Hated my mother for years for things she did but now realize that it all made me wary of people like her and I know what kind(s) of people I need/want to avoid in the future and how to deal with them IF I have to. I've been on my own for years and it's great! Nobody to answer to. Don't have to ask what anyone else wants to eat, watch on TV, don't have to hear crap about ANYTHING I do. It may not be for everybody, but I've never been happier.

I'll still never understand why people pour so much hate to this album. It's a fantastic album with so much deep meaning to every song! Not everything has to be heavy and aggressive. There's nothing wrong with ballads once in a while. This album doesn't deserve all the hate. People just don't put enough heart into this album.

It is truly a masterpiece. My favourite is Asylum, with the heaviness and agressiveness, but this one has a special touch, as you said, a ballad feeling!

This song sends a powerful message. It gives me the motivation to move on from the most painful obstacles that I face. It has helped me to open up to my own fears, and fight my inner demons, Disturbed your music has inspired me over the years it has drawn me into and it helped me in my most darkest place. It has saved me and it has taken me a very long time but I can finally say I am stronger on my own, always have been always will be. Thank you again Disturbed, your music runs deep.

Blown away! The power and euphoria induced by this track is unreal. Hard to find music this uplifting and well executed nowadays.
This song actually hits home a lot because of my younger brother. He went through a lot of shit in the past, but now he's 19 and it's incredible how jaded, but also how fierce and independant he is today, using the pain to make himself stronger. Disturbed is one of his favourite bands and he sees this song as his personal theme, and for a reason.

I love this song, but I would like to offer up a slightly different interpretation than some people in the comments have perceived. Sure, it expresses that whomever the song is directed to has plenty to deal with in their life, but they have the strength to get through it and come out on top. However, I don't think its that simple. The rest of the lyrics (excluding the chorus)focus quite heavily on the speaker. It seems the speaker is talking to someone close to him, and they have both gone through their fair share of shit, some of it together. But the speaker thinks he is too self destructive to be of any use to this person close to him. He is pushing away, distancing himself because he believes that he will make this person's life better by not being a part of it. That is the exact opposite of a positive message. That's really damn sad, and really damn real. I imagine it as a relationship I can relate to, where you and your other feed into the worst, most negative parts. Together you both seemingly become more pessimistic, uncaring, irresponsible. So, the speaker decides there's more hope for the other person than himself, and ends things.
Just a different take.
I like your interpetaation, something I love so much about Disturbed music as you can interpret it and pull different meanings from their music.

Dan Donegan is a great rhythm guitarist with a plethora of riffs but I felt he was holding back with the lead stuff on this album. My favourite solo on this album is saviour of nothing
He is a good guitarist doesn't need to show off with solos all the time. He proves that sometimes a sick riff can out do a 3 minute solo.

Ok so what I like about this album especially... is that you can hear almost every disturbed album in just this one. They have some sickness sounding stuff, some 10k fists... some indestructible, and some immortalized... and some stuff that you had no idea they could/would do. Evolution is the perfect title for this fucking masterpiece. It shows us EVERYTHING a real fan has grown to love
David Draiman is literally the best Singer in the world!!! I have yet to hear a song sang by him that I have not Loved!!! Whether it's in disturbed or any of his other bands that he sings in

Can we all stop and take a look at the lyrical connection between this song and a reason to fight? They're both about substance abuse and recovering from it. Reason to fight is the emotional damage it causes, and this one is about being stronger once you overcome it. I love the connection between those songs, and I honestly didn't know David went through any of this, but it definitely gives a very different perspective of him. And honestly gives me a lot more respect for him, portraying it in music the way they have as a band
"Stronger On Your Own" is about abusive relationships, not substance abuse. Believe me, i know. I went through 11 years of an emotionally abusive hot-cold relationship. This song might as well be taken from a page of my life.
"Uninvited Guest" ties into this song more than "A Reason To Fight" does.
This song is how he felt when he got out of the military like he felt like he was on it so nobody understood he probably lost a lot of good friends while he was serving. So in my opinion is a very political album and how to deal with the struggles to live in society after serving.

This is one Disturbed song that simply does not get enough credit. In my opinion, we all find our own individual "diverse power" within ourselves for the many situations we face in life, but it is up to us how we exhibit that power and survive through those times when we need it the most and discover how we truly can be stronger on our own.
So strange to see these guys after leaving the hard rock scene behind for more than a decade. Disturbed was my gateway to metal about fifteen years ago, as I'm sure they were for many. It's good to see they are still so popular.
They're still one of my favorites too. Hang in there.
Just listen and take it in, stop trying to find everything wrong with it, it's great.

They played it way too safe. It's a shame because the last album was a true evolution of their sound, but this is just going backwards.

Well i apologise but for me, this song is the absolute. best song on this masterpiece, the album itself is a piece of utter brilliance but without a doubt this is the genius of the album. Thankyou for making our music so much better DISTURBED. Thankyou for continuing to amaze us with your sheer class and unrivalled wizardry with making emotive and thought provoking music.

If you really listen to the feel and flow of the guitars that MAKE this music what it is, dude should be getting some awards for guitar work. Dan makes these songs so feely and powerful. Chill ridden metal sledge. Very underrated.
