosen torqued up bolts will result in them becoming rounded. The same can be said for torquing them up. This was first picked up on when watching the demonstration of the headset adjustment procedure when the presenter loosens the stem bolts. More worryingly though the use of ball end of the Allen key to tighten the crank arm preload cap that is wrongly described as nice and tight. When the Allen key is removed you can see he has started to round the cap on a brand new bike!
How to set up gears? Just watch another click bait video where we talk you through cable tension and limit screws without a mention that the hanger needs to be aligned to the frame before any of these tasks are performed.
Brake setup hard to fault you on with the presumption rotors are true and brake mounts do not need to be faced.
It' would be nice if you had mentioned to check all bolts are adequately torqued, tyres are inflated and to use anti seize on the seat post as well as wheel axles (even though you use grease).
Lastly you forgot to tell us how to true the wheels, even out the spoke tension of those questionable factory builds and set the handlebar roll with an even gap on the stem face plate (where applicable of course).

Imagine how many parts these guys have collected over the years from swapping out parts with sponsor parts
Got my bike on the 21st June, put it together on the 22nd June. Riding it to work, sick and tired of buses being late. I am into fitness so it will be a pleasure.
Thank you for the tutorial, very much appreciated. 👍🏿👍🏿
Personally I like to take the bike out of the box and shred the bike before I have built it
Same it’s just a whole other feeling !
i've done that before too, however my preference is to take the bike out of the box, shred the box, and then come home and look at the pile of bike parts on the floor. I guess we just all do things differently
Oh you guys take the bike out of the box?
My box came in the bikes inner tube storage ?!
@@filipponardello7468 can just imagine you bike coming in a big plastic bagXD
Oh man I needed this like 2 weeks ago when my Stoic showed up! My first mountain bike, I'm pumped!
You guys should do a bike build video tutorial from bare frame up
The new bike joy shared with the presenter is awesome! Enjoy! 😃
That Stoic is such a bargain! About time the channel rode more budget version bikes because let’s face it, that is what the majority of their audience can afford!
And its still a good bike.
sad thing it's never available 😔
When I got the notification for this video, Parcelforce with my new bike was just ringing the bell 😃
ooo what did you get?

Would have been more instructive, if Rich had used for the assemble the tools provided by Canyon in the box, like the torque wrench.
Indeed
🤣
Thanks Rich...be safe
Before watching this video , i have already assembled my giant brand bike and rode it. İt's an amazing feeling getting back into cycling after 2 years. İ thought that I could do without cycling but I need the breather from time to time.
Thx for tips rich this nice for my plan buying my first own bike
I like this frame more than the Grand canyon 7
Bike comes tommorw can't wait
Tnx🔥
I think I have never seen a SR Suntour fork before on this channel. Nice!
Top shelf video, informative and post build ripping ride.
Glad you liked it!
Would be cool if Rich built it with the tools from the get started box
wooow nice bike..
wish i could have one
Thank you sirrrr
Not fair! I am still waiting for my Canyon hahahahahah 🤣🤣. Love the show!
At least now you know how to assemble your Canyon. I didn't, and screwed my derailleur up and had to buy a replacement. The manual in the box and the assemble videos on Canyon website suck big time I must say.
Thanks a lot for a nice video. Can you also please talk about set up of suspensions please?
haha i rich is just a nice and funny presenter. Cool dude!
Should you use lock tight on some bolts like the handle bars?
One thing I like to do on a new bike is brake levers bleed. This is not a full bleed and it's very quick. It's just to let air out of the levers reservoir if there is any from the assembly. I found that there is frequently a small amount. Not enough to be a major hindrance, but definitely enough for the brakes to feel a bit spongy. Takes only 5 minutes, put the cup with some oil on the brake lever, compress and release the lever a few times, watching for bubbles coming out. Repeat until no more bubbles come out. Done :D
I was just looking at that canyon hardtail on their site a few minutes ago.
Just taken delivery of a Spesh Epic HT, I've noticed if I give it the decent beans in it's highest gear, it can give a 'crunch' noise, is this just wrong gear selection?
Subscribed, very informative! Better then there own websites assembly. You used grease and lube
Is it ok if i use copper paste in the thru axle and in the saddle post?
What's the proper air setting/pressure in the fork? Not referenced in the manual. Thanks!
I just noticed, does the UK not require sold bikes to have a 'dork disk'? I have to say it is way cooler to pull it out of the box without one.
Sick🤟
DONT FORGET THE TOOLS. DONT FORGET THE PARTS. DONT FORGET TO BUY MORE TOOLS TO INSTALL THE PARTS!
Awesome 😎😎😎
Is it easy to configure the front brakes to be on the right side?
whats the carbon paste used on or is that the same as grease ?
I am putting my first bike together. It didn’t come with any grease so I couldn’t lube anything up (got it from bikes direct) - after I put the quick release front tire on, there’s a scraping noise. Then I noticed the back wheel does it too. Sounds like metal scraping. Is this something I should be concerned with? I’m hoping it’s because I haven’t calibrated or used it yet but I’m worried.
Nice vid
At the hairdresser...
Rich: just fuck my shit up fam
Great value bike, but defo needs a dropper
this stoic looks siclk
9:08 can i have the schwalbe ones😢 i bought the stoic 2 from someone but they switched the tires for cheaper ones.
You just took my favorite tires off this bike. Please send them over to me in Oregon USA!!!
But I understand about sponsorship - Vittoria pays you to promote them. :)
Do your bit. Recycle. Thanks Rich
How tall you are and how big is the frame?
So how did the brakes get on the handlebar?
Meron kayong trinx?
What's the size of the frame? Is that M size?
i still have play in my headset after doing this. any tips?
can you make a detailed video on " How to assemble 2022 Pivot firebird air" with all the specific materials needed to assemble the bike
You do exactly the same as in this video, using the same lubricants and greases, but you do it wth a 2022 Pivot Firebird Air 😉
Never clicked this fast on a video🔥
Not sure why you left stock grease on the chain. It will form grinding paste very soon and damage the chain very soon.
5:08 : Be careful, there is a plastic tool to tighten the preload plastic bolt into the crank. We can clearly see you rounded the bolt head of with that allen wrench :-/ !
Riiiiich theres a wall of parktool tools on the background! im sure you have the crank preload tool!
@@karlcorrz This crankset actually comes with its own brand-designed tool, you can't use any parktool thing on it, but it's in the box shipped with the bike ! :)
I much prefer the metal upgrade with Allen head fitting as it’s easier to get right knowing it won’t breK
@@James-dn1hu Didn't even know there was a metal version of that fitting :)
@@bicross87 I had one made by a company called token. Think burgtec make them as well
how tall are you and what size did you get?
Why didn't you use full suspension model for this ride mate??
Does it come with grease ?
Did he just use SAC-2 assembly compound on the axles?
Does the bike come with grease?
Where can i buy canyon stoic 2
How does it ride on dirt roads
I like how you take out the box with tge derrailure assembled😭 and mine not
I waiting for my new bike
#Askgmbntech I'm trying to remove my original SR suntour forks from my budget Scott Bike (aspect 750 2018). I remove the topcap and the stem. but the forks are still firm in the headtube. Even with a rubber mallet, I cannot get the steerer tube out of the frame.
Is there an aditional thing i'm missing?
Thanks.
Lift off headset. You might need to wiggle it forward and back. Also headset could be trusted to fork. Should come apart with a bit of wiggle. You did loosen the stems bolts too.
@@derman3658 Thanks:). I removed the stem completely, the handlebars and stem we're hanging on the side of the bike. I removed the topcap and bolt so I was able to See the star fangled nut. I'll have to ask a mechanic to look at it.
The proper way to tighten the crank bolts is the same way you do it on the stem! Not the other way round. :) It makes no sense to tighten the bolts and after that try to adjust it.
Shredded 🤣
How can I remove old paint from an aluminum bike? Anything i can buy it!
Why does rich always sound like his voice is breaking like a teenager lol
When my bike came, they had set the fork the wrong way, might be Because it’s a reverse arche, but shouldn’t they have seen the correct way on the disc brake beeing on the wrong side?🤔
Is that trail named Ac/DC?👀
Doesn't Canyon make computer mice?
I now know why the stoics are always sold out and it’s because every MTB channel has ordered at least two of them😅
thanks for your help cause I'm just a kid... IDK how to fix it up
8:39 what up with those jeans
How do you guys always have daily videos
Yes I mean
What size is that frame?
I want to know too. Don't believe in Canyon PPS. But looks like a M size.
Did I just see a torque wrench included in the box? If so that’s amazing
They come with all the tools you need, dynamo metric tool with different heads, even the grease, suspension pump, instructions. Still I brought it to my local shop so the could check it.
That's cool and everything but what would be even cooler is if they could get bikes in stock for regular people to buy. It's been over a year now that everything has been messed up.
It will last till late 2022.
@@psychonaut038 Hah!
Greases etc. ?? Give us some grease info
I find it quite hard
I build bikes for Dicks Sporting Goods and its one of the best jobs I've ever had.
nice to see a budget bike on this show. you could probably put it in a raffle draw where viewers would have a chance to win it. 😁
6:43 he said top and bottom gear XDDDD
Great bike , rides smooth czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing
Thank god my bike came pretty built this looks like to much work
Oh Sasha 😯

I love Rich but I do have to ask, where is everyone else? How comes it's only been Rich for the past week?
do it without the bike vise, as most of us would
I still don't understand spending over 3k on a bike but still have to do manual labour when it arrives
Yeah, these bikes should come with a bike mechanic in a box
@@hard2600 no bro !
I think they should provide robotic arms for this.
Or instead you can buy same bike with same components for 5k. Doesn't that sound much more reasonable?
Unfortunately, the piece missing from the box which makes putting a bike together easy peasy...is the stand!
So much assembly missing as pre assebled, would be better to show everything someone needs to know
i'd like to buy version 4
I don't understand this video. Rich never got hit by the box. Didn't change the grips. He used proper tools (for the most part). No banging in stuff, cutting down forks and running them in the curb. Didn't hit a passing bystander from California with a part that got away.
And lastly, he wasted so much time when he could have just "magic-ed" the whole bike together.
😉
It’s such a long bike
Second
Good idea but this requires a little bit more comprehensive video. There are gaps that are going to cause mistakes and confusion and... a trip to the bike shop
I’ve been gone so long they are no longer partnered with nuke proof :0
Hi Liggy, great to hear you are back with us! For bikes, we are sponsored by both Canyon And Nukeproof. You can find a full list of our partners in the video description 🙂
