Hey, Phil Beastall here (writer and director of this music video). I’ll never get tired or seeing emotional reactions like this to my films. I’ll always be very proud of this. Thanks for watching!
Phenomenal job. This is one of my favorite songs and this music video was perfection. Glad you found the video :)
It's one of the best emotional videos that ever been made in music industry. It touches every string of the heart with such deep meaning of the plot. Bravo👏🏻!
Cried my eyes out. This video is the greatest heartbreaker. Became a donor immediately
Watched this video for the first time a few days ago. It was actually the first time hearing the actual song. … I was shooked, both by the amazing emotional vocals and the beautiful acting and direction. Bravo. One of the best music videos I’ve seen.
You did an amazing job. It’s 3 years, I watched this video several times and I cry every time. It’s incredibile. One of the most emotional and beautiful video I’ve ever seen ❤
The little girl has broke over 70% of the worlds hearts with that picture....
It's his cousin. The great Peter Capaldi. He was a great Dr Who. Fantastic reaction to an amazing song and video.
2nd cousin.
@@garymcatear822 still his cousin
@@Nkunku_baller Dads 2nd cousin. He didn't know him at all until Peter turned up at his concert and asked to meet him
@@iforgotmyoldname but still doesn’t change THE FACT he was his cousin. 😂
cousin or not, he was my fav Dr!....
The first time I saw this video, I cried like a baby. I had no idea what it would be about. This video was made to promote awareness to organ donation. Lewis has said, in Scotland, you have to "Opt Out" if you do not want to be an organ donor. Peter Capaldi is Lewis' fathers second cousin, once removed. It's an incredible song and video. It was all put together perfectly.
My wife commited suicide in 2009, we were both 27 yrs old, had 2 beautiful daughters together. I've raised them alone since. They were 8 & 6 yrs old at the time. I guess the point is, this video reminds me of her. I still miss her everyday.
I know it's been two years since you posted this but I just hope you and your kids are well. Both my parents lost a sibling to suicide when they were 36 (the age I am now), they both had/have kids. My own dad tried but thankfully he lived. I've seen the damage it does. I can't imagine how hard it must have been and still is for you. I really hope you are doing ok.
Hey man thanks for the reaction video, I played the younger dad in the video so great to see it’s still getting love x
That is so cool! I am glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching :)
It's not a song, it's a recording of his wife's heartbeats that hes listening to on headphones
Omg just broke my heart 🥺
@@SaborDeYuli ikr :(
He was listening to his wife's heartbeat. Which is what you hear at the very beginning
So Peter capaldi is Lewis capadi’s cousin (2nd cousin I think) and this video was made in promotion of organ donation. Peter capaldi is an amazing actor, his most famous role to date is playing the doctor in the British sci fi series Doctor Who. This video definitely hits you in the feels!
Are you sure? Isn't Peter Capaldi like 40 years older than Lewis?
@@arthurl.a9579 they are second cousins once removed. Peter capaldi is Lewis’s dads second cousin, you can google it. I apologise for leaving out the once removed bit 😁
@@elizabethlatham6248 Ohh. his dad's cousin. That makes more sense
Imagine watching it knowing a past family member donated organs and having a young (my son) child who received a donated organ. This video slayed me.
My 22 daughter-in-law passed away and I cannot describe the emotion that you feel when you hear a loved ones heart beating in someone else's chest. I'm so glad that that the heart recipient accepted contact from our family so we could have that moment. We got to meet 3 of her donor recipients, the other 4 are too young.
Wow that incredible. I can't imagine what that must be like. The mix of joy but also immense sadness. It is such an amazing thing to be able to donate organs like that but wow that has got to be excruciating knowing those were from your loved one. This video and Peter portrayed that very well.
@@SuffiReax it's hard to explain, but organ donation helps so many. It helps the recipients and also the donor's family. Knowing a piece of them lives on helps the grieving process imo. It's incredibly bittersweet and this video somehow captured it. Great reaction!!!
I tear up EVERY. DAMN TIME. I see this video. I wish more reactors reacted to THIS video (which actually came out first), than the official one.
This is that song that gives you chills no matter how many times you've heard it, especially with this video.
Lewis's music videos tell a better story than most movies do.
The video was done as a promotion for organ transplant - came out of a throwaway comment he made in a meeting with the charity, more or less "Yeah, Doctor Who is my cousin" and Peter had attended one of his concerts and left him a contact number. So - a day's filming in Buxton, Derbyshire gave us this.
What a perfect song/video for such an event. Talk about tugging on heartstrings and generating an emotional response. Very smart and well done.
Ok, so I had loved the song before and this was the first time I saw the video. Lord have mercy. That was rough to get through on break at work. Gave me a whole new interpretation of the song.
Yes exactly! Gave a completely new meaning to the song. Honestly a much sadder one.
Your reaction, the shock when you realised what was going on, was exactly like mine, only I UGLY cried. It made me sob so much, I’m a huge Lewis fan but only saw this version of the video last week. Heartbreaking! You’ve got a new sub here ❤️ xx
I saw Lewis Capaldi discussing this video. He said that he made this second video to bring awareness of organ donation.
I believe now you are automatically an organ donor and have to opt out of it
This video really takes this song to another level!
I cry my eyes out whenever I watch this, so sad, so moving and so real. Lewis is a genius for creating the song but the video is phenomenal 💗💗💗
I'm crying with you no matter how many times i've been watching this mv
If this video with the song doesn't make you cry ya got a stone in ya chest.
Peter Capaldi is famously known for being "The Doctor" from 'Dr. Who'. He's a distant cousin but he is an awesome actor. Just phenomenal. But this video is amazing for 2 reasons: the emotional impact of the song felt through the video & at the end, the heart within a heart symbol is the Heart Donor symbol. The need for all kinds of organ donations across the world is so badly needed that most people die waiting on the recipients list.
This is my first time watching you. But, that's the reaction this video deserves!
I cry every single time I see this video. So cool his cousin is/was Dr. Who so much talent in the family!
That is completely understandable haha I don't want to watch the video again for that very reason.
But yes lots of talent in those genes!
You hit it. Peter Capaldi is an actor who speaks a whole script in his face.
His voice is just phenomenal. He could sing the phone book!
yours is one of the more heartfelt reactions for this song-well done
If this video doesn’t make you roll a tear then you aren’t human. Thanks for the reaction.
Ty for this one, I bawled again, and sometimes one need to do that.
true
It was very special seeing how it effected you. I love seeing the emotional passion from music that so beautiful...
I can count on one hand the number of music videos that can get me to shed a few tears, and this is one of them
Same
Your not the only one fella who felt it .respect from the uk
Every single time...it gets me. Great reaction and thanks for reacting to it, it is difficult to find reactions to this video
I'm really glad for have found this video man, you've got the greater and most honest reaction ever!
I really appreciate you doing this video to go along with the other video for the same song. I know I was on your case about it pretty early on, but you're channel is great and I appreciate you listening to the masses. Take care!
Such a beautiful reaction, Danny. I love everything you do; it's all so real. Watching you make the connection to the meaning was really special. Thanks for not being afraid to get emotional. I pretty much lost it when the woman took his hand and placed it on the scar on her chest, and then again when it showed the drawing the little girl gave him. I think it's one of the most amazing music videos I have ever seen.
Congratulations on getting the attention of the writer/director and one of the actors from the video.
I just had a heart transplant myself and every time I see this video I break down sobbing.
So glad you did this one, too! Watch it almost daily.
such emotional Music Video, i didn't realize it the song be this sad before i watch ur react of the music video.
Amazing
What a caring, loving reactor you are. I have never seen this before and I am typing through tears? What a lovely guy you seem.
one of the best music videos i've ever seen. gives me a feeling i cant even describe.
Video of the year!! I cry every time I see it and I can’t stop watching.
My best friend died at age 30 and her family knew the only way to make it any better would be to donate her organs and save others lives. They have met a few of the people who have received organs and said it was almost harder then the decision to donate them.
Great upload, bro.
YOU gave me goosebumps by your reaction pal
am so glad you went back to this song and did a reaction to this video, it definately gives a different perspective to the song ;)
Yes it certainly did. Both videos are incredible and each for different reasons
Love your reaction bro it’s so authentic
Thanks man, I knew to expect something but it still hit hard when I put everything together. Really powerful video
Thanks for watching :)
I enjoy your reaction videos. Keep being as genuine as you are. 👍
Thank you :)
Around 4:48 you mentioned what Peter was listening to. The heartbeat.
This is the magical correct video. Lewis is just magical
Excellent reaction, thank you for not editing out the emotional part.
You Sweet Man…Great reaction…Tears are Good 😊🙁
His Dad did a great job. Lewis's voice is AMAZING 😢
I just found you tonight.. I had to watch this for this is my favorite songs.
I can't stop crying,
When my son passed away at the age of 13, in 2007, I donated his organs. I wish I could find the people who received them so I can hear him breath just one more time...thank you again for sharing
I am so sorry for your loss.
It is incredible that his organs will still able to be used and that you can rest knowing that he was still able to help someone even after passing.
This is a very powerful song
this is what keeps me crying five times aday
And I’m crying
Again ..
Thank you for crying with me❤️
My mom is the recipient of a liver transplant and I love this video sooo much!! Thank you to everyone that is signed up to be a organ donor!!
I remember when this video just came out and everyone was talking about it. We were warned it was a tear jerker but it still didn't prepare anyone for it. Even now knowing the story, I had to dry my eyes
He’s not listening to music it’s her heartbeat
The song is gorgeous of course but Peter makes this video. His face when he feels the heart beating is just.. well no words.
This is such a beautiful video and song.
Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And you were taken 😭
I was getting kind of used to being someone you loved
This video was released first in conjunction with the charity "Live Life Give Life" to raise awareness for organ donation. Absolutely heart wrenching video
Great reaction Danny.. lived the song and the video was very touching..
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed it
This is a great video to the song...it says it all...so powerful !!!!!!!
Yes!
This always makes me cry so hard.
I have not watched it again since, too emotional
I found this song summer of 2019 when my wife (now ex) up and moved across country with no warning. The lyrics were perfect for how I felt. I let my guard down and she pulled the rug.
It is a great break up song. However, I saw an interview this fall 2020 where he said the song was actually about losing someone who died. With that knowledge, it makes this video even more poignant. I only wish that on this reaction video, he would have played it to the very end, where the organ donation company is referenced. It would have made more sense to everyone. Well done, though.
really good video that song transmits a lot.
first time i cried in over a year...
It's OK to get in your feel's man, respect you for it......This song is beautiful, and breaks even the strongest of men.
Waw I just cried so hard..🥺
he was listening to her heart beat
Maybe you missed that he listens to a recording he made of his wife’s heart beat. It’s all that he has left of her now, along with the memories and the visit he made to the family who received his wife’s heart.
This video just hits different 💔❤
He was listening to her heart beat he recorded, its so clear and yes he gave her heart to the little girl mother and its the first time he heard it beat in her chest.
Ahh man! You gave the answer away! Damn, that's no fun. Now you don't believe I got it. 😭
I love your eyes and the way you cry.
You even made me cry. 😭😭😭😭
I've never heard this song and honestly couldn't concentrate on the lyrics because of the video... and yet I understood the story and Peter's expression when the wife showed him the scar... that teared me up. So now I'm going to listen to it again but with my eyes closed. And maybe when I do get the lyrics I'll be bawling my eyes out :)
As for the riddle, I'm terrible. My convoluted answer was an empty mailbox. When you add two letters (in)to it it becomes a full mailbox which is shorter :D
I totally understand that, I can't watch this particular video without tearing up but I certainly love the song!
Haha well A+ for creativity
Omg..crying right with you Danny. Don't know if I hate u or love u for making me cry early in the morning 🤣😭.
HAHAHA 😄 love that joke!
Tears while laughing. You're taking me on an emotional roller coaster Danny.
Lol my bad! It's like a good yet sad cry cause its a beautiful song and just a video but also awful to imagine and know people have to go through.
But yes quite a roller coaster haha
I wonder about what Peter was listening too as well. By the end of video I am thinking it was his wife’s heart beat. Great job. Loved the joke got it before the answer. Keep up the good work.
I have seen this video many times before but I have still never had an emotional reaction to anything else like I’ve had to this
Yes Lewis is related to Peter Capaldi, but it’s not his father.
The way they are related is on his father's side, Capaldi's second cousin once removed is the actor Peter Capaldi, who appeared in an alternate version of the music video for "Someone You Loved".
I cried too
Lewis to me look's like a really nice guy.Sincerely From.Danna in Arkansas.
bruh I'd heard this song so many times on the radio and just dismissed it as another breakup song. now I'm crying
Told u months ago to watch this one. Best video ever and hard hitting. This was U.K. organ donor advert at the end.
Yup, and I never forgot about it.
Very hard hitting and moving.
Such a powerful video. My husband and daughter got the riddle immediately, smarty pants.
Don’t know where those lyrics are from.
One and Lost on You are good songs to check out by Lewis. Maybe check out some of his live performances?
Haha they are smarty pants. I am terrible at riddles lol I have to look at the answer each time.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will check them out
Maybe I am wrong. But I saw this video completely different.
I saw him (a surgeon) and her as old flames. Who dated for a long time. And came very close to getting married.
Years later, she was married and had a child. He however never moved on. And was living alone, still pining for her.
She needed a heart transplant. She wrote the letter, asking him to perform the procedure. Even though they were broken up, he was the only one she trusted with her life, that much.
So he sees this man married to what he felt should have been his wife. This little girl he felt should have been his. Then he obeyed his Oath. And did the procedure. And then went back to his lonely life. Remembering what he had lost.
I saw this video first. I didnt realize there was a second one until I saw it on another channel. This one is superior to the other one by far. The emotions this version makes you feel.... I feel like the other video is an insult to this beautiful song.
An amazing videowhich shows just how important organ donation can be
I saw this video after the first one. Oof. I prefer it. Makes me bawwwwwl.
Lyrics are from his song Grace. Great video!
Correct!
And thank you!
Well good grief. 😢 it hit us both at the same time. That puts a whole new twist on the song, doesn’t it? There is a song that gets me every time, and it is called 21 Years by Toby Mac. It hits home for me. Way too close to home. In fact, there is a line in the song that I am actually thinking about getting as my first tattoo! 😱
Yeah this video gave it a whole new meaning and put that lump in my throat so fast.
Oh yeah? That is cool! I haven't heard of that one but i'll check it out!
Told you to have some tissues ready :)
❤️
I really do like Lewis awhole lot.I really do wish that I can meet Lewis sometime.I really do love and also really do like that song Somebody you loved by Lewis.I do not know if this song was all about Lewis's grandma passing away.Or all about Lewis's Aunt passing away.Or all about a girl friend breaking up and also leaveing Lewis.Well what ever this song Somebody you loved was and also really all about.I still really do love and also really do like this song by Lewis.I also really would have loved and also really liked to have got to sing it with Lewis.I really do love and also really do like and also really do enjoy singing awhole lot.I sing at my church sometime's.And also at my apartment.Everbody have a really safe and also a really blessed the rest of this year 2020.And also the rest of this of next year 2021.Jesus loves you guy's and so do I.Sincerely From.Danna in Arkansas.
its the recipient of the donation in Scotland that gets the name of the family that donated...its done through 3rd party Social Workers...some do...some dont...its a very personal thing...
the answer to the riddle is the word "short"
